The Fox Goes Free

Boxgrove, Chichester, <20£
20/06/2018: We did a mistake in our booking, we mixed the dates, all our mistake. But the disguisting girl in the bar ( at 06 pm no the 19th of June) was terrible. She looked at us like we were totally idiotsWe were polite all the time, we understood our mistake, payment had been done, and that was all OK.
20/06/2018: Went with a friend to the horse racing few weeks ago and on the way we stopped at this lovely looking pub, beautiful from outside and the garden on the back is gorgeous with lovely views of the fields. Service was fine and we had the Sunday roast. It was ok but not the best I ever had. It was too much fat (even for me that usually don’t mind a bit of it), but the vegetables were really nice. I would probably try something different next time. I did enjoy the overall experience.

The Dean Ale & Cider House

Boxgrove, Chichester, 20-30£
16/06/2018: My wife and I had an excellent dinner. We had two starters each - three different dishes, all of a high standard. Service not perfect, but the restaurant definitely recommended.
26/05/2018: Came on a recommendation and not disappointed. Nice to see a menu with a bit of imagination. Staff attentive but not over friendly . All courses just the right size and prepared. Will definitely revisit .

The Star & Garter

Boxgrove, Chichester
02/06/2018: We did a round trip walk around the area, beautiful countryside, started off and finished at the Star and Garter (having booked a table before). Managed to park right outside as well. Food was good (I had the mussels. my wife had the crab). Only...
31/05/2018: Excellent menu with plenty of great choices, particularly if you like seafood. We had whitebait and red snapper scampi to start, really good, and then both chose the Thai fish curry, which was really, really good! Lovely meal, good wine and nice chilled atmosphere.

The White Horse Restaurant

Boxgrove, Chichester, <20£
17/06/2018: Visited this pub for a birthday celebration on a Saturday night, and for coffee the following day. The food was nice but not great and the organisation for the party was poor. On both occasions the service was slow, even when ordering just 2 coffees.
13/06/2018: Came across The White Horse by chance when returning from a meeting in Arundel but having found it, can't wait to return! I can't comment on the bedrooms as we only stopped for lunch but on that experience would certainly recommend it. The welcome was warm and the bar staff both friendly and knowledgable. The interior is lovely with oak beams and a cosy atmosphere, (lots of little rooms and alcoves) but on a warm day in early summer we chose to sit outside in the charming courtyard area. My husband chose a ploughman's sandwich (very substantial0 but from the specials board I went for the fresh local asparagus wrapped in ham with a softly poached egg. This was simply the best dish I have tasted recently - perfectly executed and totally delicious. At around the £9 mark it was also great value. There is a good range of beers, both real ales (including a local option) and lagers. Highly recommended!

Cuillin View Gallery & Coffee Shop

Boxgrove, Chichester
16/09/2017: Happened upon this gem while exploring the coastal towns on no agenda. Owners very friendly and allowed me to break the no-takeaway rule as I brought my own travel mug. Nice to see a stance on reduced trash! Proper espresso based coffee. Stop here and...
10/09/2017: This is a lovely place in a stunning location. The views across the bay are spectacular. The tearoom itself has a lovely tranquil, calming atmosphere. They offer a simple menu of hot drinks and scones but don’t let this put you off as their home...

The Fish House

Boxgrove, Chichester
27/08/2015: It's not the Fish House now. it's back to being the White Horse and it's brilliant even though it does cost a bit!
22/07/2015: Bad service unhelpful staff. Long waiting times for food. The rooms are grubby and have really thin walls.

03/03/2018: A great place to learn new art, wonderful food, very good teachers, relaxing atmosphere set in beautiful grounds.
23/09/2016: Me visita West Dean en una base regular con la familia y amigos. Siempre es una alegría estar allí especialmente ver los cambios de las estaciones.
