I have visited this bar many times as I’ve been passing through Carlisle station. I can honestly say it’s one of the best bars I’ve ever drank in, the craft beers, IPA’s and ciders are amazing. The food is also top quality, can be a little wait but nothing major, only 10 minutes at most. The staff in here are absolutely fantastic, some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met! There’s multiple times I’ve missed a connection due to late trains but the super staff in 301 are always happy to serve me a drink and have a chat. Would recommend this bar to anyone 😊

Was looking forward to visiting this place as I wanted to support a local business. Unfortunately when waiting at the bar I noticed how incredibly dirty it was so it put me off ordering any food. I took my drinks to the table and didn’t even want to sit down the whole place was filthy and in need of a deep clean. I was hoping to find a funky little independent small business but instead found a grubby little cafe! What a disappointment.

Had an hour to wait before our train was due so decided to have a coffee in this cafe. The young girl working in here greeted us warmly and there was a very good selection of food and drink available. However when we sat down I noticed how grubby and dirty the fabric seats were, we couldn’t sit on them so moved to very comfortable and clean leather sofas. Clean up your act.

My husband and I popped in here whilst waiting for a train to Glasgow. It was quiet around 11:30 , I ordered a glass of wine and a pint of lager for my husband. I noticed the bar was quite dirty with drink spills that hadn't been wiped up, the table we went to sit at was the same and we asked for a cloth to wipe the table. My glass looked quite cloudy as if it hadn't been cleaned properly. The staff a young girl and man served drinks but without any pleasantries. I looked around whilst we were sat there and it seemed quite dirty it just looked like it needed a lot of cleaning. I definitely wouldn't have eaten anything and wouldn't go back.

Visited here as part of a train tour on 14/9/2019.Impressed with how clean and bright Carlisle station is.The "301" is situated on platform just past main station entrance at foot of platform bridge. Nice old worlde station buffet, very clean and pleasant surroundings. You can also get a pint here if you wish.Had Soup of the day (lentil and veg) with a bread roll and large mug of tea. Soup really tasty and filling. Bread roll crusty and warm. Really appetising.

The bar is in the old waiting room with beautiful high vaulted ceilings and open fires at each end which unfortunately were not lit. We ordered a pint of lager and a cup of tea and the 2 bacon and sausage rolls. The rolls were superb-full of lovely tasty bacon and sausage and an excellent price for a station, only £2.80 each. Having arrived by Virgin train we had to wait for our friends to meet us, so we decided to have a drink in 301 as it was cold standing on the station concourse. It is a bar and café inside one of the old waiting rooms at the station, the vaulted roof is an amazing architectural site. The area was very warm and pleasant and at one end of the room was an area with some comfortable chairs in front of a log fire, which unfortunately was not alight when we were there. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there was a good range of beers, spirits and wine on offer as well as coffee and various type of snacks. This bar doesn’t look like much from the outside but the room inside is striking. Generally have a really good range of beers and the service is always friendly. A cancelled train gave us time to shelter in the waiting room but what a waiting room. Apart from the beautiful arched roof and range of comfortable seats - a bar with 7 handpumps selling 1 cider and 6 local real ales. Now if all railway stations had such a nice surprise, and turning a cancelled train turn into a win win! Only advice would be - just keep to your lovely range of local real ales, don't get tempted to sell any of the national stuff.
