Walking around Wallsend we decided to have lunch, just happened to glance up side street and saw member of staff writing on chalkboard. The menu seemed pretty good so decided to eat here. My mother chose the roast dinner and I the panini with salad which was very fresh. We had a hot chocolate each, total bill only £10.70. Very good value, staff extremely pleasant, would return when in Wallsend.

Everything started off fine, until my mam who is disabled (she is registered deaf and blind) needed to be assisted to the bar and toilet etc. she made her way to the bar with her partner who was assisting her, they then decided to discriminate her for her disability. Refused to serve her because apparently they had been watching her and in their own words I quote ‘well he’s had to take her to the toilet and outside and to the bar because she’s dumping into people and she’s wobbly on her feet’. Meanwhile my mam was upset and confused at the bar, oh but to top it all off, when then had to show this young lad her hearing aid so he would understand (I don’t think he’s very educated in the real world). So you’ve got my mam at the bar happy, she barely gets out. Then you’ve got a bunch of drop out 18 year olds smirking at her, wrongfully assuming she is ‘drunk’ because unfortunately she needed assistance to get from a to b. Meanwhile you’ve got groups of young lad and lasses going in and out of toilets taking drugs etc. but no no, my mam must be the one to get targeted because the full lot of them are cowards and bully the vulnerable. Maybe yous should put a sign on the door ‘unfortunately we can’t cater for disabled people because the staff are ignorant and rude’. Oh yeah and when trying to talk to any sort of manager about 4 young lasses feel the need to stand there with there mamas breast milk still around their faces smirking on. So weatherspoons, you managed to discriminate a extremely vulnerable woman who is registered deaf and blind. Round of applause. Well done. We not be back, I will spread the word. And I hope staff get correct training on different disabilities and what to look out for but probably not.
