Not my first message and definitely not my last message a very good place to have business meals and business gatherings, very good menu recently updated, very much welcome to spend as much time here as possible eating, drinking, socializing. It seems to be something of an Oasis in the very center of a very busy London.

I stopped here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the selection on the menu including set menus choices and 3 course meals and desserts. The wine list was 2nd to none, other non alcoholic drinks and beverages are also available. I had the vegetarian tomato mozzarella and pesto panini with a side order of the most delicious chips I've ever had. The bill did not break the bank, I found it to be very cheap and I highly recommend this delightful little gem of a restaurant.

Guest in a party of 4 at this spacious restaurant in the lovely Law Society building at the lower end of Chancery Lane. The catering is sub contracted to Ampersand so the fare and service might be unkindly compared to school dinners. The waiter declined to take our coats and bags suggesting that there was no facility available for them. Instead we had to drape them over our chairs or just heap them on the floor. Strange and not at all welcoming. The menu was quite interesting but the finished product left much to be improved. Soft herring roe with samphire on sourdough (£4.25) failed as the bread should have been toasted and well buttered. Sadly it was cold and dry and leathery. Likewise the samphire had some unpleasant wiry pieces which could not be eaten. For main course I chose steak & kidney pudding (£13.95) with mash and roasted winter vegetables. The presentation was poor as the overall impression was bland institutional food with boiled/steamed not crusty roasted veg and with a paucity of rich, meaty gravy. I had to ask for English mustard to provide some flavour. I am afraid that this establishment will not be one for my notebook.

Visited for lunch with a friend. Entering the Law Society steeped in history is always a pleasure. The restaurant is just to the right on entering, so easily accessible. It has a modern feel compared to the rest of the building; quite relaxing but can become very warm. We were presented with only one menu and it was somewhat limited, but our order was beautifully presented and in good time.On this occasion I had fish and chips for a main which were delicious; crispy light fish batter sitting on a few, crispy, non greasy thick cut chips with mushy peas and tartre sauce. It was a little pricey for quick lunch, but it was delicious. For a starter and main meal for two (we were informed they no longer offer desserts), with a bottle of still water the price was approximately £50.00. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet for a lunchtime, but this was welcome as we were able to have a peaceful conversation. I would certainly go again.

I have been eating in this restaurant, in its varying incarnations, for a long time: it gets revamped, periodically and, although the staff are unvaryingly pleasant and helpful, the menus are changed only once a month and cannot seem to decide what style they want to follow follow, in any listing: this is not even fusion cookery, but an attempt to offer a dish or two of differing cuisines in the hope that people will find something to please them. Unless they like large (and expensive) burgers with chips delivered in those pretentious little deep-fry baskets, or a vegetarian, european-style curry, it is not always easy, I fear. I do not think that the restaurant staff have any control over next month's menu, and after luncheon service ends, where is usually no food available in the building. Like many other organisations, the Law Society raises revenue by hiring rooms for private functions. This means that 113 can get full of members displaced from other parts of the building - and even Society staff come in and hold meetings (which they have ben seen to do even in the Library, as well). So, while I like the staff I see, and the food is , like the curate's egg, good in parts, and the "quick lunches" can work to get people into court by 2pm (provided the place has not been swamped by the displaced) the atmosphere, during the day, anyway, leaves a lot to be desired, although I quite like to sit with coffee and my laptop when things are quieter

The perfect venue for a late lunch today and can particularly recommend the smoked chicken Caesar salad for the starter and the sea bream and risotto for the main. A little quiet in the restaurant but a nice break out area where is was possible to watch the tennis.

Lunched here last Friday with my wife, adult son and his fiancée. Give other rave reviews we have a very different perspective. Service was mediocre, but fois and drink were pathetic : wrong wine opened and served without showing label ( cheap champagne instead of the Laurent Perrier clearly ordered), the fish and chips main course was dried up, very crunchy thick greasy batter, greasy heavy chunks of potato that as chips that would have been appropriate at a corner cafe, the cheese platter offered no choice of selection but fixed small curled up bits of cheese, had to ask for the crackers separately, etc etc . Poor. Not expected. Did not spoil our occasion because it was lovely to see our son and fiancée so happy. But we will not return . This is a place to avoid trading on its "in house" location at the Law Society. It is not a top restaurant. The food is much better (and far cheaper) at the Institution of Civil Engineers cafeteria...

The 113 Restaurant is located in the Law Society building in Chancery Lane. The Restaurant offers a two course 'Express' lunch time set menu for just under £10, which represents exceptional value for money. Other options are available if one finds the 'Express' menu too limiting. The food and the service was reasonable and the venue is perfect for a Business meeting or a catch up with friends over lunch. (Note, the Restaurant doesn't open of an evening.) I am at pains to stress that this Restaurant is isn't appropriate for budget travellers or those with small children as it is geared towards those in the professions and client-business meetings. There were some minor imperfections. We weren't offered the Drinks Menu so had to order blind. Also, £2 for a small soft drink seemed a touch overpriced. Nevertheless, I would visit again.

Had a brilliant lunch here. there is a variety to choose from in terms of menus. The set menu or the daily special menu is plush, fine dining on a generous scale. The restaurant is very modern and chic yet the building is the headquarters of The Law Society of England and Wales. had an absolutely great experience here and I heartily recommend this venue.

Normally this is very reliable and good food but not sure what went wrong this time. They now have a 2 course quick menu. Smoked chicken starter was great and as I am not keen on very spicey food I opted for the burger......this arrived in a great big bread bun and sadly was so overcooked as to be almost inedible. It was dry and hard and very disappointing. I will go again as I hope this was a one off but really to overcook a burger to that extent takes some doing.

I was not expecting such a good meal - but this was a delightful surprise. I have commented below on the soup and the burger, both of which were well-presented. The soup contained some entire tomatoes, which were a bit of a surprise, but I am not complaining. The burger was well-cooked (no choice there) but the bun was very soft below a slightly crispy surface, and the chips were outstandingly good, being crisp on the outside and floury within. Onion rings were extra but worth it: they were light, with a particularly good flavour, and a complete lack of rubberiness of the onions insideThe service was friendly and unobtrusive. If I have a complaint (and this is NOT aimed at the restaurant) it is that the number of private functions held by the Law Society means that public rooms are closed to members: the Society's staff has acquired a habit of leaving their air-conditioned offices to hold meetings in the members' rooms, and this has become decidedly irritatingHaving said that, I am more than happy to give this restaurant a very positive report, and I will look forward to returning there (where, incidentally, the menus change, monthly)

In London for our daughter's law graduation at the Law Society (but the restaurant is open to everyone), it seemed a great idea to lunch here beforehand. We didn't expect too much, but were pleasantly surprised and feel this restaurant very much holds its own with other quality London restaurants. The restaurant is very attractive and the food and service were really top-notch. We had the set lunch menu (£25 for 2 courses and glass of prosecco) and would just note that the Indian spiced options seemed very spicy indeed to us, so bear that in mind if you only like lightly spiced food!We did a walk all around the beautiful legal district (from a London Walks book) and thought this would make a lovely lunch-stop at a convenient halfway point.

Beautiful historic Law Society building where the very modern restaurant is open to the public. There is a set 3 course luncheon or a la carte menu We took advantage of a deal on a very quiet wet Monday lunchtime - the choices were good (although some of the Indian inspired dishes were apparently a little over spiced for the patrons on the next table): the desserts were excellent and the house wine very palatable. Coffee is just under £2 a cup - a real bargain in itself. The atmosphere is quiet and fairly refined with the majority of our fellow diners being city (if not legal) types.Makes for a different lunching experience at a fair price

It was my daughter's graduation day and we decided to eat in the Law Society's 'own' restaurant, good decision! We all chose from the 2-course dinner which costs £20 but includes a glass of prosecco (which is usually £6.00). We all had different starters which were vey good, two had the chicken main & I chose the rogan josh as the head chef is Indian. It was the best rogan josh I have ever eaten and I've had a few! Service with most professional and friendly, would not hesitate to go again when next around Chancery Lane.

On route from the Royal Court of Justice (purely as a group of four tourists) to the Charles Dickens Museum, we called in for lunch at this restaurant. We chose different starters and three different mains. They were all delicious and we ended up sampling each other's dishes. The prices were no more than one would pay in a decent pub with desserts typically priced at £5. I can strongly recommend this restaurant and would visit it again. There was a female Maitre D, but I didn't catch her name ( very helpful and nice as well) lovely cappuccino before lunch then I had some of the best fish and chips that I can remember. ( I got in engaged in Rick Steins Padstow ) the chips were large, crispy on the outside and beautifully fluffy on the inside. For pudding I had the Pavlova. More of a tart than a pavlova, but lovely just the same. I am looking forward to visiting 113 again very soon.

We made a lunch reservation for 30th December via the website several months ago and have received a series of emails, including one on the 29th (together with details of menus) confirming that everything was ok.This was supposed to have been a special occasion and our purpose for travelling to London was purely to take some Italian associates and family to see the Law Society's building. Imagine our shock as we arrived just before 1pm to discover that both the restaurant and Law Society was closed - with no explanation or indication of why/when it would be open. We tried calling both Opentable and the restaurant, but there was no response on either number. This completely ruined the day as we then struggled to find an alternative location at such short notice. This caused no end of embarrassment and as well as disappointment for our guests who had expressly asked to be taken there. The whole day proved to be an expensive waste of time.I understand that last minute emergencies can happen, but there has been no attempt to contact us to say there was a problem or to give any kind of explanation or apology.I am fairly speechless at the whole experience and can only suggest before booking that you remember the advice 'Buyer Beware'!

This business operates within a magnificent (if faded) landmark building, the home of English lawyers The Law Society. So, as you would expect, the space is impressive. Gilded entrance ways greet, assorted severe and humane-looking lawyers peer back from portraits and a seemingly constant stream of earnest intern types dash about with files or takeaway hot chocolate orders - in some cases both! OK, so far so good. This is obviously a busy key British institution. The trial here, for me at least, started as I began to access catering services. My heart sank as I soon realised this to be one of those tiresome outlets where having 'a Caff' on site had been deemed a good idea but one which in its half-hearted execution proves a poor effort. There were staff who found little else to do but fawn and then fiddle with the orange Gerbera, Don't you go confusing that with good attentive service. Like me you'll discover (in overheard engagements) there to be mis-recorded orders and absent accompaniments. Maya Angelou wrote, "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time." Good advice always. Because I had dropped in for a coffee with a future lunch date in mind and wanted to "case the joint" (as my old Brief would say!)I ordered and paid and stood watching while a barista (barrister? No, barista) began to prepare my cappuccino. Suddenly, my cup was abandoned to prepare a pot of Earl Grey for a clearly familiar (albeit 'senior') female he was by now in full flow chat with. With her tray delivered he returned to complete my drink. I was speechless and so it was without another word spoken between us I retired to a corner to drink it and consult tripadvisor for my future lunch date venue. I can't even report a first class cappuccino. So, don't get caught out here. Enjoy the building - but avoid the victuals!

Visited for a business lunch on a quiet summer Monday and was very pleasantly surprised. Selected this restaurant as we had an American visitor - this is an ideal venue for giving visitors a taste of historic London and seasonal, modern British food. We booked through top table and got an excellent lunch of two courses and a glass of prosecco/cava for £15 per person. Service was attentive and friendly but not imposing (although I think we were the only people actually in the restaurant, so it would have been a little disappointing if the service had been slack!). Torn between wanting to recommend this place to all but also wanting to keep this a hidden gem amongst the hustle and bustle of most lunch venues in the area!

I was taken to 113 for lunch by my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. We met in a pub first ("The Castle" on the corner of Furnival Street and Norwich Street - excellent/coal fire/very good range of real ales on draught). I had not asked where we were going for lunch, so was surprised when I was led to The Law Society. Their building is old and beautiful and the view onto Chancery Lane from our table by the window was an attractive one.The restaurant is furnished in a modern but fairly dull style and doesn't have much in the way of ambience. However, we were warmly welcomed on arrival and the service was excellent throughout. The menu is not large: always a good sign, in my opinion. We each had a starter, a main course and coffee; we shared a bottle of 'Bacchus' by Chapel Down, which was very good. Starters were a soup, a smoked chicken salad and Portobello mushrooms. Mains were hake with butter beans and saffron (2) and fish and chips. We all enjoyed our food: the portions were just right and everything was nicely presented. I was not paying (hurrah!), but the cost would have been about £30 each, which I guess is about right by current standards.

Over the years the Law Society's Hall has had all sorts of dining facilities for its members. There used to be a grill room for fine dining and a canteen-style dining room. Well, the grill room has long gone. Pru Leith had the outlet for some time. The Six Clerks has now become 113 Restaurant and Bar.The problem is that solictors do not appear to want to have lunch. And the general public are put off crossing the threshold of the Law Society's Hall.Evolving to 113 Restaurant and Bar is presumably an attempt to get after work drinkers to stay on and eat in the evening. The food is adequate, but not memorable.

This restaurant is located in the Law Society building on Chancery Lane and was, until recently called "Six Clerks Restaurant & Bar". It has been modernised with a resulting change in menu and increase in prices. The modernisation is a pity in my opinion, give the history of the location, somethings should be retained historically. It is now just another modern restaurant and not somewhere that I would rush to. The staff were friendly enough and attentive but the food was uninspiring and did not live up to expecations. We visited on the occasion of our daughter being accepted into the Law Society as a qualified lawyer so it was a bit of a celebratory lunch. We had a starter and a main each plus a bottle of wine and the total bill was £84 including the tip. Our starters consisted of 1) Bay Potted Shrimp 2) Soft Rabbit Terrine 3) Black Pudding Scotch Egg. The Rabbit Terrine was the best of the lot; the Black Pudding Scotch Egg was dissappointing due to the very processed texture of the Black Pudding, which was a pity as it surrounded a beautifully cooked egg with a lovely, creamy, soft yoke, very unusual for a Scotch Egg as the yoke tends to be hard. If only the Black Pudding had been more crumbly it would have been fantastic. The Potted Shrimp was not great, far too much clarified butter and not enough Shrimp. For the mains we had 1) Lambs Liver - very good, the best main 2) 2 x Blue Cheese Tart - these were awful; they were not tarts just a small portion of blue cheese and other bits and bobs plonked on top of a pastry crust, there was no substance to the dish and the side salad garnish did little to provide sustenance. I'm sorry to say that I would not rush back.
