After finding out about this new Hong Kong cafe in the Stray Ferret news, we decided to pay a visit for lunch. The menu was limited but boy, the food was exceptional! We had the fried dumplings and the prawn tempura with curry & rice, accompanied with milk tea. We’ll definitely go back and recommend you seek out.

I've been visiting the Ale Hub for over a year now as a close friend lives nearby and we always tend to drop in after a few drinks in the city/Diglis. I've never been that keen on little Micropubs, as most I've been to tend to be lacking character and very basic spaces, however the Ale Hub has a certain charm and has been fitted out with taste, it's cosy and actually feels like a real pub. The customers are always friendly and there's a good hum of conversation. I'm not an ale drinker but they have a great choice of lager, draught craft and cider, as well as some guest bag in box ciders, the Rhubarb one is lovely. The staff are always really friendly and laidback, and seem to remember you, even though I'm there every once in a while. Bonus - pickled eggs, and some other homemade snacks like scotch eggs and pork pies. It would be lovely if they had some outside tables and chairs, but it has a busy car park outside so probably rules out. I would definitely recommend, they have very popular quiz, bingo and live music nights, one time I visited they even had a small record fayre which was cool.

Nice place to stop for a drink on the sea front. Alcohol slushies and Welsh beer. Had a little selection of bar games too..

Great selection of games, staff are fab and so helpful and accommodating (also very funny, we laughed all night). We paid corkage which was very cheap and brought a few drinks to enjoy with us. Great value for money, really unique happy spot in Hastings, can’t wait to go back !

Wasn't planning on visiting, but as my husband, dog and I were off for a morning stroll this weekend, he asked if I wanted a bacon sandwich. Expecting him to pop in and order a takeout as we had the dog, I was pleasantly surprised to find a sign on the door saying they were dog friendly! We order two coffees and two bacon sandwiches, which came to £10 which I thought was reasonable. Staff were really friendly and the venue was clean. The bacon was nice and thick, as was the bread. Now that I know they are dog friendly I can't wait to visit for pie and mash!

Excellent food and friendly service. There were 5 of us for dinner. It is a small plates menu so we ordered one of everything from the menu. The food was very good, especially the aubergine dish which was delicious! The gentleman serving us was lovely and the whole atmosphere was very friendly. It was somewhere that I had wanted to go for a while and will definitely be going back.

Very friendly and warm atmosphere. The owners accommodated us with two small babies during a rain storm. My older daughter is milk an d wheat intolerant and always finds it difficult to find somewhere to eat, the second daughter is vegetarian, so you can imagined the difficult logistics; plus two babies to feed. The owners went to great lengths to help her; it was delicious. They put together two tables to help us and it was so good, we came back especially 2 days later. This is a perfect example of a small family run business offering a better and more personal service than the big chain cafes and succeeding. Many thanks for your help, we shall be back late spring next year. Chris & Kate

A huge hidden gem in Chester that has the most welcoming atmosphere, a very safe place for everyone, amazing milkshakes & free board games to play. My son attends nearly every Saturdays, mainly to play Pokémon, but also to socialise with some amazing people! Geek retreat is for everyone, so if you’re in Chester pop in, grab a board game & chill for a bit with a yummy latte… they also have ‘free’ colouring for children too! The team are awesome also, what’s not to love :)

arrived here looking to order a pizza, 3 guys behind the counter just chatting amongst themselves, completely ignoring me for 10 mins and then finally took my order, said it would be a certain time, it took even longer and when it did arrive it was very average, do yourself a favour and go the Square and Compass for Pizza, they are much better and the staff are nice.
