Brought the family here when they visited from Ireland, great value for the buffet and food is replenished efficiently ! friendly staff. Reliable and good food we left feeling very satisfied

Good place for curry. The dishes we chose had a 2 chilli rating. We’re used to curry but this was a bit over spicy for us (though they will provide plain yogurt on request). So you may want to choose milder. Large portions. Seems to be authentic Indian from various regions, Huge menu. Service not greatly friendly. Alcohol free bar. We went a la carte.

Went for the new breakfast buffet menu and everything was spot on, food, value for money, variety, space, atmosphere. Genuinely can’t complain at having everything included in the price as in desi tea and juice. Breakfast for all palates too, English and desi, something for everyone

Horrendous experience. We went for the desi breakfast at 1pm on a Sunday. All that was left were scraps of food. The scrambled desi eggs were swimming in oil 🤮 the buffet bar was dirty and a poor gentleman asked the chef if they would make him a fresh omelette (don't blame him) and they flatly refused. The floor was cover in food and stains and even the water glasses had lipstick marks. If this buffet was half the price at £6 per adult, I would not return. Please, if you can't keep the food looking fresh, replenished and tidy, then don't charge people, it's shameless!!!

Had buffet meal , was very dissappointed as limited vegetarian options . Veg samosas were filled with gunk with no identifiable vegetables inside and the spinach dish was so salty I'm sure it was a health hazard . Staff got mixed up just bringing soft drinks over to the table , a straightforward task I would have thought .

Chicken was dry. Rice was watery. Onion bajis nearly £6 were just greasy battered onion rings? Naan bread was dry with no butter on them at all, stale. Vile. Would not recommend this place to ANYONE

Nehari is best,chani and Pai need to improve little bit. Over all it's best place for food but the worse thing is Alcohol. I will not visit again because of alcohol

Had the Buffet upstairs! Absolutely disappointed I have been using Aagrah restaurants for 25 yrs + this is not good from a high standard . No wonder there is restaurants in Skipton and ilkley have Closed . The food was very limited in respect of curry selection . I brought my partner for a lovely buffet dinner and was hoping impress but I was very disappointed. Lacked taste . Looks like cut backs have taken a trip for the worst 😩😩😩

Where to begin? Wife and I are reasonably local and often go for a linch buffet possibly around twice a month; food has always been good, variety and and atmosphere very acceptable. Today however, all seemed different and we were told that it’s no longer a lunch buffet but a combined brunch / lunch buffet. Okay, not a problem. So they have dumbed down the options as really it was just a breakfast buffet. None of the food tasted good and often lacking in salt and spice and not fully cooked (potatoes hard, fritters still a good way to go before being edible, chick peas bland. It reminded me of a builders all day breakfast option and certainly the clientele were there for just that. There was a couple who actually got up to fill up their plates at least 6 times. Most embarrassing was the said gentleman ate stood by the buffet finishing his plate before refilling….. its no wonder many of the food containers were empty and those that had some food were tepid if not cold. There was definitely a change in the chefs, didn’t recognise either of them having visited for around 18 years. Waiters were good as ever, but the air conditioning for whatever reason was not on which didn’t help the external summer heat of 25 degrees plus. Come on Aagrah, you can do better than this; there are standards to maintain please.

My 2nd visit for the Brunch Menu. A great selection of food, including fruit, pastries, English style breakfast, and Indian cuisine. Freshly cooked, tasty food, with great service and value. Eat as much as you like, you will not be disappointed.

Been there twice for the Breakfast buffet, everything is good. Taste is hit and miss, once it was few things that were really good and next week it was different items that taste great but overall if you are buffet fan then must visit this, very reasonably priced, staff is really friendly and kind. For parking needs to register inside at tablet.

We went to the Shipley Aagrah buffet this evening, we used to go quite a lot and the choice and quality was good. The price has gone up which is understandable but the quality was very poor, we won't be going again.

I lived in Shipley until 1997, was a frequent diner at the original location. Seems time and the expansion has really pushed the quality down. Service was slow and unfriendly, prices were way too high. Food was over spiced, old , stale definitely NOT freshly cooked. I have my go to lamb Rogan josh, this was their signature dish back in the day, what a real shame, old lamb, old sauce, old coriander. Chapattis were rubbery, terrible range of alcohol. Shame, I was Soo looking forward to this visit. I was with 6 family members and their food/experience mirrored mine. Shame.

Ordered from just eat £40 for 2 starters, chips and a main. Chips under cooked and very greasy, curry very oily, onion bhaji like onion rings and didn't resemble anything thing like a bhaji. Raita was congealed and tasted off, almost like it had had been frozen. OLD BUFFET FOOD FOR £40!!! Place needs a Gordon Ramsey inspection. Grim is an understatement.

Visited the buffet with friends. It was ok. Nothing special. Tried 3 different dishes but they were just OK. I would expect one to be average, but all 3. Sorry but I get better takeaway dishes. The starters were OK too. Sadly. Perhaps I should have tried the main restaurant downstairs, but I do expect something better from Aagrah

We travelled from Sheffield to Shipley for Breakfast bufett and its was worth all the hassle/ commute. Such huge variety for beakfast as well as brunh items ( curries) . Staff was very helpful especially man in the french beard and Mubashar in the kitchen. Great food @ Great price. Will definately visit again

Not what I was expecting. Food all fairly bland, and took a while to come out despite our table being the only one still ordering (there were 3-4 other tables of guests but they already had their food when we got there).

It gets bust at weekends, and food is spicy. But the staff are good and listen to needs.

Ordered takeaway several times. Must have had 30+ different dishes. Always top notch. Hard to beat. Also had them cater our wedding…. Were fabulous. Couldn’t recommend more.

Aagrah Shipley truly exceeded all expectations! The food was outstanding, and the service was excellent. We were pleasantly surprised by the variety of dishes and delicious food selection available even on a Monday evening. It was an absolute treat dining here, and we're already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended for a memorable dining experience!

The front of house staff member that we met as we came into the restaurant was a tad frosty and not particularly welcoming. The service was quite quick and the waiter that took our order was pleasant. They didn't do draught beer, only bottled. Didn't have any of the fruity gins on the menu nor any of the Belvoir soft drinks which were also on the menu. Ordered 4 mains with rice, roti and naan sides. Took around 15 to 20 minutes to arrive. The waiter that brought the meals can only be described as sullen and he literally slammed the meals down on the table without a smile or any eye contact. On inspection, all the meals looked the same although they were 4 different curries. I had a little taste from each one and again, they all tasted very similar and just swimming in sauce. They were all edible enough but only very average. The place just feels like we, as paying diners, are an inconvenience? The waiters that were pleasant seemed distracted. Why have a restaurant when your staff clearly can't be bothered? Up your game guys. Would never eat here again. Lots of other great places in Shipley and Saltaire that serve great food and with care and a smile 😃

It's not very spicy (it's not spicy at all to me) and it's not a high curry taste, however I must say I find it best curry restaurant in Bradford, in terms of quality and value. As well,the selection of deserts is great (and they got ice cream)

Very disappointed to say the least! Visited last night for a family meal. Service was questionable to say the least, there was no pleasantries or smiles. Wrong drinks order came, no apology for this and just miserable faces back from the staff . Main course arrived and both mine and my husband’s curry was inedible. The ‘madras’ was at best something from a tin/jar and our other curry was burnt and bitter. Called the waiter over to let him know and again there was no apology, we were met with a face that couldn’t have cared less. Needles to say I rejected their offer to remake our food and rather just chose not to pay for said meals. Overall experience was shocking and unexpected given we’ve been dining in these restaurants for many years and have always been pleased with the food/service.

Very disappointed went with hubby for a birthday treat for the buffet booked for 9.30 felt like we feed off scraps that were left and staff busy sweeping up around us while we ate 😂 not a good vibe at all

Came in today with my family including two children. Great atmosphere, great and helpful staff, and amazing ethnic food. They have a great selection of food and lots of different meats. They also have a nice dessert section with lots of selections of ice cream and fruits. Well priced. Would definitely recommend this buffet if you are around Shipley!

Overall, we had a good buffet experience. Most of the food was very nice, but undercooked chicken tikka (reported but no apology and one of our group finding a metal shard in another dish) took the edge off the evening. Bar service was exceptionally slow

Pre booked table for the buffet, plenty of food to choose from with excellent service. On-site car parking is free, but you would need to get their early to get a space.

We tried buffet. Great food. Loved almost every food we have tried. The number of items is a little bit less compared to other places but the quality of food was exceptional. Really enjoyed mutton, chicken, and lamb items. Desserts were on to the point, not too sweet, but every pudding had their flavour, which I really liked. Service from staff was very good. The buffet cost was around £20 pp.

Booked for 10 people at 9pm. £19.95 each and literally cold scrapings of curry left to choose from. Starters ok but mains next to empty trays and what was there was dried up and cold. Had to ask them to microwave a plate with no offer to make anything new other than naan even though so many of us had booked in. A massive disappointment at the end of a lovely day out in Saltaire. Should have booked elsewhere.

Went with family for the buffet meal on the 1st floor. There was a short wait while our table was laid. There's a good selection of drinks available, including mocktails. The food was OK, but nothing spectacular, although there was a good range.

The naan bread is gorgeously like no other. The keema naan was filled with lamb mince in a sauce, and the peshwari naan was topped with pieces of dried coconut, pineapple and mango.

Poor service, mediocre to poor food, total lack of atmosphere. Onion bahjis were raw inside. Dips were watery, some of the curries were better than others, ranged from virtually inedible to ok. The wine was worse than poor, quality was totally unacceptable. If one of us had had a seizure and died I don't think the writers could have cared less. There was no engaging with them, they were totally disinterested. I've been going to the Aggrah since it opened, many, many years ago. I will not be going back. Oh and watch the parking. If you don't register your car on arrival, you'll get a £60 fine. Yes there are signs, but if you arrive in the dark and are not expecting to have to pay to park outside the restaurant you are visiting, the signs are easily missed, including the one on the door if someone is holding the door open. Do the staff ask if you've registered your car when you check in? Nope. That says it all about your welcome really. Once great, now dire. AVOID.

Absolutely brilliant Brunch , lots of variety and can't believe as much as you can eat buffet breakfast for £11 , well well worth a try

The best restaurant/buffet in Bradford. The food is always amazing and never disappoints. The staff are always very professional & friendly. It's my go to place for any event or if I fancy dining out. If you have not been here yet it is definitely worth a visit.

Had an amazing experience at Aagrah Shipley decided to go for the Al la carte and was not disappointed the waiter I had was very helpful he made my experience even better helping me decide what dish I would enjoy he was right I had a Karahi lamb made Asian style because I told him I like spice and the flavours and taste were amazing the lamb was so soft and with a fresh garlic Nan went so well I enjoyed my food so much and the service I stayed for dessert and went for a chocolate lovin spoon cake which came perfectly heated so it wasn’t melted and not hard with chocolate sauce and wafers and a nice amount of ice cream will definitely be back again aagrah keep it up and I hope the same waiter serves my table he did tell me his name was hamid thanks for the service other waiters were helpful too but didn’t catch there names.

Visited the a la carte restaurant on a Saturday evening with a group of friends. Only about 40% full on a Saturday night which is always a sign. Expensive but pretty average food served in a gimmicky way to justify the expense (sizzling starter served on a mini charcoal barbecue type thing). And probably the worst aspect was the disinterested waiters, three all stood looking at their phones at one point. Classic case of a place that has become complacent and people aren't prepared to pay the prices for average food and poor service

This was truly the most godawful, disgusting meal I have ver had the misfortune to eat. Absolutely revolting in every way. Eating it (while having to not say anything as I was trying not to embarrass the person who had suggested it), was the low point of my life (eating food). I have only ever eaten worse food once. It makes me think of what prison food must be like, but that it almost certainly far superior. I still have a bad tase in my mouth 24 hours later. UTTERLY DISGUSTING FOOD

Been here on a few occasions but the dish I had tonight was outstanding, King prawn achar. With steamed rice it was the cleanest and freshest curry which still has me salivating over. The flavours were a joy to the tastebuds and so good I will go back tomorrow and have exactly the same dish. As it was almost 9pm on a Monday night, the restaurant was empty and where the chef I am sure was probably looking forward to finishing for the night he produced a dish of magic, the prawns large and succulent, just cooked to perfection. All the flavours of lime, fenugreek, chilli just left me wanting more. Fabulous.

Went here for the buffet and have to say the quality of the food was very good and the quality of the service was even better. All the staff members were very polite and helpful. Manwar especially was very attentive and went the extra mile. Will definitely recommend and will be going back soon.

Nice relaxed place with a spread of foods that give you tha ability to try things you otherwise wouldn't if just getting a meal staff are very attentive to your needs and polite nothing too much of an effort

Save Yourself The Money and Heartache Go Elsewhere You'll Thank Me Later. See All 1 Star Reviews! Where do I start. I last visited over 10 or so years ago and it was a little gem of a place. We used to have our work meals here too, it was that good. Before I go on, it would be good for you to know that myself and my partner are both South Asian, but he loves the cuisine, whereas I know the cuisine very well, but it's so so for me. What I am trying to say is that we know what we are talking about, but I don't really hold super high expectations when it comes to curries etc. Therefore, I'm not as critical as my partner would be if he was writing the review (lucky for them), but I have to be honest. I'm going to work backwards here, and start with my conclusion and recommendation based on my experience, and then the rationale... sit tight guys. I'm going to be fair and not write off all of our positive experiences with the other Aagrah branches, and would recommend people in this locality make an extra 15 minute trip and go to their Aagrah Midpoint (Thornbury/Pudsey) branch. I could recommend other better restaurants altogether, however, I'm giving credit where due to the other branches, and would recommend that you avoid your disappointment by coming here, and go straight to the Midpoint branch. This place has gone completely downhill unfortunately. Moving on to the rationale. This has honestly, and I'm so sorry to say, been the worst experience I have had of a curry restaurant, never mind the fact they call it a buffet, as I can count the starters on one hand and the mains on 2. The variety was almost non existent compared to any other South Asian buffet, especially compared to their own Midpoint branch, which is worlds apart. I was honestly so upset and so hungry by the time I left here, which to be fair wasn't very long, as there was barely any choice available, and what there was just really was not up to par. I can tell they're not that busy as it wasn't busy when we attended, but you could taste, smell and feel the texture of some of the foods that had been reheated from the day/s before, it's just not on, but I'm not surprised it's quiet. I quietly and respectfully asked one of the waiters if this is how it is on a daily basis, as on a Sunday they advertise the buffet and Carvery, but there's barely any food present (the carvery being just some red meat and gravy), and what is here is either older than it should be, or not up to a decent standard that it could be called a proper curry. Credit to the waiter, he listened to what I said and took on the constructive feedback and said he would share this with the Manager. He also confirmed that this is the amount of food that is on offer daily, which was a bit disheartening, as I was hoping it was just an off day where the main chef had called in sick or something along those lines. When I got to the till, I was met by a very hostile Manager. Clearly our constructive feedback had reached him, and he did not take it well at all. He literally smacked a piece of paper down with our bill total on it. Ordinarily the cost is £19.95 per person, but in October they have 20% off, making it just under £16 per person. Well, he tried to charge us full price, as well as £7.95 for a small jug of coke. The receipt said the jug of coke is £5, but he had overridden this to £7.95. To be fair, I was expecting £6.50 as this is what was said to us, and although the receipt said £5, I had to be honest and say I know it's not £5, but £6.50 is what we expected. Once again he rudely spoke and said no it's £7.95 because he says so. Okay, that's fine, but it makes it more expensive than a jug of Mango Lassi, which is crazy, if you know, you know. Honestly, even with 20% off, you get nothing authentic and the range is non existent. Go to the Midpoint, which by the way is £17.95 full price (a bargain I think for their range), but it's the quality and authenticity of the food that makes it out of this world compared to this branch. Alternatively, give it a miss altogether. Thank Me Later.

Buffet on Sunday early evening. Big disappointment. Not in our local area but every time we pass we say "we need to try here". Having been to other Aggrah's we thought the Shipley one would be great. How wrong were we. The food was terrible! Cold, oily, and bland. what a disappointment. We cannot even say 'regular standard' because it was the worst meal out we have had in many many years (we eat out weekly). We shared our experience with staff (without being critical or nasty) and we got a "sorry", but still paid full price. I can still taste oil in roof of my mouth a few hours later. It was an unpleasant experience and one I hope not to repeat for many years to come. Our experience is tried, never to try again.

I used to go to the original Aagrah in Shipley as a child when it was the best place in Bradford for a curry. It was brilliant! Unfortunately, turning into a chain has left this restaurant with little more than a famous name. This particular restaurant was decorated over 20 years ago, and it seems nothing has changed since. It looks dated, with worn and dirty table seats, and bar seats with worn and torn leather. The toilets need a revamp, as the urinal flushers are rusted, and the tap for the sink had a plastic tray under it as it was dripping. The ventilation fan is also packed with dust, which is something that could easily be solved, but it seems it is just left as it is. As I passed the bar, the manager and another employee were slouching on the sofa looking at their mobiles. It didn't look very professional! The sauces for the poppadoms were very nice, as were the poppadoms. We got the mix vegetable starter for two, which was just average. I've certainly had much better onion bhajis before, for example. We ordered two curries, one of which was an award-winning speciality, but the chicken in both of them was extremely hard and dry! The sauce was okay but not at all spicy, as the menu had suggested. We also got rice, a garlic naan and a chapati, which were all fine! Sadly, The Aagrah has rested on its laurels for too long, and nowadays, there are much better options available in Bradford for decent curry. It's a real shame.

Had a takeaway to celebrate our anniversary and holiday. Food was very poor. Cheap chicken used, covered in oil - more oil than actual curry. Peshawari Naan, cheap chunks of ???. Onion bhaji more like onion ring. Best bit was the poppadoms.

Went to the buffet upstiars. Food is really good. Service is really good and they are brilliant with kids. Price is ridiculous. They charged my 13yr old as an adult. There were 3 of us (2 adult meals and a child) we got 3 soft drinks. Came to £63. So expensive!

My partner and myself visited Aagrah restaurant tonight 23 rd september 2023.. Really disappointed with the reception of two waiters been the small middle aged waiter with a bailed head . I asked for a plaster as I caught my hand . He was very ignorant and pretended he didn't understand it was clear his English was very good. I felt quite embarrassed he asked another waiter to do my hand was bleeding. He was then serving sweet I asked for ice cream he slopped it on my plate like a dish of old dish water . Very very in unprofessional. Secondly the waiter with the slick back greesy hair hairband in Made me quite uncomfortable my partner too. He kept staring at us like he knew us which was impossible as I don't live in yorkshire. He then sent another waiter to our table with the bill. We had only ate first course and was having buffet. He sent the bill to the table when my partner had gone to the toilet put the bill in front of me I explained we had only had first course. The other waiter was very apologetic. I eat very small amounts and won't mix foods on my plate so I get clean plates each time so I had salad then went bk and hit onion bargi and somos I think this upset them. We had our main course rushed it and got our sweet.. My partner complained about the behaviour of these waiters which the bar man appoliged for them. I have never felt so uncomfortable and was glad to leave the buffet was very busy. The food was OK but really put us off .. I don't think I'll be going in a hurry again

Had a takeaway delivered by restaurant. On holiday so it was on local recommendation. Save your money and go elsewhere, absolutely awful food. Had to throw most of it away. All 3 main dishes where over salted thin and runny, side accompanying salad was a wilted off coloured mess. The only thing edible where the breads. Disappointed is an under statement. Will never order from here if in the area again.

Six of us went in the evening. Needs a re-vamp especially the dirty toilets and stairs, also more selection on the buffet, The mid-week buffet food was not hot at all just warm not a big selection either. We visited the buffet at 7:00pm on a Thursday night. The only vegetable curry (palak paneer) had run out. The lamb chops had run out. We waited 15 minutes for more onion bhajis to be cooked. The desert portions are tiny and guarded like gold bullion. I was served 1 profiterole!!! The waiting staff were more interested in laying tables than serving us to the extent we walked to the bar and got our own drinks. The only saving grace was the fabulous young man on the bar. As a once regular visitor I won’t be returning any time soon I’m afraid.

Excellent quality and very tasty food, starters were nice. Staff and chefs are really nice and the atmosphere is excellent. Drinks are a little pricey....but that can be said about a lot of places these days. All in all well worth a visit.

We went as a family of 8 with 3 kids for the evening buffet. Extremely disappointed with how they have limited the choice. The food was cold and hardly refilled. Lamb ribs were like rubber and not much choice of lamb. More like take away food chips and samosas etc for starters. Poor quality salad that looked like it had been sat there for a while. For mains it was just curries nothing for kids. The curries were OK but there was just one choice of rice which was plain pilaf and the rice was cold and flavourless Poor quality not even sure if it was standard basmati rice. The seekh kebabs looked frozen. Desserts were extremely limited the icecream was nice but not much choice like there used ro be . Just a few items which also didn't seem fresh. Also when we went to pay one of the staff members rushed ro per table to confirm my kids ages directly speaking to the kids. Felt like interrogation and was very inappropriate. I felt they should have spoke to the adults directly. I won't be returning and I would recommend you visit somewhere else for quality buffet..midpoint is much better

Amazing range of naughty treats , great service

We’ve been going to the aagrah in Shipley for over 40 years (eating in and delivered takeaway) but don’t think we’ll be going to eat in ever again. We went with family as a group of five. The food was just as good as usual however the service was dreadful. The waiter wasleaning over guests to pass food to us but what has put the nail in the coffin is the waiter started clearing the table when one of the party was still eating. He then brought out the hot flannels for all the group even though this member of the party was still eating. Mr Sabir certain members of your staff are letting you down and I think they need refresher training on how to serve a table and when to clear a table. Your staff need to learn to smile more and engage with your customers.

Prices have risen, but the food choices were reduced.

The food is always good, but the staff are all miserable and rude.
