The Tudor Room

Thorpe, Runnymede, 60-100£
31/12/2018: This meal was the highlight of Christmas; we were welcomed in the entrance hall and shown to our table in a beautiful room which holds no more than 40. The 7 course menu was explained and we were given time to choose. Three different canapés arrived- all delicious - freshly made bread with differing butters and then a mini bowl of broth.
21/12/2018: Pre-Christmas get together with a fantastic meal for four. The surroundings are amazing and the service was great. All 8 courses were truly amazing; and the wine selection was impressive. Definitely recommend the soup and the roasted turkey; finishing off with a delightful Christmas pudding & eggnog ice-cream. Inbetween courses we were presented with some wonderful tasting appetisers. The quality and presentation of all dishes were excellent. The dining room only seats about 20 people at a time so wise to book months in advance. This is our third visit and it only gets better. Make sure you don't miss a walk in the gardens.

Bluebells Restaurant & Bar

Virginia Water, Runnymede
07/11/2018: Leaving this review about a year late but better late than never! I went with my family for my graduation dinner last year and it was up there with the best food I’ve eaten in the UK. Brilliant service too, we didn’t tell the staff I had graduated but they obviously overheard our conversation and congratulated me upon leaving and wrote a congratulations on my dessert plate. Leaving this review now as I am heading back up to my university for an alumni event and had hoped to come back to eat at bluebells but was so sad to see it had closed, when it eventually does reopen I advise you all to give the new place a try, you won’t regret it! Hopefully it will be open the next time I’m in this part of the country.
30/10/2018: All the dishes we had were fantastic! If not for the fact that we had to wait long for our orders, I definitely would’ve given this restaurant a five-star rating.

Villa Rosa

Egham Town, Runnymede
30/12/2018: Stopped here for a meal with friends as our favourite Loch Fyne branch has been closed (shame on you!), and the feeling was uninspiring.
28/11/2018: Wonderfully traditional Italian with fun staff and quality food. Might not have massive portions for the price but everyone had a very tasty meal

The Estate Grill at Great Fosters

Thorpe, Runnymede, 60-100£
31/10/2018: ...just right for an upmarket but informal lunch for a discerning group of five friends/spouses who had not met altogether for about 25 years! Warm welcome, attentive, friendly but not intrusive service (the newly arrived Belgian waiter was charming and courteous) and the sommelier knowledgeable and extremely helpful. We all chose two courses from the set menu and at lunch time found that quite sufficient. Our dishes were all, not surprisingly, well presented and most appetizing. The supreme of chicken was moist, tender and tasty and the cod cooked to perfection. Accompanying sauces in separate pots completed the dishes.
29/10/2018: Lunch here today for 50th birthday. Very helpful & friendly staff. Food was excellent. Grounds & gardens lovely to walk around after lunch

The Beehive

Englefield Green East, Runnymede
13/12/2018: We called in for lunch because we saw the food sign as we were driving past and couldn't have made a better choice. There was a great welcome and an interesting menu. The food I chose, the steak sandwich was terrific and the beer was as good as any I have tried for ages. This place is exactly what a pub should be. Perhaps a tad expensive, but worth every penny.
13/12/2018: This was our first visit to the Beehive. Landlord & landlady very welcoming. Excellent food and a nice atmosphere. We will certainly make this our local from now on.

Big Fry

Egham Town, Runnymede
19/11/2018: Had the best fish & chips I’ve had for a long time, batter crisp and piping hot. Staff pleasant, made conversation while I waited as it’s all cooked fresh. Would highly recommended. Enjoy 😊
14/11/2018: Just perfection. These are the best fish and chips I've ever had and I'm from Yorkshire, really nice place, friendly staff.

Englefield Green East, Runnymede
16/12/2018: A lovely evening out with friends. The food was lovely on everyone’s plate and we followed the recommendation to try the risotto - we were not disappointed.
08/12/2018: This is by far the best place in England. I was just there for the first time yesterday with my mum and we loved it! Our waiter was amazing, it’s like we already knew him! He was so nice and sweet!!!!! The spaghetti I had was amazing!! Mmh...I miss it! If you haven’t gone to this are MISSING OUT! I am going back tomorrow! Haha! ❤️ If I could rate it 1 million I would!

Kebab Land

Addlestone Bourneside, Runnymede
27/08/2018: Food is always tasty, freshly cooked and plenty of it (including salad which can often be small at other places). Very friendly staff and quick to cook even when super busy. Good prices too. If you haven’t tried here give it a go! Would recommend the Kebab Land Special for a family.
08/08/2018: We love visiting Kebab Land for our treat of chicken kebab, it's great as can phone in the order on route home and then get it delivered. Always friendly and always great quality.

The Happy Man

Englefield Green East, Runnymede
07/12/2018: Really friendly staff and good guest beers that are regularly changed. It’s an excellent local and I come here often!
15/10/2018: The food, beer and staff here are great. Good quality meat with overly generous portions make up the food here. What more could I ask for in a local? The staff are all lovely and always make my friends and I feel welcome. James, the landlord, is fantastic and runs a great pub. I will always come here, long may it last.

The Rose and Olive Branch

Virginia Water, Runnymede
05/12/2018: Had a very nice time & a lovely lunch on Tuesday this week 4th Dec, with a good friend. It was my suggestion to go there & we both enjoyed our food & friendly, efficient service, as I expected having been there many times before.. Although it was quite busy there were no delays or problem with how long customers took over their meal. There is plenty of parking space & as it's a bit off the beaten track unless living locally a car is essential due to no public transport nearby. The restaurant is very popular at lunch & evening times so a reservation is advisable..
12/11/2018: I was really looking forward to visiting this pub. My friend had told me that the place was famous for its traditional pies.

Leftbank Restaurant

Egham Town, Runnymede, 20-30£
13/12/2018: I had been given a £50 voucher for my birthday, so my wife and I thought we would use it ourselves, rather than have a big birthday gathering. Parking is free, which is good. The restaurant itself was quite crowded, but not too bad, although the tables are rather close together. The main attraction would appear to be the starters. A large array of salads are on offer with a few "protein" dishes, sliced meats and a fish dish. Main courses were of a carvery style and a "special" of squid, mussels and fish cooked in a white wine and cream sauce. We chose the later, as for us, a carvery isn't really a celebration meal. Afterwards my wife had the bread and butter pudding with a meringue and I stuck with the cheese board. All this was washed down with a bottle of Picoul de Pinet, which at £28.00 wasn't too spiteful compared to the other wines on the list. The main gripe we have, is that we were charged £0.50 for TAP WATER, an item we thought was now supposed to be supplied for free in all eateries throughout the UK.
24/11/2018: We decided to meet up and have dinner at the same time as talking through the matters we needed to discuss. Greeted by a very friendly waitress, who looked after us for the whole evening very well indeed. She got our drinks and explained about the buffet, although most of us had been there before.

Joe's Cafe

Chertsey St Ann's, Runnymede
12/12/2018: Welcomed as soon as entering this Cafe. Staff bright and cheerful as was the Owner. Small menu but everything on it was a good price. Full English breakfasts superb, other breakfasts including veggie on offer; ham, eggs and chips very good as the ham is carved and not out of a packet, also omelettes with choice of filling. Excellent pots of tea. Cash only as the Cafe do not have a card machine. No problem!
25/10/2018: Best breakfast we’ve had for ages! Lovely staff and quick service, any changes to our breakfasts were not a problem and a perfect cup of tea! already looking forward to the next one!

Casa Nova

Virginia Water, Runnymede, 30-45£
12/12/2018: Friendly and relatively informal but quality food cheerfully served but still with white napery and a restful atmosphere
17/11/2018: We went for lunch with our daughter - a twenty-something. We all loved the food, the wine and the service. Our daughter is a critical junior executive in a large corporation, she was happy, so it must be excellent. Must say, the service was perfect.

Black Prince

New Haw, Runnymede
12/12/2018: Staff are always really friendly and helpful in the Black Prince. Food is lovely and very reasonably prices, as are the drinks. You can't go wrong really
10/12/2018: We had a fantastic meal on 07/12, the food and service was great. Wonderful pub and will definitely return with the family.

The Bailiwick

Englefield Green West, Runnymede
29/12/2018: Friendly staff but appallingly prepared food. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen but my Malaysian curry was practically inedible- burnt sweet potato has a horrendous bitter taste! My sister's celeric puree was replaced with pureed carrot or something of a similar colour, without any explanation.
29/12/2018: I ate at the Bailiwick with some friends and family on Boxing Day and it was great! The pub was very busy and the staff definitely had a busy service, but they dealt with everyone brilliantly and came round to make sure we had enough drinks and to check if we were OK etc! We had a lovely time and the service was super friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere - and had a lovely festive merry time :)
