1931 Restaurant in Liverpool

Called for a meal before going to the theatre - bruschetta was overcooked, prawn linguine was thick and tasteless with frozen prawns with no taste whatsoever - absolutely awful food was very disappointed!!!

Order two starters as a main course and a spicy pizza for my wife’s main course, and asked for all to arrive together.. didn’t happen!.. after a gentle reminder the other meal arrived, no condiments were served or offered to us, and after we had finished our meal.. the waiter produced a pizza that was not ordered. We tried to make him realise that we had not ordered anything else.. and after a lot of messing around he finally sorted it out, just to add their were less than a dozen people in the restaurant. We did get a small discount on the bill, and the food was okay.

NIce food - a little overpriced and portions not that big. Staff very helpful and friendly. Mango cheesecake was amazing! The tip is already added into the bill, so you have to watch out for that. We also had breakfast there the next day, as we were staying a the adjoining hotel, that was brilliant - lots of choice and staff very attentive. Little guy with dyed blonde hair was running around greeting people and organising them - he was very good, and continually being friendly - don't know how he kept it up, he is a credit to the team.

We asked for a bowl of olives to eat while we were waiting for our meals. The olives came twelves minutes later with the food. Then three out of the four meals were brought to the table and we were told we’d have to wait five minutes for the fourth. No apology or explanation. The waiter was surly and unwelcoming. I had the wild boar bolognese which I have enjoyed here before but clearly standards have dipped. There was little meat in the dish. It was not much more than tomatoe sauce and spaghetti. I doubt I’ll return. I feel very let down by the standard of service and food.

We did go late, 8.30pm but having said that we were rushed, as soon as our starters were cleared our mains came. We had pizza but they weren’t enjoyable. My pizza had hardly any toppings on and my daughters wasn’t much better. I wished I had taken a photo. I do feel I’ve had better pizzas that didn’t cost as much, add the service charge on top and that makes a very expensive pizza. All in all a bit disappointing. Also think I should mention that there were quite a few little flies which I managed to catch.

This is a return visit to 1931 restaurant. Tasty food and well presented. It’s pizzas and pastas and delicious salads on the menu. Great choices and whatever you order you will not be disappointed. The staff are lovely. I had the calzone, it was delicious and spicy which I like. I would recommend dining here for a memorable time.

Easy going lovely staff great food cooked and prepared in view - treated really well by all staff - atmospheric being across the road from the Philharmonic Hall - would recommend for pre concert treat

We love coming here. It has such a lovely chilled atmosphere, very clean and the staff are always attentive and down to earth. The food is delicious too. This time round we tried the pizzas with a bottle of white wine. Service 10/10 again. We will be back soon x

Gets busy with hotel guests, particularly those attending events at the Philharmonic opposite. I ate around 5pm and the restaurant was not busy. Food is very average. I ordered Bruscheta. The bread was like a mini pizza and not like traditional authentic bruscheta. I had prawn linguini served in a cold plate. The food portions were fine and the food tasted ok, but nothing mire. Food has a fast food, production line feel to it. Don't expect anything remotely Italian. Expect to pay circa £25 for 2 courses.

This is an excellent resturant when one is attending a concert (Suzi Quatro since you ask!) at the Philamonic Hall, which is just over the road. The peopel are pleasent and efficient. Food a good quality for the price.

This is a perfect eatery especially if you are going to show or gig at the Everyman or The Philharmonic (which we were). The booking went smoothly for a party of 6 and the food and staff were fab. The Pizza's and pasta dishes were perfect and we all enjoyed the dinner before hopping (10 seconds across the road to The Phil) .... to see Suzi Quatro

Booked before theatre as so convenient for Liverpool Philarmonic which is literally across the road. Delicious pizza with exceptionally helpful & friendly staff. Tried the pizza base with Nutella and vanilla ice cream, was amazing. Would highly recommend.

Staff more interested in chatting to each other than serving customers. Impossible to get their attention. Only 2 other tables occupied so no excuses

Lovely restaurant opposite the Philharmonic Hall, good service, nice ambience and with a Tastecard offer even better value for money. I’d definitely recommend.

Service was spot on, all the staff were friendly and knew their stuff. We had 3 courses each, plus sides and drinks, and everything we had was delicious. The mozarella garlic bread was amazing! You could tell it was all good quality ingredients, cooked expertly. The price we paid for 3 courses plus sides was such good value. Honestly I can’t wait for an excuse to go back!

There was a lovely balance between professionalism and friendliness from the staff team. Lovely food, good sizes so we had plenty but also room for Biscoff cheesecake. The servers were excellent. The sharing mezze was ideal for three people but I could have eaten the flatbreads and hummus all evening - simple but gorgeous.

Food was absolutely lovely, very generous portion sizes. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Would definitely go back again!

We had a lovely lunch. Good portion size and very flavoursome. Our waitress was great too, super efficient, friendly and welcoming. We’ll be back in the very near future!

My wife and dined here for Sunday lunch and it was really good as usual. As non-meat eaters there are really good veggie choices, I had my usual Fiorentina pizza with egg and spinach and my wife had the Melanzane pide with aubergine, peppers and pomegranate seeds and we had a mixed salad to share. The food is lovely, both pizza and pide were freshly made, both a generous size with lots of toppings. The salad was a good size and very fresh. We had a glass of trebbiano white wine and a grapefruit tonic to drink which we both enjoyed. The staff are friendly and helpful and we always enjoy our visits to 1931.

Delicious food. Fair prices. Fast service. Cooked in sight which is always a bonus in our eyes. Clean areas. Overall experience was excellent. We’ll definitely return.

We booked here for a large pre wedding family meal, and everyone enjoyed their food. For a party of 18, food was brought out in good time, still very hot and almost all together. Portion sizes were very good and everyone enjoyed their meals.

I went here for a meal after a spa day. The food was ok, I wouldn’t say it was great. My main “concern” so to speak was that I got into the restaurant at 5.15, by 5.32 I had been served my starter and my main. Starter of bruschetta was really nice and fresh, really enjoyed it. However, I ordered bolognese for main and I did overhear the chefs asking eachother “was this pasta frozen?”. This combined with the speed at which my pasta was served made me question how fresh the pasta dish was and as someone who suffers with emetophobia, it did kind of put me off the main. That being said? If I go back, I’d probably get a pizza because you can see the dough being made fresh and the bruschetta was served on that fresh dough, which was really nice. Must say that the staff were really friendly and attentive too.

We had a few options on Hope Street & so glad we chose 1931. Beautiful hot fresh pizza & pasta. Pizza so large I couldn’t finish. Relaxed atmosphere & fabulous service. Will definitely return.

The mezze to share quite average .. too many olives not enough humous and bread . Very oily Goats cheese salad drowned in balsamic dressing .. too acidic .. a shame as lots of good salad in there .

Stayed at the Hope Street Hotel overnight when visiting the Phil, and booked in advance an early evening meal before visiting the Theatre. As it turned out we arrive early in Liverpool and checked out the evening menu and realised it would make a super lunch spot as well before walking down to Liverpool One and Albert Dock. Waiter was great and allowed us time to plan both a lunch snack and our evening meal. Both great quality and reasonable price. No rush or pressure in the evening to enjoy our meal and stroll across the road to the Phil. Thanks 1931 great day out in Liverpool.

Situated just over the road from one of Liverpool’s cultural jewels, the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, the 1931 Restaurant played an excellent host for all nine of my family members ahead of a Philharmonic concert. The service was faultless, the food delicious, and it really put us in the right frame of mind to enjoy classical music (especially when it features Nobuyuki Tsujii as Pianist). I tried the 1931 Quattro pizza, it was served nice and thin with excellent toppings and it left enough room for a biscoff cheesecake dessert although the highlight was the Sharing Dessert which is an ice cream dessert served in a wide bowl on a stem and made all of us adults behave like children as all the spoons dived in!!! I’ll be back, strongly recommended by me, a well deserved 10/10.

I quite often eat at 1931 before going to the Philharmonic. The staff have consistently provided excellent service and I have never been disappointed. Booking online very useful too.

I ordered an alcohol free beer & specified alcohol free twice… they brought the bottle & it was regular lager. My sister & I had to ask twice for cutlery We had to go to the counter to order drinks as no one came to our table half way through the meal & we wanted to reorder. Food was tasty Asked for the bill three times ; eventually it came…. Wouldn’t go back due to poor service

Food was excellent, drink options were good. The decor and ambience was great. The only downside was the lady taking our order and checking if our meals were ok was half hearted. She took our order and then lifted the menus, never said thank you. Then when she asked if our meals were ok we didn’t realise she was talking to us because she didn’t look at us and was stood at the table next to us ready to do their order. Also, we had starters and then our mains arrived and our cutlery wasn’t replaced so had to wait to eat our mains till cutlery had come- service needs improving slightly.

The front of house staff and kitchen staff take a bow. Our party most impressed with quality of food and attentive service, all representing good value. Good atmosphere and always made to feel welcome.

Excellent service and great quality food. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. The menu was varied and offered a wealth of vegetarian and vegan options. The pizzas were huge and covered with tasty toppings. The tuna Niçoise salad was great too. I would definitely recommend 1931 as it isexcellent value for money

Service was great atmosphere lively and food was great. My pizza was particularly good. It was a perfect place for a pre show meal before we went into the Philharmonic hall. Directly across to road and we could see any queues through the window.
