1842 Restaurant & Bar in Preston

Went for a works leaving do. Some of tables were separate and we were struggling to put all the food on the table. Food was fine. Loved my cocktail. Barman was super friendly and helpful.

We've never been here before and had made a reservation. The staff were hospitable and attentive. We were served by Jo and Tatianna who were excellent and clear assets to the business. The food was unbelievable. We had ordered a few plates from the menu and they were all delicious but one that stood out the most was the seabass, perfection is an understatement. Thankyou guys you made Mother's Day one to remember.

Great afternoon with friends. The selection of food we had was very good, and we especially enjoyed the sliders. Cocktails and drinks all good and served promptly. Great atmosphere inside, and it was made even better by the excellent, helpful, friendly service from the lovely staff. Can't wait to go again.

The building is stunning and the waitresses are great - however we went as 4 people ordering 9 dishes between us and the food was very disappointing. Tasteless, very small inconsistent portions even for tapas, broccoli was over cooked and the lamb kebab had only 2 tiny pieces of meat per skewer - we were shocked and with only one dish coming at a time, it meant we had to ask for more than one at a time as it was getting a ridiculous wait. We ordered more drinks and again after a long wait had to ask where our drinks were. We had eaten a lovely Tapas meal in Lincoln last weekend which as delicious and cheaper. This was my first experience of what should have been a lovely family meal at your restaurant that was overpriced and unfortunately we won’t be returning - such a disappointment !!

Nice place for a catch up with friends

Where do I begin! I went on the 14/2/24 with my partner, the staff, Joe, Amber, Whitney, Tom, Mark and Brandon were absolutely amazing, they were so attentive and polite, and extremely accommodating considering my allergy. They kept checking in on us all night asking us how the food was and how our nights been. They went beyond providing a service with a smile and provided a service that I’ll never forget, the cocktails were absolutely astonishing, the food was mouth-watering and everyone was so polite and lovely to chat too. There wasn’t a moment we felt unattended to I cannot thanks, Joe, Whitney, Amber, Tom, Mark and Brandon.

As regulars (at least once a month and who often buy vouchers for family and friends). Very disappointed on our lastest visit. Warm breads cold, soggy and wet, sent them back, same plate returned to us. Not a good response. Chicken with ham and pesto completely dry, hard, inedible and looked like the day befores warmed up offerings. No member of management on hand just Uni students running what used to be a fabulous place to go to. Then asked by said uni students to pass our critique on, we told her, she took full payment and said thanks and goodbye. Sadly we won't be frequenting this establishment again anytime soon. Such a shame

Just over near to the prem inn , never been to Preston before and this looked positive online . Nice bar . Not disappointed not busy at all but was well served by Jo whose service was excellent and was happy to talk to me about the city . Food is taspas Style I had bread stater plus two dishes and was well stuffed . Cocktails were great

I went as a last minute dinner while in town. Gorgeous staff, very chill and friendly atmosphere. I had my dog with me & she was welcome- given some water and treats which is always a bonus. Food was quick to arrive and was just what I needed. Very lovely place would definitely return to try more off the menu!

Great service and food. Cocktails look mega. Me and my friend had the candy pants one but none alcoholic and it was very very nice. One part of the meal came out tad later than the other parts due to some issue in the kitchen and they were so apologetic and came over with free shots but we told him we didn’t drink so he came back over with a chocolate for us. Would 100% go there again. Very sophisticated and classy. Chilled vibes.

The food was really great. The serving sizes were just enough, and really amazing🤗👌. The place had a fantastic atmosphere, and we enjoyed everything about it. We had a really good time there. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived until we left. We're excited to go back again soon. 😊

Beautiful place very quaint loved it

We hosted our wedding at The Ivory Tower and we were genuinely blown away. Steph and Olivia have extremely high standards when providing services from the singer, DJ, flower arrangements/room decor, food etc - everything was perfect. The room and night was set up in such a way that everyone mingled. The food was great and drinks aplenty! Our guests commented on what a great night it was which was an added bonus. By far above our expectations, this is not your stereo typical function room, it's a venue that will blow away your guests. The staff we're extremely friendly and always went out of their way to help, the event coordinators Olivia & Steph made our dreams a reality and worked with the kitchen to put together the best charcuterie I have seen in my life. Other than putting rings on fingers, this venue was the highlight of our special day Thank you!

Been here a few times, most recently for a wedding, and it's always exceptional. The food was delicious and their selection of drinks is amazing. Would highly recommend their homemade gin- there are so many different flavours and any I've tried have tasted incredible. Definitely not to be missed if you're in Preston!

Tapas type food was good. Arrived in a timely fashion. Music was good, even if it was a bit too loud, but that's par fir the course these days 😕

Really impressed with 1842. It goes without saying it's a fabulous building, really lovely inside too. We popped in on the off chance last night and luckily the lovely girl on the front desk was able to fit us in. It was very busy with a great vibe. All the staff were extremely friendly and polite and the food was out of this world. Will definitely visit again but will make sure to book next time as it's a popular venue. Highly recommended.

Great service, amazing food, great atmosphere

We went for some cocktails. Nice environment. I didn't particularly like the cherry Bakewell cocktail, but that is definitely just personal preference, the cocktail itself was well presented. All the bar staff were great.

Visited today and ordered 4 different plates of which all tasted great and were cooked perfectly. I've been here previously and enjoyed the cocktails but trying the food was definitely a great idea today.

Ivory tower is a great venue, excellent food although drinks are pretty pricey as at most wedding receptions.

I recently arranged a hen party at 1842 for 26 people, and we all had a fantastic time. The food was spot on, and the cocktails were fantastic. Big thank you to Stephanie and Brandon and the staff who served us on the night. They made sure everything ran smoothly. I would 100% recommend this venue for a large group.

A cozy environment, with traditional English style. Very attentive at all times, tasty and abundant food. Good service at a reasonable price. I don't give them the fifth star because the letter is only in English.

Looking for a light supper on my own , walked in on a quiet Sunday evening. Friendly service and lovely meal (meatballs and stuffed mushrooms) washed down with a Peroni and small glass of Merlot. Lovely venue, and I want to know who chooses the playlist, which was great! Totally recommend, even for solo diners, who are rarely loved.

After 2 previous cancellations we finally managed to go to the restaurant. And we were not disappointed. The building is quirky but in a very practical way. I was greeted by Nathan who was exceptional. We had a table near the window & although it was quiet the place was warm. We selected 2 tapas each & that was ample for a lunch. My wine was lovely although a little expensive but I did go for New Zealand Saugvinon Blanc. The other drinks appeared to be reasonable & a vast selection of cocktails. We don't usually have dessert but it was well worth having. Baileys & hazelnut parfait was delicious. An excellent afternoon catch up with fabulous food. The only let down was the weather ❄️

When its open its decent. The cocktail menu is good and varied. Times on Google and website are wrong though. Wasted a lot of time and effort going to the venue to find it completely shut at 20.25. Online says 23.00 close. A lack of appreciation for people's time is poor

Pub Review - 1842 - Preston’s old Stock Exchange building is now a large bistropub, with rather expensive drinks, and a tendency to stay closed even at peak times so it seems a bit of a lottery guessing whether they are open or not. Staff seemed untrained and it took three of them to sort out a simple ale pick I made from the beer pumps. There were only a handful of customers in during my visit. Interesting decore including an old church pulpit, spoilt by being decorated with the 1842 logo.

Great experience on my graduation day, amazing and kind staff. They even signed me a menu with a farewell. Lovely staff and food with vegan options.

What a shame that they couldn’t be bothered to update that they are closed for two weeks in January and don’t even have a message on the door either

Went to 1842 on our Christmas Do at the weekend. There was 18 of us and everything was perfect. The food was really good and everyone really enjoyed it. Staff were really accommodating and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

The food is very good we tried many different dishes and they were all very tasty. The drinks menu is huge, cocktails are exceptional. Great service (a bit slow but it was a busy Saturday night to be fair), couldn't ask for a better night.

We attended for a Women in Property event. The staff were exceptional, made us all very welcome and the service was fab. Took a cocktail Masterclass (Jacob?) Which was fun and super informative. Went on a work night out and could not fault anything... the food was lovely , cocktails even more so and the manager and staff where so accommodating. They couldn't do enough for us. The candyfloss cocktail went down a treat for many ... definately recommend for groups of people .

I came to 1842 for a colleagues leaving meal from Clarks. Our lovely manager was able to coordinate all 20 of us with our pre ordered meals and with no problems from 1842. As we arrived, we were all promptly seated and greeted and not left empty plated or empty glassed through out our entire stay. We were there, close to 3-4 hours and the Front of House Manager was incredibly attentive and made sure all requests were acknowledged and fulfilled. The food was spectacular! I personally had the scallops and prawns and they were seasoned to perfection 🥰. I truly felt like we weren’t in Preston! I’d highly recommend 1842 for any large bookings, purely for the ease and stress-free nature it was! Such a dream, I’ll be back I’m sure!
