Abandon Ship in Glasgow City

We went in at 12am after finding them on gmaps and loved it. We'd been to a gig and instead of looking disappointing that people were coming in just before closing they welcomed us and more people in. The staff were helpful and friendly with questions about the city and places to go and kept the bar open later when they didn't have to. The staff were amazing and even changed the music to the band we'd all been to see. Great decor, great staff and we loved it. Photobooth was a super fun added bonus!

Great music, atmosphere & drinks, loved the funny and relatable artwork on the walls & ceilings. The toilets were clean and really convenient if you happen to be re-touching your makeup (good lighting and mirrors in the cubicles) - would definitely visit again!

Hate to be these people, as we also work in hospitality- however the standard of service received was horrendous. We turn up, with a booking, and are told just to sit anywhere, no confirmation of name or booking, despite there being a no show deposit... Nor did they ask for allergies…appalling; one of us in fact has a peanut allergy, written on our booking if they’d care to look. Initially, we ordered 2 express martini's, a drink we enjoy often. We both took a sip, simultaneously put our drinks down, and agreed they were undrinkable. After informing a staff member (hard to reach as they were all standing behind the bar chatting/ lulling about) we opted for a wine and showed them our selection. Someone came over to take our order, no pad and pen, no iPad. Fine if you know the menu inside out and are faultless. They were not. The waiter had to come back and double check what we had ordered... as they walked away we guessed they would get the order wrong. The food came, you guessed it, incorrect. E.g., A vegan cauliflower buffalo wings came as normal chicken wings. Yum. The red wine we ordered came as the incorrect bottle, despite one of the party having already told the server they were collecting the wrong wine for us after she went to the bar to alert them to our incorrect food items. We also caught the staff members bi***ing about us to eachother and the kitchen. Unprofessional, especially as we had been polite up to this point and simply pointed out THEIR mistakes. There’s a difference between receiving great service and correct food items; and then maybe being a bit difficult about taste/ particularities etc, verses a vegan being served chicken. We informed them we would be leaving without eating anything as we did not feel welcome following their attitude, nor did we trust their competence with the menu, and consequently nor their care/ competence surrounding a severe allergy. Would bicot. Their decor is great; the place has clearly put a lot of money and effort into their 'visual vibe' to entice, shame no where near the same effort and time has been applied to training staff on not only industry standard service, but standard human behaviour.

wish 0 stars was an option. Lost my booking apparently it didnt exsist even tho it was for 12 folk, couldnt even get to my friends birthday night. Guy on phone could NOT care less and was so rude. Waited 30 hours for a ‘call back’ from Jamie? Who apparently was the one who make my booking - Jack was the name of the guy on the phone and never called me back, totally out of order, worst customer service ive ever received and after reading these reviews i will never be visiting! So unprofessional Let me add - Jamie was so lovely when making my booking but have not heard from him which i find very unprofessional and unorganized.

I was thrown out of this bar tonight by door staff for apparently “swinging from lights”. I’d been dancing by the bar and didn’t even take notice of lights let alone notice where the lights were or even touch them. Ruined a perfectly good Christmas night out for myself and the group of friends I’d been out with. Door staff didn’t offer any valid explanation or truthful reason for putting me out. Took 10+ mins to be served (not full measures) and overpriced “alternatives” due to lack of stock. Wouldn’t waste your time here. Hope the management reevaluate their decisions and remember it’s paying customers who keep them in a job. 100% won’t be back, neither will any of the group of friends who were with me. Would’ve avoided giving a bad review had I actually done anything wrong. Lessons to be learnt from management & door staff. Made me feel like I’d ruined my friends Christmas night out. Avoid at all costs.

Unbelievably poor service from ineffectual bar staff. If you thought (as their publicity suggests) you were coming to Abandon Ship for an enjoyable, fun experience, then the bar staff will quickly sour your visit with their surly, moody attitude. Not do they seem to be experienced in, not only customer satisfaction, efficiently serving the waiting customers. Definitely wouldn't recommend. Definitely won't be back...
