Trinity’s At The Lightship

Town, Gosport, >100£
18/10/2018: Impressed with the whole evening. We were there a week ago for a beer and bite with my son and daughter on his birthday. Food was very tasty, the ambiance was good as was the service and value for money. Views from the deck looking across towards Portsmouth harbor were very scenic and I imagine sitting on deck chilling a summers evening away would be an ideal way to enjoy some local cuisine.
14/10/2018: We had a lovely meal aboard this floating restaurant. There were 2 adults and a child (eating adult portions).

21/10/2018: A lovely cafe that also serves booze. Did not see any on tap ales but otherwise nice selection. Overlooks the lake. Read the reviews. Generally positive. Lovely place from which to watch the radio yachts racing on a Sunday and during events.

Hardy's at Haslar

Town, Gosport, 30-45£
15/10/2018: Visited for Christmas lunch 2017 and received fantastic food and excellent service for a very reasonable price. I would definitely eat there again.
13/10/2018: This restaurant is at the far end of the Lakeside Car Park and well worth a visit. We ordered lunch with a goats cheese baguette. This was a mighty and crusty snack with lots of trimmings at a very acceptable price which with a shared bowl of chips was filling and very tasty. If in the area would go again without hesitation.

The New Bengal

Christchurch, Gosport
29/10/2018: First time here - a friends favourite Indian and now I know why. Food was exceptionally good, nicely presented and not swimming in too much sauce to bulk it out- well worth a 35 mile trip and the prices very reasonable too. The first of several visits I hope.
10/10/2018: We went to The New Bengal with some friends. This was our first visit to this restaurant in a while. There was a warm greeting on our arrival as we were shown to our table. The interior décor of the restaurant is quite nice with some beautiful "Visit India" frames on the wall. The food at The New Bengal has always been of the highest quality. I have dined in many Indian restaurants, including some of the finest Michelin rated ones, but it is the small local family run Indians I always find that are the best value for many. They simply provide the best friendly, personal service with food that is so freshly cooked that it feels as though you are tasting parts of the Sub-Continent in your mouth. The food we had here, which was varied to meet different taste demands, was simply outstanding and cooked to perfection. I had a dish called Indian Summer and it was superb. The dish was hot and spicy, just the way like it, but with extra added taste and flavours with the accompanying rice tasting so heavenly. The rest of the party all absolutely adoring their meals, which were cooked to perfection. The drinks, especially the Bangla beer and the Bombay Bicycle IPA, were of the highest quality. The red wines weren't bad either. The restaurant was very busy but the service was great with polite, friendly waiting staff. We finished the evening with some nice coffees. Overall this was a great get together with some friends we have not seen in a while. The food, the atmosphere and the service was of the highest quality and we all left extremely satisfied with our dining experience here. The New Bengal is the oldest restaurant in the area and like a vintage wine it gets better as it ages.

15/10/2018: Went for a meal last Friday. Staff here were courtious and polite. We were seated straight away and had waitress service immediately. The food and drink were excellent with a good variety that caterered for all our needs. My wife is vegetarian, my elderly mother has dietry problems and i can eat anything for Britain.
10/10/2018: Good food and friendly service. Food took a little while to come but was very good. All the family had a good time including two children 8yrs and 10.

The Fighting Cocks

Anglesey, Gosport
01/11/2018: Was very pleasantly surprised by this place. I remember (back in the day) this place being an old Gosport dive of a place. But not now, it has been uplifted and extended to a really nice place for lunch. The menu is short, sweet and uncomplicated with an extensive Vegan menu. The ‘specials’ menu was really good on the day we went and all three of is ordered from that. The food was very good indeed and most enjoyable.
26/10/2018: Food was outstanding best pub I have been too liked the band and the atmosphere not loud and lots of kids everywhere nice and friendly definitely go again

The Castle Tavern

Town, Gosport
03/11/2018: I have been to this pub a couple of times for a partners Xmas do and always been impressed with the service and home cooked food. Today myself and my partner popped in for lunch after a long walk. Both ordered bacon sarnies. Well, we could not believe they make a profit from what we got. Massive doorstop lovely soft granary bread and 4 slices of superb bacon! Including chips and a generous salad garnish. £4.20!!! Ridiculously good value. Every time we in gosport now this is where we will get lunch. We just wish the prosecco was a reasonable price, 25 quid prices us out.
21/10/2018: A nice pub in the traditional seafaring style located near the Gosport Bus Station and Ferry Terminal. Nice to walk around the area and near the High Street. Staff pleasant. Some nice fairly local beers. Pub already taking orders for Christmas. Local characters drink there.

Pebbles Fish & Wine Bar

Alverstoke, Gosport
01/11/2018: Ate here on a weekday lunchtime for a work colleague's birthday. The setting is lovely with panoramic views of the Solent. Large (for me) portions of average food, which I think was over priced, with average service.
06/10/2018: After reading good reviews decided to to have lunch today with husband and brother. How did this place get such good reviews? It was incredibly noisy. This could be due to the fact it has bare tables, walls and floor. Nothing to absorb noise. Two major dishes were 'off' the menu. Chips with everything. I come out smelling of frying. Staff only adequate. Asked for water when wine came but had to ask again as they forgot. Only about half dozen people, including us in restaurant so no excuse for poor service.

The Boat House Cafe Gosport Marina

Town, Gosport, 20-30£
04/11/2018: Five ladies dined here on Friday 2 November. To be fair the food was good until we visited the toilets! They were disgusting. Obviously the chef and staff use these toilets too so the hygiene has to be questioned. This was not a day of not cleaning, the outside bowl of the toilet, the plastic bin was ingrained with dirt. The disabled toilet was the worst. It was a good job we had finished our meals by the time we used the facilities. Because of this I will never visit this cafe again!
31/10/2018: My son took me here for breakfast as it's a place he has frequented in the recent past.

Bayside Cabin

Alverstoke, Gosport
29/10/2018: We had a weekend away down south and stumbled across the the cabin whilst looking for a good view of the Isle of White. It’s located at one end of a long beach with spectacular views of the Solent. Even though it was a cold and blustery autumn day, it was really busy and we were lucky to get a table. It has both an internal restaurant and an extension with windows all round, meaning we didn’t miss out on any views as we ate. Pets are welcome in the extension part, which is a great bonus as the area attracts a lot of dog walkers.
28/10/2018: Worst breakfast ever. Pork and smoked bacon sausages??? just awful. Tinned tomatoes and baked beans served stone cold. Asked for tea and brought to the table in mugs with milk already in! My husband only has a splash of milk and I cannot drink tea with milk. I had to send mine back. It would have been nice if the titanic breakfast came in a half size. Not to worry won't be making the mistake of going back there!!!!!
