Living in bedgrove, we come to jansel square Costa at least once a week. There's been the odd occasion where staff are very blunt but we've shrugged it off. However, today was different. We ordered hot chocolate with cream and we recieved a hot chocolate without cream. When I asked Callum for the cream, as ordered, he proceeded to sigh, grab the drink, slam it down in front of him. This spilt some of the drink over himself and the cup. He then poured half the drink away and filled the now sticky cup with cream. Following this, he passed the drink back in a huff to which I thanked him, despite the completely over the top reaction of me asking for what I had paid for. There's an attitude problem at this Costa that we have witnessed a number of times now and it needs addressing. It really let's down the positive attitudes of people like Dom and Yurii.

You go there and there are no signs for paying for parking. And a week later you get a £100 fine. Not worth £100 for the kind of food you get there

This ain’t the Ritz…I want proper bacon baps and the like, not coffee, coffee and yet more ruddy coffee. With possibly an expensive pastry item if I’m lucky.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Hotel part first. Our room (the cheapest that they offer) was a reasonable size with a good bathroom. Bed was also good. Room could of been a touch cleaner in places and is due a bit of a spruce up here and there. The room was too hot even with the heating turned off which we were not able to solve. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice, well cooked and presented. Now the restaurant and bar. (we ate here one night) Menu whilst on the short size still offered a decent choice and all dishes were well presented, of a decent size, fairly priced and had clearly been prepared by people that care about what they do. (The Korean Chicken was stand out dish!) Bar and the general pub area had a nice relaxed vibe to it. Stand out feature of the place to us though, were the staff (apart from one member who was a bit on the grumpy side - all the rest were very cheery and smiley) and in particular the manager who could not do enough for us and made our stay a most enjoyable one. For us then the hotel part is 4* and the restaurant and staff a 5* (even though we did come in last place in the Thursday night quiz that they host!) so for us its a 5* overall. If we are in the area again would we stay here again? Sure would.

Bland coffee, long queue and 1 barista struggling to cope with the orders. Millionaire shortbread was good though. I will stick to supporting local coffee shops in future and help them, rather than an american tax-dodging outfit.
