Came across this lovely, friendly tearoom/cafe which is located in the pretty village of Boxford and was so impressed, I visited twice in four days. My first visit was for tea and homemade cake and the second for breakfast when I had smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast which was the best I’ve ever had. I noticed that they have a lot of local trade and seemed to be a popular meeting place for locals which is always a good sign. The lady who runs/owns the business is very friendly and extremely efficient, I will certainly be going back next time I am in the area.

I visited recently on a Wednesday lunchtime to look at the pub where Wall of Death showman George 'Tornado' Smith lived. He had a famous location at the Kursaal, Southend, the largest Fairground in southern England when it opened in 1901. In the early '30's this was the first Wall of Death in the British Isles. 'Tornado' was also famous for his pet lioness which rode on the handlebars of his American Scout motorcycle until it became too large so a sidecar was added!! Locals in Boxford were not surprised to se him walking his pet in the village but I'm sur e it caused consternation along Southend seafront! There are quite a few photos in the delightful pub and what looks like an early advertising sign for the Wall of Death. The pub serves Mauldon cask beer from the excellent brewery in Sudbury. A large coffee machine provides excellent coffee to accompany the lovely cakes on display. Apparently arrangements are being made for cooked food in the evenings to augment the current panini menu. As we were only on a fleeting visit I cannot provide ratings for food etc.and at the time is was quite quiet.
