I recently had the pleasure of hosting a brilliant send-off for my wife, Lesley, at The Anson Pub in Wallsend, and I couldn't be happier with the experience! From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to make the day special. Their attentiveness and warmth truly made a difference, ensuring that everything went smoothly. The atmosphere of the pub was delightful and perfectly complemented our celebration. The food was delicious, and there was plenty of variety to cater to all our guests. I was particularly impressed by how the staff managed to accommodate our requests, making everyone feel welcome and celebrated. It a nice quiet family pub the food is ok for the price you pay . They have things on like bingo football darts and pool

Lovely place for sociable drinks

The staff are amazing especially our Adam, he makes us feel so welcome and very helpful. But all staff are brilliant and would definitely recommend coming here, Tom the boss who is the glass collector goes above and beyond to entertain us 😁

Brilliant service and friendly staff

Been coming in for years, since my grandson was a baby. He has down syndrome and they are brilliant with him. Would recommend to anyone.

Easily the best pub in Wallsend. Id not been here before but my friends in Wallsend told me it's the best pub around there so I thought I'd give it a go. Went with a couple of friends for a meal and some drinks. It has a nice chilled atmosphere, pub looked clean and the team were friendly and welcoming. Ordered a mixed grill which was lovely. My friends had burgers which they also enjoyed and sensible prices too. Defo a must visit if you're ever in Wallsend

Little bit apprehensive being on the high street but such a good atmosphere tonight wasn't too busy staff were attentive no queues at the bar for long and drinks were very reasonable staff even showed me how to use the jukebox (as it's an app) so didn't need live music and only cost a couple of quid! Recommend for a nice night out!

Me and my friend went in when England game was on before the football came on we had a chatting and few drinks as soon the england came on they blast the speakers up loud we couldn't hear ourselves and have a chatt l am deaf 2ears l wear hearing aids my friend was really sick l ask member off staff a woman try turn speakers down all l get we can't they have 2 many tvs around the anson they should have a quiet lounge so people can go 4 a quiet drink and not having loud speakers blasting and a place in anson have nomal tv on and people like me and my friend go in 4 a catch up talking not having a football stadium in anson tvs blasting full volume l am 58 years old my friend is 62 years old all we like 2 do have quiet drink not having blasting football game on tv 2 loud they have 2 many tvs l like 2 know how much they pay 4 tv licence again 2 many tvs and should have some tvs on so people can watch nomal tv they need do lot improvements on this l rate anson 2/5 ! 2 stars 4 the staff bit slow at the bar getting your drink needs do lot better a lot better very disappointed in anson that night

A really nice pub. Very big selection of beverages. Ice cold pints and a decent pool table. They have a duke box and plenty of space. Food ain’t bad either.

Dirty and unwelcoming atmosphere

Tom the manager is what keeps us calling back he is so down to earth and the most helpful and friendliest person we have met in all the pubs we visit. Great place to visit people are friendly and food is always great. We always get the normal woodpecker and peroni.

I had the tandoori skillet it was delicious, and great service. Love coming here for sport and live bands.

Arrived at pub and no tables available, all reserved kids sitting on tables when adults on crutches had to stand , I get bingo on , but should be first here get seats

Great day yesterday at ansonfest, very reasonably priced and great service from the staff specifically a young barman called josh, who was very helpful and knowledgeable about the bar! great activities for the kids and great music! definitely recommend

We booked a table for 6 for dinner and upon arriving were seated next to a couple with their dogs??? I am completely fine with dogs beings allowed but to be sat next to them while eating? Should this really be allowed??? Drinks were ok. Their was a live singer on this night, although he was good I couldn't have a conversation as you couldn't hear anything over the music. This aside we still ordered our food and I very much wish we had not. The burger that was ordered was like rubber with cheese embedded and the bun extremely dry. The fish was undercooked, so much so ot was uneatable. My friend ordered the steak with peppercorn sauce. The sauce was not given and when asked was assured it would be brought over. After waiting we had to ask again after seeing the staff standing around talking to each other. We immediately decided we would not be returning again. None of the food was eatable and the overall atmosphere was not great.

My local pub, great service, good fud and the Guinness is fantastic same with Stella freezing cold and crisp, love this pub.

We went to the anson on Tuesday for a meal for a friends birthday (all oldies) there was 11 of us the staff we lovely and the food arrived hot and in good time I highly recommend the fish and chips,, Tom the manager looked after us well and was very friendly also the lad Adam who was on the bar was super too thanks lads will definitely be back

My wife had a sizzlier voucher left from her birthday, so we thought after wee bit of Christmas shopping we would visit the Anson pub. When we first went in the place was rammed, couldn't get a table,lad behind the bar said come back after 2 you should get a table easy. Sure enough we returned plenty of tables free,pint of Guinness and large gin and tonic as we looked at the menu,we both went for sizzlier steak and chicken combo with chips. Yes it's as it says it was sizzling and tasty we both enjoyed our meal and afternoon. The pub was decorated well with Christmas tree and everything looked very festive. Nice helpful staff, clean tables,we will return soon. Thanks the geordies

Visited the Anson with my elderly grandad (almost 90 ) he ordered the belly pork the staff at the bar were fabulous asking about allergens and very informative,, the food came down red hot I believe the chef was Jodie as we asked that they could tell her how lovely it was

Fantastic place to watch sport as the atmosphere is always electric. They have the best pool table and dart board on the high street. Food is top notch and the staff are amazing and so helpful. Great to see the assistant manager back behind the bar serving a great variety of drinks been a big miss!!!

Lovely evening! Food, very reasonably priced, it came hot and was delicious! I didn’t catch the staff member’s name from behind the bar, but she was a delight. Had me chucking as I ordered, and bless her: was her day off apparently and she’d been watching Elf before she was called in 😂 Canny place, would deffo recommend.

Service with a smile! The staff member, I didn’t catch her name, had be laughing while I ordered my food, chatting away about Elf (the movie!) Food was hot and tasty, and the vibe was nice and cosy.

1st time. Spot on food and staff.

I've ordered from her me before and never have had an issue. This time round, I did. So they decided to put the chicken breast on top of the chips so they came soggy so I was unable to eat them. I have then rang and explained and the lass who I spoke to said we can get some more chips sent out. 1 hour passed so I rang back and apparently they couldn't do that. I got a half arsed apology and wasted £8 for food that couldn't be eaten. The bag I got the food in was also covered in dirty shoe prints which doesn't look great!

As a diabetic. All food places like you don't care about diabetics. So you don't have soya milk, wholemeal bread, brown rice and lack of dessert options. which would help us a lot. Lack of healthy options.

Came in tonight first time in years. We ordered 2 mixed grills . Waited ages came asked for very well done steak it came out red bloody. Chips cold. Mushrooms so small and burnt. Disgusting. Was planning Xmas lunch but after that changed mind. Worst Iv tasted this was 28/July what a let down spoilt tea

Food used to be good now it's terrible if I wanted a meal served on paper I'd go to chippy skillet replaced by cold plate and servings greatly reduced I for one will not be returning

Came for Wallsend fair and it was amazing great atmosphere and fabulous staff all smiling and having fun- exactly what you want to see! Great drinks and had a cheeky free cocktail off the app thanks to the lad for letting me know not often you get something for free so was nice. And had a hotdog and that was amazing!

The service was diabolical ordered drinks and meal for three they got the drinks wrong and the timing for service was really bad waited over a hour for drinks that was order when the food was ordered been a diabetic I know the urgency of prompt delivery of food as I ordered at 4.55 and the food was delivered at 5.50. Food should not take as long as that even been fresh cook and the restaurant was nearly empty

This pub has changed, for the better, since the new young owner/manager has taken over. Nice lad, who has stopped the local riff raff from coming in, and has turned it into a laid back place with a chilled atmosphere. A huge change which was a very pleasant surprise.

Popped in for a few drinks and a quick bite to eat. I ordered the hot dog, it was massive! so tasty, a nice kick to it and it really hit the spot. Drinks were reasonably priced and will certainly be popping back in for a drink and bite again.

Fantastic pub. Amazing atmosphere and the staff are super friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them and the food is delicious. We spent a good few hours in here and had a fantastic time time. Great selection of drinks on offer and great prices 👍

Had burger ordered from here and was actually amazing. For the price of £12 including delivery this was definitely worth it. Most places want £17.00 minimum or have a poor McDonald's. 10/10 on the burger! 10/10 on the big fat fries

Visited the Anson during a trip to Wallsend compared to my visit with my family last year found that the quality and standard of food very poor. The service was slow and even though we entered at 4.30p.m it was 5.15 before our meal was served. Very disappointing.
