1947 Restaurant & Bar in Tower Hamlets

Food was very expensive and was just pk tasting. It was our most expensive and least satisfying meal in our 1 week stay in London.

Lovely little find. Hubby is a veggie so we went here. Although im a meat eater, i thouroughly enjoyed it. I had the butter chicken and hubby had the tikka masala. Priced ok for London prices although we did ask for a glass of tap water, as we had our drinks, but were given bottles for £3 each. The only reason im not giving 5 star is that we felt a bit hassled constantly asking us if we wanted starters as well as popadoms, did we want bread or extra rice...if we did we would of ordered it. I dont enjoy being over sold, however the food was lovely and staff were nice

Appare come un locale abbastanza accogliente, un po’ “trattoria” all’italiana; menù molto vario, ma… “incomprensibile” ai più; cameriere molto disponibile e simpatico. Nell’ignoranza più totale dei piatti, senza spiegazione alcuna, siamo andati diretti sul TIKKA MASALA e PANEER BUTTER MASALA CON RISO BASMATI accompagnato. Tutto gustoso, per chi ama, come noi, questo gusti della cucina orientale. Costi decisamente economici, a fronte di una buona qualità.

Service was excellent. Ambient atmosphere and busy for a cold January Tuesday evening. The food was exceptional tasty - both starters and main course - and well presented. Advice given to suit our tastes. They couldn’t do enough for us. Lovely place. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and will visit again.

I was looking forward to trying out a local vegetarian restaurant. The first course Kachori chaat was good. The main course Dal Tadka was awful..too spicy, and too piping hot. I wish I had just sent the dish back or at least asked to add yoghurt to the dish. Needless to say it was unfinished. Pricing - way overpriced - at £40 quid a head ( not the 10-25 on tripadvisor ( only 2 alcoholic drinks).. I was thinking before the meal that this restaurant / cafe would make a good lunch hangout but after the meal reversed this thought. Plusher venues have than this have better prices, even in the City/central London.

In London one of the most popular cuisines is Indian cuisine, and under the advice of two of my friends who have spent part of their lives in London, we tried Indian food. Nice restaurant, spicy and tasty food for a normal price. Friendly staff and standard service.

Frankly, we expected more and were disappointed. It looks very fancy on social media but it’s not all that. They seated us so close to the kitchen; it was one of the hottest days in England ( 24th July). Probably not given a nice table as we have gift certificates to dine for 4x people. We plan to upgrade but were not impressed as soon as they sat us near the kitchen area (open kitchen). The starter was good. The chicken curry was average and was presented poorly (curry & rice on one plate). I had tasted better. It feels constantly rushed as they want to take the orders straightaway and serve the food too quickly. We don’t have time to rest after the main course and to catch up. Our local Indian that costs half the price has better food. I will not recommend this place or return here.

This cozy and unpretentious resturant was right next to our hotel. After 13 hours of traveling through 5 countries, you don't really care, as long as the food is reasonable and the beer cold. But... what a wonderful experience. The hostess was so friendly and the food came quickly. It was delicious, clearly made with good ingredients from scratch. Finely tuned spicing that could certainly hold attention. The starter was popodums with fine dips, fried mushrooms in a strong and sweet sauce and the main courses vegetarian variations on butter/masala. Jerra rice and Polau rice and fresh Naan - with and without garlic. Cobra beer - and Mango lassi for junior. Friendly and attentive service. £118 for all the glory is a very reasonable price too. We would definitely recommend this place if you love vegetarian Indian cuisine.

I honestly loved the food and the staff were all so lovely and welcoming the only thing I would say is that there menu needs abit more there were only a few choices however the food was amazing would definitely recommend to everyone one Sam was a really nice waiter helped us with almost everything.

I love the food and the Restaurant was fantastic the best one I have went to in London.Probably the best Indian food in an Indian restaurant I ever had. The Bindi Bhaji was awesome. my stomach was so happy after the meal.

Delicious vegetarian Indian cuisine. I can especially recommend the Kadju curry. It doesn’t lure you in from the street but worth a visit. Offering pizza and Italian alongside is a bit disconcerting but it looks good (I haven’t tried it).

We were staying next door at the Travelodge and we came across this wondeful little restaurant. Having Indian and Italian food on the menu together worked so well! Our food was fresh and delicious and the service was great.

I’m not vegetarian so you could say that I wandered in by mistake. Quiet on Tuesday, very simple, non pretentious, welcoming and friendly. I had the Paneer tikka which was excellent. Whether a business traveler looking to break the monotony of hotel stays or on a night out with friends I would recommend this restaurant. Don’t be looking for chicken or lamb.. this is a vegetarian restaurant.

Thjis restaurant has an extensive menu including "Indian" pizzas and "Pasta". Servings of the more traditional dishes are on the small side and relatively overpriced. For example a masala dosa comes as a starter. The service was very slow and the restaurant appeared to be understaffed. Always good (for me) to find pure vegetarian food but this place was a disappointment.

A friendly Indian vegetarian restaurant. The food is fresh and interesting. I don’t normally go vegetarian but the food is definitely worth a try. The owner is very knowledgeable and helped us select a number of tasty dishes. Would definitely recommend a visit. Price wise was reasonable.

Fantastic authentic vegetarian food unlike the several restaurants in London which profess to offer Indian food but are operated by chefs and owners who hail from a neighboring country in the sub-continent and therefore do not offer Indian food in its authentic form . The menu was extensive and diverse. We tried their chats, naan and vegetarian curries which were all superbly delicious. They even offer Falooda for desert, which is how we ended our dinner. The restaurant is operated by the owners (Haresh and Payal) and the care factor to food quality and customer service is very evident. This is my second visit to this restaurant and will look to be here each time I visit London.

Excellent Indian vegan and vegetarian good and outstanding service. Highly recommend. They even serve good pasta and pizza if you for instance bring kids that are not yet into Indian food.
