I broke down near this lovely cafe. it was closed when I arrived but the lovely Hilary still helped me by enlisting the help of her friend, booking me in with a mechanic and offering me free coffee and cake. what a lovely lady. thank you so very much Hilary

We were staying in the area for New Year, so after looking at the reviews booked for the 9 of us. The welcome from staff was warm, and we promptly got seated. The menu was limited, which was disappointing as there was no mention of this on the website. We had the selection of breads to share. This took 30 minutes to come out to the table. We then waited a further hour after we had finished our starter for the mains to come out. This is ridiculous, and it wasn't until my husband went and said something we had been left in the conservatory with no interaction from the staff at all during this time. There was no apology, but I just i will go and see. However, the food was exceptional although a little pricey, but everyone enjoyed the food. I would definitely go back if the services were improved.

Poor choice and poor food. My chicken & ham pie with roasted veg was so dry I couldn't eat it. My husband's portion of squid was so small, it was not worth having. Plus, the chef's hiphop music was playing so loudly in the kitchen that we could hardly here the tasteful background music in the restaurant. The waiter was lovely and really did try to look after us well. We were staying in the Hall overnight but there was no inclination to eat there again because we would have struggled to choose something - it really is just basic pub grub that is not very good and it really should be so much better for such a lovely setting/hotel. The wine selection for rosé was astonishingly bad ( a lovely summer's day and there was a zinfandel and a very rough pinot grigio blush - please at least put a Provence/Pays d'Oc rosé on the list or at least a better quality PG blush!). I really hope they make some improvements because a lot of the problems are really quite basic.
