A genuinely friendly welcome from John, who runs the front of house, and beautiful cooking from Lou made for an excellent dinner. The scallop thermidor starters were superb and Lou very kindly gave me the recipe! Rack of lamb alongside my partners fillets of sea bass were both beautifully cooked and a special mention for the rhubarb crumble for pudding. Finish that off with an exceptional cheeseboard and a couple of glasses of port whilst we had a lovely conversation with both of them and you can’t go far wrong. and you can’t go far wrong

Unpretentious and friendly, run by a husband and wife team. This doesn't look all that special from the outside, but the food is really of a very high quality, and whilst not dirt cheap it is pretty good value for money. We had starters, mains and desserts, and all 6 dishes were excellent (scallops, kidneys in mustard and brandy, steak and ale pie, pea and asparagus risotto, treacle and stem ginger tart and raspberry crème brulee) . The food is mostly "traditional English fayre", and is very obviously home made by somebody who is a talented cook. Service was good (attentive but not overbearing), although as it was busy there was a slight wait between courses. Wine list short but covered all the bases. Overall highly recommended.

I finally visited this restaurant after living in the area for some time, but always kept missing it. The food was outstanding, and reasonably priced. The wine list could do with a few more special bottles on it for such a nice restaurant. I ordered the soup and a main meal, but started to get stomach cramps. This has nothing to do with the restaurant or food I need to mention! I couldn't finish my main course, which I was gutted about as it was delicious, but I kept getting questioned by the staff 'perhaps greedy guts shouldn't have had the soup' and my departing advice from the gentleman serving 'perhaps you should not have a starter next time'. I apologise if I offended you by not eating all of the food you cooked me, but perhaps you should keep advice like that to yourself? Its a shame as I would have liked to visit again, but that sort of put a damper on my experience.

Came across this little restaurant by chance one day. We had only just moved to Malpas and were looking for somewhere to have lunch on a Saturday and we were not disappointed. We were really impressed with the lunch choices available and after visiting on a few Saturday's made this our " go to no brainer" for a Friday night after work treat, and we are still going 6 years later. This little restaurant is set over two floors and there is a lovely friendly atmosphere and the owners John and Lou are professional, attentative, vey entertaining and nothing is too much trouble and I'm a fussy eater, but Lou knows exactly what I like. We can recommend everything, the soups are a amazing, calves livers are also a favourite and the lamb, sea bass and steaks are stunning, and all the produce is from local suppliers. There are also vegetarian choices. There is a good choice of delicious wines and John has some specialty beers for the beer drinkers. It's not very often we have room for a pud as the portions are very large, but have tried most of them in the past and can highly recommend them all.Christmas lunch is " to die for" and wouldn't think of going anywhere else wether we are on our own or with the family, (early booking is a must). The restaurant is also available for private hire on a Sunday and Monday when they are usually closed, and although we have not made use of this we know several regular customers who have enjoyed family celebrations here. Please give "A Table at Eatons" a try and you will not be disappointed.

We were in the area over the Valentine's day weekend, and were out of luck with all the restaurants in nearby Whitchurch. Thank God for SatNav! A quick search showed A Table At Eaton's only a few miles outside Whitchurch in a little town called Malpas. The restaurant is located in the heart of the little town, right on a delightful little Market cross. Parking a little way down the main street, it was a short walk up the little steps to the restaurant. Bright lights and a lovely rustic setting glowed out at us on a cold and blustery night. Entering into the warm candle-lit interior, we were met by an extremely friendly and accommodating gentleman who made us feel so very welcome, and helped us to have one of the best dining experiences yet. Our daughter wasn't left out of anything, and was given her own little portions of some of the adult food, and played happily with some crayons, allowing us to continue our meal. And what a meal it was! Although it was the Valentine's evening special meal, it consisted of a delightful series of juxtaposed flavours and textures. Delicious cheese followed by amazing sorbets, then back to mushroom with delicious cheese sauces, all served with perfectly cooked veggies. As we're vegetarians, we have a good sense of under or over-cooked vegetables, and these were done to absolute perfection. The experience ended with a big caffetiere of coffee, amazing dark chocolate slices, topped with raspberries. The presentation was flawless in every case.My only regret is that we live so far away from Malpas, and will be unlikely to be able to head back there any time soon. However, if we're ever in south cheshire, or shropshire, we will be certain to head back to this fantastic restaurant. If you're in the Whitchurch area, and Etzio's is all booked up, jump in the car, and do yourselves a gastronomic favour, and head out to Malpas!

Managed to eat here on our second attempt, the first time it was firmly shut when advertised as being open, no notice on door ar anything. I can only assume unless they have bookings they don't bother to open. Is that a good way to run a business?Service much better than our last visit but as we were one of only three tables in the place, that may be the reason. The owner spent most of the time we were there chatting to one of the other tables who perhaps may have been regulars, but we were ignored a bit because of this and our starters remained uncleared for a good fifteen minutes. Food average, reasonably cooked and presented, not very imaginative. Probably wont bother again, lots of very good restaurants in the area

We are regular visitors to this restaurant and we love it! Everything is home cooked and, where possible, locally sourced. The owners are lovely and on hand at all times. This place is great if you want a good meal in a small friendly family restaurant. The Duck is outstanding!

I have been to this place a few times over the years ,a Saturday evening, a Sunday lunch or two and a light bite on a Saturday morning and it is good, very good, I have always enjoyed going there . The person who left the "silly silly" comments is a silly silly person.

Well whoever wrote “Horrendous service” needs their head seeing too. We go to this restaurant a lot and it’s my grans favourite eating place, loving family run restaurants, lovely food and atmosphere. We are going back I March for my grans birthday with about 10 family so we are looking forward to that as we always have lovely food.

Lovely food but when we went the place was full but only one person serving drinks /taking orders. It was horrible, he was sweating, wasn't coping at all. The was a lady helping with bringing out the food. We were there for over two hours for two courses. The first course took fifty minutes to arrive. They appear to be trying to cut costs by not employing staff, silly, silly

Homemade food, cooked fresh to order and a seasonal menu means every visit offers something new. Very friendly owners, nothing too much trouble and very fine dining. Has a cosy feel about the restaurant, though can accommodate larger groups too. Lovely for a special evening out. Can offer a high chair for children, and owners would be very accommodating I am sure, though we would probably not choose to take the children to this venue, more a special evening venue than an early meal.

Proper 'home cooked' food with excellent quality ingredients. Sirloin steak cut nice and thick for about £16 with a decent portion of sauce and perfectly cooked veg is a steal. Menu is small, however covers fish, meat and veggie options so no-one will be disappointed and everything is freshly cooked by the husband and wife team. Complimented my steak with some Hobgoblin real ale (no beers on tap but they do have bottles which is fine for a small establishment) which was an excellent match. Good choice of classic desserts, all home made, with proper made thick custard made with double cream! Suggest a night off for 'weight watchers'......

Had been meaning to go for a while, finally got round to it and felt like we were eating in a library. Staff were very friendly but unfortunately the steaks were overcooked, veg soggy and the chips had a burnt taste as though oil was old. Wine choice was great as were chocolate truffle's.

My husband an I were staying locally for a wedding. We came across Eatons by chance and what a lovely meal we had, I especially liked the pan fried cabbage, I had risotto and pork, it was delicious, husband has sirloin that was excellent and there were several choices of sauce to accompany. The sweets were excellent and a nice surprise at the end was the home made chocolate. John and his wife were charming ..... What a team, thank you for a lovely evening.

A table at eatons is something to be cherished. It is a small family run eatery that serves excellent food in unpretentious surroundings. All dishes that were served were very tasty; however, special mention goes to the steak fillet Rossini and the sticky cape pudding. This was our first visit and will not be our last.

I recently took London guests to 'A Table at Eaton's' and cannot speak too highly of the experience. It was a cold night but the welcome soon cheered us. We were presented with an excellent menu. The freshly cooked food was delicious and the service excellent. I can highly recommend this impressive friendly restaurant.

A fabulous bistro style atmosphere with hosts who really take the time to know and understand their customers - I no longer even need a menu. Very friendly, great surroundings and the food is stunning - they have even put special one-off dishes that we like on the menu in the knowledge that we have booked - when my wife last visited with friends, they even sent a special dessert home for me (obviously pitying the babysitter!!). I take my hat off to the service - definately our favourite restaurant in Cheshire.

We had come to Malpas to visit the fascinating Parish Church and felt in need of sustenance before driving home.. Right in the heart of Malpas, facing the Market Cross we found A Table at Eatons [ the husband and wife who run it jointly] A warm welcome , locally sourced fresh food cooked to order , very reasonably priced plus helpful advice about the area -we will certainly come back..It's obviously popular with locals .
