1066 Cafe in Hastings

Stopped in on my bike as it had started to rain, very welcoming and friendly staff and the cooler breakfast was lovely. I will definitely be making this place a stop on my ride outs in the future.

Stopped here on way home from Hastings following a ride out with friends. There’s ample parking in front of the cafe for bikes and cars, and a decent amount of picnic bench seating outside. We had full English breakfasts and were happy with both the quality and price of food. There is also a bike clothing shop attached to the cafe with a good selection of protective clothing and biker merchandise.

After lockdown for 3 months it was joy to be back at 1066 for coffee and scone, and they didn’t disappoint. Very well organised , sanitiser on table when you enter. Paper cups and plastic knifes now to use. Less table and chairs so spaced out nicely. The only thing really missing was no serviettes but I always carry wipes So bare that in mind .All in all pretty good for 1st day ? 😀

This is our regular Saturday stop where we enjoy lattes and hot chocolates. The cheese and bacon pastry is excellent and even better is the hot bacon and brie croissant.

Yes they do vegan shakes and smoothies as well which are all very good and generous in size so well worth a try if you are in the hospital - staff are all jolly and friendly as well which helps - they take cards as well as cash

Great coffee served by lovely staff. The eccles cakes are to die for. Smoothies are lovely. Give it a try you wont berry.

Invariably the queue is rather long. However the snack variety is good...soup, cakes, sandwiches, salads, coffees....the service friendly. They also offer takeaway at a reduced cost. If you want some modestly priced sweets go next door to the hospital shop, or a paper /magazine to read while in the cafe...likewise. They have soya milk for the coffee and vegan sandwiches.

For the cost of items is a bit much and would help if they accepted Carers Card...also more gluten free products

Beautiful place to stop after a hard day of shopping or business... Quick service,hot food and piping hot drinks... Reasonably priced for the food and service they provide in a very busy precinct of Hastings busy town. Clean tables and seating always a bonus

I popped into this cafe and wow I had their fruity porridge for breakfast and their tuna salad pot for lunch. Both was lovely. Really loved the porridge so much that I'm here again today and had another one yummy!!!!

It’s very efficient and quick here, it lacks a little bit of friendliness but it’s not unfriendly. The cinnamon swirls and iced buns are amazing and huge. I love the coffee, plus there are milk alternatives too .

The staff are friendly here and the coffee is nice and of good quality - the food is fresh and tasty

Visited a good few times this last week while visiting and the staff were always very polite and helpful and the bakery choice was excellent. Tables quickly cleaned and the bacon sandwiches and cinnamon swirls are amazing, just what you need when you need a bit of comfort.

Having travelled 5 hrs to get to the hospital to see my very poorly mum what a fantastic welcome from the staff at the 1066 coffee shop. Clean, modern, great food choices, friendly people made a distressing time a little easier. Thank you

Tried this cafe for something quick as my diabetic wife needed to eat. Cafe was clean tidy, had a fair choice of hot & cold foods as well as a freezer full of frozen ready meals you could buy and warm up in their microwave.

This provided a lovely calm Oasis to enjoy a drink and a cake while visiting sick relatives in hospital. Bottle water is cheaper next door in the "Friends" of the hospital shop.

I do not think that you can fault the staff here at all as they are all so happy and friendly as well as being so professional

There is nothing positive to say about this cafe. It’s over priced, the quality of products doesn’t match the price! The service is the worst I have seen in a while and the staff attitude is poor. They appear completely disorganised and you will wait for a coffee to take away for over 5 minutes whilst they serve the people behind you in the queue first. Absolute joke!

We came to visit a family who is on end of life care, we went to have a coffee because of emotional distress we just want to have a place to have a chat with a family member and have a coffee. We cant believe the staff attitude towards us, so rude and unable to explain why our order is wrong. We just want to have a simple explnation I know everyone had a bad time but its not necessary to behave like that. Instead we left and leave our orders. Avoid this coffee shop its better to go somewhere else.

Havnt been here since the refurb and was pleasantly surprised. Looked really nice and clean and well presented. However, considering this is a hospital, customer service was awful! Firstly taking everyone's drink orders at once leaving everyone standing waiting making the place look cluttered and staff flustered making drinks...i would hate to see what it's like when it's busy!!

Beautiful cakes lots of choice and very tasty but disappointed the scones have shrunk so much . I noticed this in the town cafe too. Such a shame x

Unfortunately, I visit the hospital on a reguarly and often wait in the 1066 cafe. The food is good but I don't like the staff not wearing hats or gloves when handling food. I also don't like that items with meat in them are put next to vegetarian items, for example the cheese and bacon scones next to the fruit scones or the sausage rolls next to the cheese rolls. They should be kept separate. You always have to wait a long time because instead of having or or two barista's each person makes their customers drinks, so they are often waiting to use the machine when serving. This means that the queue can be right out of the cafe at busy times. I would like to see hats worn as there is one older lady there who keeps touching her hair and will then pick up a food item with her bare hands, that is really offputting and I have thrown that item to the birds when I've left the hospital. None of the staff are particularly friendly, I prefer the 'Good Morning/Afternoon, can I help you?' approach than then 'Next' approach. I was also told off for pressing the 'OK' or green button on the card machine when it prompted me to do so. I know it can be very busy there but if the hard working Doctors, Nurses and other busy staff at the hosptal can be friendly and welcoming then I don't see why the cafe staff can't learn from them.

Fabulous choice of food for a hospital cafe. Prices are ok. Service is good. Love the scones. The freezer meals are tasty too. The rolls have plenty of fresh filings.

Its ok nice food but a bit pricey, due to it location they seem to charge high as theres no where else you can gey a cuppa

Yes this is good if you want a cup of coffee - Prices are average for coffee shops but quality is good - staff are friendly and helpful - they run a coffee loyalty card as well.

This cafe was formerly 'Bean Coffee House'. It is located on a pedestrian walkway.

Stopped by for some afternoon lunch with a friend. The cafe was fresh and clean. The staff were pleasant and the food was nice and tasty. Will be back again I’m sure.

Dieses sehr geräumige und zentral gelegene Café mit sonnigen Freisitz am Rande der Fußgängerzone ist aus einer erfolgreichen lokalen Bäckerei entstanden. Deswegen ist es eine interessante Mischung. Die Räumlichkeiten auf zwei Stockwerken fühlen sich an wie Café und der Kaffee ist richtig gut. Auf der anderen Seite muss man an der Theke bestellen und sich das Essen und die Getränke selbst mitnehmen. Auch gibt es Pasties, Pies und Sausage Rolls. Das Café ist sehr geschäftig und es ist immer was los. Dennoch gibt Plätze genug in dem großen Café. Die Preise sind voll in Ordnung, also ist das Café äußerst alltagstauglich.

A group of friends went on a 'just for fun' outing on the train to Hastings on 1st May 2018. Our first stop was at the 1066 cafe where we enjoyed some rather fattening but delicious homemade cakes. It was very enjoyable.

I went in this cafe at first with reluctance expecting it to be standard hospital food. How I was wrong! The variety was fantastic. I had a wrap which I thoroughly enjoyed and it tasted very fresh. The coffee I had was also fantastic.

The food is very good but the cost for eating in is horrendous. Example eating a yogurt £1.65 + .30p for one tea spoon. I can understand making a charge but not on every item, per order seems sensible. STILL Good Food though

Popped in a few times for lunch. They’re food is great, coffee is pretty decent and they offer a good selection of soft drinks. If anything a little pricy!

I love this café! Groovy modern-but-retro decor, clean, lovely staff and... great food.

Good Staff here who serve the customers well - recommend that you try the cheese scones which are very good - this place is busy most of the time so you may have to queue so be aware of this

This in-house hospital cafe has great friendly helpful staff and has a good variety of food and beverages for one to choose from - open early till late but well worth a try

We really liked this busy cafe in the centre of Hastings. The selection of foods was good and of good quality

Have past this cafe so many times over the last 15 years, but never had the chance to try.

Hubby and I popped into 1066 for a first time visit this morning. The cafe was quite full and there were a few of us waiting. No problem as there were plenty of friendly, polite ladies ready to serve. They were very cheerful in their work. We both had a ham and cheese pastry and a regular Latte. Pricing was what would be expected and our morning tea was very satisfying. The cafe itself is very tidy and there is a very nice outdoor seated area. We will definitely return in future.

Half a slice of ham in the roll, no butter and very dry. Good variety on the menu but very expensive for what you get.

Have visited many times due to the hospital being my second home! The food is always consistently good and an good choice of food. The service is quick despite how busy it is although do think some of the staff could be friendlier. The new refurb is good and offers more space to sit down.

This has been completely refurbished and has a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, frozen meals that can be taken away, pastries and cakes.

This has recently been totally rebuilt and opened and has a great choice of foods here which are both healthy and tasty and fairly good value for money Staff are helpful and friendly so worth a stop here if in the hospital

During the course of my job I visit a large number of NHS trusts. I often stop in their cafes for a coffee(you generally need one after a meeting with the NHS). Typically these cafes are run by the well known large corporations that offer their traditional fayre of a range of coffees and prepacked sandwiches and wraps. In general I find these unappetising.
