The best restaurants serving Thai food in Hastings South East

Don’t be put off by the unprepossessing exterior the food and service at the jasmine is fantastic! It’s also great value with good sized portions and fresh, tasty ingredients .. book ahead as it’s a small restaurant!

Have had a takeaway from here quite a few times now. Very good flavours and reasonable portion sizes. Price is about usual for Thai food. Only criticisms - Service has sometimes been friendly, sometimes has really not been, and it closes at 7.30pm, which is strangely for a takeaway, as most people would be wanting to order from this time and after at a weekend. Overall though, highly recommended for the quality of the food.

I visited the cafe and inquired if the chicken was halal. While it’s completely acceptable to say no, I was shocked by the response I received: ‘Sorry, we don’t eat our meat like other savage religions.’ Such a remark is offensive and highly disrespectful. A simple ‘no’ would have sufficed without resorting to derogatory comments about someone’s beliefs. It was especially disappointing as I have not experienced such hostility at any other restaurant. This kind of attitude is unwelcoming and Islamophobic.

There was a fly stuck on my slice of lime, which as you can imagine put me off slightly but then I remembered my time in Thailand and this made it feel more authentic! If you know, you know. Excellent flavours, will order again
