Just passing through the town and felt I'd like to stop for a meal. After a sick google, I thought I'd really enjoy an Indian meal. The Bengal came up early in my search so tried that. It was easy to find and it looked pretty traditional and typical inside. I ordered my usual of chicken tikka starter, chicken madras with pilau rice and a chilli nah (don't judge me, I know I'm basic, but o know what I like). I can honestly say, it was one of the best Indian meals I've had The madras was full of flavour, but not instantly hot. The spice heat was a slow build which was still confidant even at the end of the meal. The chicken was firm, but not hard or rubbery. The man bread was x gorgeous. Soft and fluffy, a hint of sweetness, so tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. Attentive without being bothersome. If I'm passing through again, I'm going to make a point of going back for another

In these difficult times we thought we would treat ourselves to a takeaway. We had been told that the Lal Bagh was very good but as we didn't know the town too well we asked a local where it was. They told us that Lal Bagh was a bit of a walk from where we had parked and that the Indian Village was just around the corner and they said it was also good, sadly the meal was very disappointing. The mains and the rice were far too salty to a point where you could barely taste the flavours, both the mains were very thin, very similar base and taste. On a plus side the chicken pieces, although small, were of good quality. Considering it was £34 for two mains, two rice and one nan bread, they hadn't even included a couple of complimentary poppadums' or salad, which we always receive in all the 'other' Indian restaurants we use. Sadly we won't be returning but will definitely try Lal Bagh next time.
