Superb food and service. The food at Aagrah is the best I've had. Utterly delicious. Went for vegetable Madras: without doubt, the very best I've ever had. Great service throughout. Very highly recommended.

Popped in on a Saturday evening for tea, visited with 2 couples. The restaurant was busy but they found us a table. The menu was not a traditional Indian menu what I’m used to but there was plenty of dishes to choose from. We all had poppadoms, starters and mains and we all agreed the food was very nice. Staff were efficient and friendly. Would return.

Appalling ordered a special byriani with explicit instructions for no shellfish as I am highly allergic the waiter was told at least 3 times for no shellfish as I am allergic. Enjoyed the poppadoms while waiting the mains arrived adorned with very shellfish like prawns atop 🤦♂️🤦♂️complained and to be fair the staff offered to remake but by that time my confidence had disappeared and was in no mood to eat

Lukewarm, seemingly mass produced, supermarket shelf microwave-ready food. Wife’s bhuna appears to be frozen veg in a bland curry sauce. Again, shop bought samosas; no fresh herbs / spices. My chicken achar was ok but barely warm. Not offered dessert; seemed in a hurry to get us out - plates cleared, bill presented (without asking). Next customer! Mass produced restaurant chain fare. Plus side - staff polite and cheery! Used to be a treat to go to the Aagrah - much better curry houses are available in Skipton. Disappointing.

Very disappointing; shabby; unclean bathrooms, had not been for 5 years and won’t go again. Our two vegetarian different dishes were identical and not great. The vegetables in it were predominantly potatoes and carrots, can’t get cheaper than that and so a very overpriced dish. Sorry Aagrah we had hoped for better.

Poor experience for what should have been a lovely Christmas celebration with colleagues. Party were hugely over charged, stating we had "copious" amounts of alcohol! Clearly thought we wouldn't notice. Most of us were driving. No itemised bill given, the manager was rude and disrespectful when challenged. We were asked to come back to discuss the issue but we have never given opportunity to meet in person since. No response to further emails from a number of the party. Disgraceful, check your bill!! Def won't be returning!!

Best seat in Skipton. This has got to be the best kept secret in Skipton. While everyone else scrambles for a seat and end up sat on upturned beer barrels there is a small outdoors seating area at the Aagrah right next to the canal that gets overlooked. Great food. Great ambience. Great service.

Where do I start? Only visited here because Skipton balti house was closed, we planned our night on the understanding Skipton balti house would be open until midnight, after reading the opening times on their website. Had a few drinks in Skipton and then headed to the Balti house around 8.30 to find a hand written note in the window saying closed. Plans scuppered! Being on a Monday night we didn’t have many options left but we were hungry. Promised an Indian to the kids so headed to Aagrah, having already read the reviews we didn’t expect much but thought it surely couldn’t be that bad, low and behold it was worse! On entry into the building I could see that everyone was pushed into one corner to make it look half busy. The table by the window offered a great view, best thing of the night. We ordered a popadom and pickle starter, the popadoms weren’t too bad but the pickle condiments were mixed up with one another (mint sauce in lime pickle, lime pickle in mango, mango in chilli etc.) and they all had a sour taste, they came out in plastic take away tubs that you would expect to get from a kebab shop. Carry on regardless. Next rice and naan breads. The rice looked like uncle Bens with a couple of mushroom slices on the top and the naan breads looked like a thin pizza base with holes in. The rice was clay cold, so we complained about it. It was taken away and came back slightly warmer. The curries came out and to be generous Wetherspoons curry are of better standard which is damning. Needless to say we won’t be going back but feeling sorry for the staff as they obviously don’t decide what goes on in that branch of the chain. We payed the bill and left. So please don’t be drawn in by the bright lights but the chips were nice.

Don't go near the place! . Ordered a take out for our wedding anniversary last night. I had one of my faves chicken hyberdadi. Whilst eating I noticed a few pieces of chicken that looked undercooked & I left them to one side. Later on in the evening my stomach was making all sorts of strange noises, only for me to wake with severe abdominal pain at 3am. Needless to say I spent the rest of the night & most of the day in the bathroom. I feel like I have been hit by a bus & I'm extremely upset that being so unwell is affecting me doing fun stuff with my kids in the summer holidays. Especially as it's completely unnecessary! A reputable restaurant like aagrah really need to be more careful, this is not acceptable hygiene & cooking practise, & I would expect so much more. Up until now aagrah has been one of my favourite restaurants but I will now avoid it like the plague & tell everyone I know to do the same. They deserve to go out of business!

This wasn't a great experience. Much of the food appeared to have been prepared well in advance - the chicken was tough and dry, and the naan bread had an odd texture, more like a pastry than a bread. I've eaten at several restaurants in this chain before, and have always found the Leeds branch to be excellent. The Skipton branch started out well, but deteriorated soon afterwards and it is now causing harm to the reputation of Aagrah. I doubt that I will return.

I also found a hair in my rice, when I showed the waiter they asked what did I want.. did I want another rice. No apology or addressing it. I was later charged for it which I thought was poor customer service. I do have dietary requirements of gluten free. When the first waiter was asked about the poppadoms being gluten free he shrugged. the next waiter was more helpful, but seeing as I got a piece of hair in my food.. I'm not sure how careful they are so anyone with allergies, take care in this place.

As someone from Bradford, and taken into account that the Aagrah started in Bradford, I can safely say that those Bradford curry standards have not followed. The starter was fine ... pakora using fresh veg but the mains were substandard. A lot of frozen veg, lacking aroma, lacking spice (basically just lacking) ....it was like a base sauce with some veg thrown in. To add insult to injury the chappatis were charged seperately (something else not followed on from Bradford curry ethics) meaning the whole thing was a very expensive affair for a meal was a poor as the ones we had in Herefordshire when we lived there (and they were dire). We came out totally shocked that they get away with charging so much for so little quality. The staff were friendly enough but service was slow. We waited ages for the main to arrive. Overall there was nothing redeeming about the whole experience. Will not be going there ever again....not even if I was rich. Awful, just awful.

I trust the Title of the review will speak volumesOn arrival we were 'instructed' to wait in the seating area, not asked if we would like to order any drinks whist waiting10 minustes later we were escorted to our table, seated within 3 feet of the next table (not Covid safe)5 mins more passed and we had to request a drinks menu, on receipt of it we asked which of the dry wines would they recommend, the response "Oh ermm Pinot Grigio or Chardonnay" evidently not a clue.....we dont expect someone with someilier knowledge but honesty would have been preferred eg "I dont know and will get someone to help"I asked if they could add a segment of Lime in the Corona beer I wanted to order...."Yes Sir no problem" When it arrived it had a slice of Lemon in it. I asked about it, only to be informed by the Manager, they dont have any Limes? After another period (5mins) we were then asked if we'd like to order the food......"Not yet as we haven't been given a food menu to consider".......Food ordered....... 15 mins later.......Both Currys (Paneer Balti) were served, albeit flavorsome both were Lukewarm, similarly the Basmati Rice and the Rotis came unwrapped and tepid (didn't take long to go cold) .....You could argue, we should have brought it to the attention of the waiting team, however, as we'd been in the place circa 35/40 mins for our meal, to be honest I just wanted to eat it and get out........Perhaps, if, from a professional waiting team perspective, we'd have been asked in a timely manner eg 5 mins of starting to eat the meal, we would have mentioned it, we were asked when we'd eaten more than 50% of our meal...........I did answer "The food arrived Lukewarm,"The Head Waiter / Manager responded by saying, he'd have a word with the Chef (what does that even mean?) Perhaps a more professional response would be to insist the meals be taken away, offered an immediate replacement, a different choice, a complimentary drink or meal voucher. You might not be surprised I said "Its too late" ...........I couldn't stomach another 40 mins of incompetence. One of the serving staff was wandering about with Jogging bottoms and a tracksuit top on???The original couple who we were seated next too at the non Covid safe distance table adjacent were replaced by another couple 30 mins later. £38 for what can only be described as a miserable event, an abismal culinary experience, consisting of incompetent service at an exceptional level and no attempt by the Manager when taking our payment to recover the situation (when he knew about our grievance) Not even an apology!!!!I have visited the Aggrah over the years from way back in the day, when they had a small enterprise in Shipley, Commercial Street and to witness its demise to such a degree that we can say hand on heart, we have had much better experiences at what would be considered low end Curry establishments. It must, and should be a concern. So much so i'm hoping a copy of this review is seen by the MD

Having been a big fan of the Aagrah most of my life I am disappointed with what is is these days! I have had a few poor experiences but due to what it was keep giving it another try...but I think I'm done! Dined last week and they were reusing the same tables over and over again - during covid?! Whilst I understand smaller places do what they can I cannot possibly understand why they would do this in this day and age when they have so much capacity! We were also sat in the window which was very cold - again no reason for this so a strange choice. The food was OK at best, especially for the price tag and the tandoori special mixed grill (once a favourite) was bland, very dry and overall poor. The most upsetting part of the visit was that the 40% on food not drinks also did not apply to poppadoms and pickle tray...not quite sure how these are drinks?! Also for the extra £8 these cost we found this beyond poor! I really don't mind paying for quality but even with the "40%" off I felt cheated! Won 't be trying again even for a proper offer! Sad times!

That was fine and service on collection was good. I was pleased that the order was handed over in a paper bag, so far so good. Then I got back to discover that every item came in a hard plastic container!! This is shocking in 2020 when there's barely a day goes by without some news on the global waste crisis and plastics killing the world's oceans as well as contributing to climate change. It has been a few years since my last Aagrah meal and on Sunday evening whilst staying at my mums, I decided that we would have a treat and get a takeaway from my old favourite Indian in Skipton. For years I went to the Aagrah when it was behind the unicorn hotel and have been to it since it has been at the old Waterfront, always very impressed with the quality of the food but how things have changed!! It was a telephone order and the chap on the phone was very good and helpful. Although it cost £52 for just 3 main meals and a few popadoms, I justified paying more than most places in Skipton as it was ‘the best’. Sadly not any more! The food was always very fresh with rich spices and a good balance. I worked as a chef in Michelin X restaurants so I know what I’m talking about and I have to say that the food was shocking! It was very quickly delivered which was my 1st warning sign and I could tell why. The food is almost certainly pre-made and whether on the premises or elsewear, there is nothing fresh about it. Even the pickle tray tasted bland and straight out of a jar not fresh and vibrant. We ordered a Korma for the children which was bland beyond compare, a Lamb Hydrabady (an old favourite of mine from there), a Murgh Massala Balti (Chicken in Keema sc) 2 pilau rices and the said pickles and popadoms. And the only things that tasted freshly prepared was the popadoms. So disappointed as I had bigged it up to be good. What happened Aagrah? Did you start doing things centrally and transporting the food in? Do you not realise that the standards that got you to where you were are what will keep you there? I cannot see your business continuing to grow unless you halt your alarming slide in quality of cuisine and that would be a shame and sour some very good memories eating at your establishment. I’ve had better curries from Sainsbury’s ready made deli and a damn site cheaper! VERY POOR INDEED!

Four of us visited whilst we were in Skipton, the food is very hit or miss. My original dish (So called award winning) was extremely bland and tasteless "Aachar" (Upon complaining to the waiter this was changed for another dish, whilst this was much better in flavour it lacked attention to detail with large chunks of raw garlic) my friends experience was the same as mine.My wife ordered a Lamb dish which was good how ever my friends wife's curry was poor and over powered with coriander. Keema Nan was good the cheese and onion nan was more like a pizza carrying on the very hit or miss theme of the evening, if you like good quality consistent Indian food this is not the place to visit.

This is the worst Asian restaurant in Skipton. Lots of microwaved dishes and rushed service. Won't return.

A family of 10 of us ate here last night for a birthday celebration. It was dia from start to finish, firstly the drinks came in dribs & drabs a few arrived then the rest scattered over another 10 to 15 minutes. The poperdoms we ordered even came before the drinks. We ordered mains only after that, they took at least an hour to come even though the restaurant was virtually empty. 3 of the dishes were served stone cold so we had to send them back to be heated. The rest of the dishes were just 'Ok' I had lamb bhuna which the Shipley Aagrah get spot on and it was awful the lamb was chewy and there was no flavour whatsoever and the rice was like packet rice. The customer service was beyond attrocious, they couldn't have cared less and even though they weren't busy every time you asked for another drink it was like you were putting them out. We must have asked for table water 5x and it never aŕrived.... We had an email offer at the start of January for 20% off food throughout Jan, we asked for the bill and surprise surprise it was full price so we had to ask for the discount to be added. They were obviously thinking we were a big party and we wouldn't notice. Apparently nothing is cooked fŕesh and it is all frozen brought in.... I cannot believe the standard of this restaurant compared to other Aagrah restaurants. Will never return.

Not the friendliest welcome. Not the best food. Expensive. You can get much better food for less money within walking distance. I don’t know if the staff were having a bad day but everything appeared to be a effort. The curry’s were greasy. Not a good experience.

Family visit on 30th December to celebrate a birthday. Started OK - drinks and starters served quite quickly - then chaos ensued. As we waited and waited for main courses we noticed people around us being served wrong dishes, food standing around on serving trolleys undelivered, and then dishes being sent back because they were incorrect and/or cold. After being in the restaurant for nearly 2 hours we STILL did not have our main courses, despite asking repeatedly about when we would be served. Finally food was brought - and, surprise! - some of it was cold! It had definitely been standing around for some time. We complained to the manager, who insisted the food was hot (when stirred!) - and he kept repeating this despite me putting stone cold dishes of rice into his hands! At no time did he acknowledge the very obvious problem, or indeed that other diners around us were now making similar complaints.

Visited on 30th Dec to celebrate a birthday. Started well with drinks and poppadoms arriving swiftly, then had our main food orders taken by possibly the least charismatic man in Yorkshire. Starters and drinks arrived in a timely manner and the starters were tasty. Unfortunately this was the peak of our experience, with things taking a turn for the worse.

What a fabulous restaurant and staff really friendly. We had the pickle tray to start then startes which were amazing and the main, I just couldn't eat it all but my husband finished it for me. I was very warm halfway through and my face was red, the waiter brought me a drink of water and said is it too hot for me, I laughed and said no but kept the water, How thoughtful, will certainlt be back when in the area.

Heard good things about this chain but we were in the main disappointed with the quality of the food. The service was good but mostly indifferent when confronted with specific requests. The poppadoms were stale and were replaced. Thankfully our party had the Christmas spirit so all was mostly forgiven. On investigation we were informed that the majority of the food was prepared in Bradford and brought over which would explain everything.

Outstanding! Called in for a meal after a hard day working at my mother’s house. I was starving. The staff are so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was brilliant and we will certainly be back!

We arrived quite late last night due to another restaurant letting us down. I'm pleased they did. The friendly waiter took us straight to our table. He gave us menus for food and drinks straight away. We felt like royalty with all the attention we received. We didn't have to wait long for the food. Another friendly and very funny waiter brought out our food. Giving some banter he certainly made me laugh. The food was amazing. The garlic nan was huge and delicious. My husband had the Chicken achar and I had the Kingprawn achar. Both delicious. Thankyou for amazing food and amazing service guys. Keep up the good work. We'll be back next time we visit Skipton.

Went last Saturday with a group of friends. Fourteen of us we booked a table for 8 o’clock. Still waiting for our table at 8.30 and not seated until about 8.45. We ordered quickly as one of our party had to leave at 9.15 to catch a train - she just ordered a starter for this reason, and had to leave before it arrived. Not good. Eventually the main courses arrived - my veg korma had a congealed skin on the top - it had clearly been sitting around for a while. Very basic selection of veg in there, zero effort had gone into making it tasty and interesting. Maybe they don’t care about their veggie customers. The accompanying paratha was inedible - tasted as though it had been brushed with rancid butter. I was really disappointed by the experience. I’ve been to other branches of Aagrah and enjoyed the meal - certainly won’t go back to this one. We were seated very near the kitchen and were aware of loud arguing and the sound of crockery being smashed, so all in all not a very relaxing meal!

I’m not overly fussy about service in restaurants, but I do object to waiters leaning across me without a word to serve another diner when there was nothing to stop them walking around the table. The waiters were quite cold and distant and I certainly didn’t feel particularly welcome.

Alongside the canal in the middlr of Skipton, the Aagrah is well located. We hadnt booked and early evening on a Sunday had to wait for a table. The menu had plenty to offer and we ordered starters and maon courses. Quixotically, the main course was served at the same time as the starters meaning they sat there cooling whilst we ate the starters! The meals were OK, but only that. A Lal Maas said on the menu to be 3 chillies was in my view 2 at best.

We called here for a takeaway whilst on holiday on the Canal. We had poppadom starter (can't really go wrong with that) and a Chicken King Prawn Makrani and another complete meal dish that I've forgotten the name of, with a mushroom pilau and a Peshwari Naan.

I was really looking forward to dining here but my Chicken Bhuna didn’t taste anything like a Bhuna in fact it tasted exactly the same as the other three curries we ordered. My Shikh kebab was lovely but the Shami Kebab was wierd mush that tasted almost of cinnamon or something odd. The nan bread wasn’t the best I’ve had but was ok. Wouldn’t return I’m afraid

After a busy day walking the Dales (22km), I just wanted a quick, filling meal and after another long hunt around Skipton town, I eventually found the Aagrah tucked away next to the canal. My first curry for several years (no Indian restaurants in Italy!!!) comprised a Methi Ghost (lamb+ spinach with fenugreek) which hit the spot completely. Probably not the cheapest but very prompt, courteous service and very tasty, Job done!

Called in a small group, booked for 07:30. Was quite busy but there seemed to be plenty of staff. Took a while to get served, waiters confused between themselves who was doing what. Eventually got drinks and and waiting what seemed an age for food. Despite other tables coming in after us. Tried the lamb kharai, wasn’t good at all. No taste, not much sauce, no vegetables just really bland. Hungry so ate it. Then took what seemed like an eternity to get the bill. The staff were like amateurs and very junior, quite rude how they collected plates and lent over you too whilst they scraped them. Better places to go, give this place a miss.

A couple of weeks ago we had friends visit us from down south. We decided to take them to the Aagrah again as we enjoyed it last time. This time it was a little embarrassing. Curries were served in chipped dishes and the cutlery was cheap and thin. The food was excellent as always but the service was very thin on the ground. We sat near the window and could see wallpaper peeling off the wall. It may sound a little picky this review but the place needs a touch of TLC to bring it back to its best. We will be leaving it a while before we go again.

We ended up here, as it was the closest restaurant to get into from a rain and hail downpour. Service was attentive and friendly, and the food was nice, but one of the rice bowls that came was cold. It was without problem heated up, but not really what one would expect, considering the prices.

Ordered food via just eat and got a call from a very rude man within minutes of placing my £60 order saying that we are over 2 miles away so need to pay a delivery charge on arrival despite it saying free delivery of order over £20. He kept hanging up on us and was very very rude. I was on google maps and we was only 1.8 miles away from the restaurant but he continued to rant about he is too busy. I am just so glad I ordered on credit card as I will be doing a chargeback based on service/order not received as he has refused now to make our food. Never order with this place as service is well below the standard of any other place I have ever used.

We absolutely love this place ! Jamal, Sam and team are absolute diamonds and will create any dish to suite your mood... Tonight for example I had a king prawn ( in the shell ) syletti naga, with lemon, onion and garlic rice with a thin an crispy garlic nan bread and a pea salad ..... Non of it as per menu, I just told Sam what I felt like and Jamal created it .... Awesome food which arrived in good time with clean warm plates and a really nicely chilled white wine.... I've been to many a fancy restaurant and this is anything but and yes it does need a lick of paint and a new chair or 3 but this little gem just hits the spot with what matters... The food and wonderful service. Love Carl and Alicea

We order from this takeaway regularly. Decided to order via phone rather than just eat, to save us extra charges and them. When they show up they charged us extortionate prices for the bare minimum food order we ordered. Put it this way they were very expensive kebabs and donner meat and chips! When rung and confronted about this price they told us they charge just eat prices even without just eat taking the extra cost from them which they don’t state on their business website and had no explanation for this really either. Poor customer service and quite frank a Robbing service too! Think before ordering as I’m sure you could get the same food at half the price elsewhere. Daylight robbery whether they’re over charging or the delivery guy is pocketing the extra money!

Our second visit, while staying nearby on holiday. Generous portions and great value. Could have done with a reminder that it is cash only when ordering by phone, but a cash point is just round the corner. Looking forward to our next visit

Beware if there is only 2 of you wanting to eat out here. Waiter refused to let us sit on a table for 4 because there was only 2 of us. There were 3 empty tables for 4 plus 1 table for 2, but that was pushed up to the service counter and that was the table the waiter offered us. We didn't want to sit immediatly next to where customers would be hovering over us whilst paying for and collecting take-aways and where the phone was ringing and conversations between the waiter and customers were regularly taking place. When he said we couldn't sit elsewhere, I said 'we'll leave it then'. Then the waiter responded, in a sarcastic voice, with a 'BYEEE'. So that's a loss of income for them of between £1500-£1700 over the next year as we would have called in for a sit down meal for two every fortnight, plus a takeaway for two once a fortnight. We then had a meal at one of their competitors and then walked around Settle before heading off home. Whilst walking around Settle we looked into the Spice restaurant again to see if all the tables that we had been refused the use of, had now been taken. There were still 3 tables for 4 that were empty, plus the same table for 2, that is pushed up to the counter, was also empty. PS We had been to the Spice a fortnight earlier and the same waiter had tried to have us sit at the same table by the counter. On that occasion we asked if we could sit on another table and when he said no, we asked 'why not?' He then said 'ok' and we sat elsewhere. We didn't want to go through the same 'negotiation' for a second time. It's dimple, if they don't value us as customers then we'll spend our money elsewhere.
