The Fox Goes Free

Boxgrove, Chichester, <20£
17/08/2018: Having eaten here a number of times before, we decided to come here to eat for my fathers 60th birthday. The service was incredibly slow, the pub clearly were almost bursting with the number of dinner guests and we even had to ask to move tables , due to a table next door to us of hooray Henry’s being incredibly loud. We had to chase our main courses a number of times even after the waitress eventually came over and asked, are we still waiting for our mains, she had also forgotten the wine we had ordered. Eventually the mains came, and all was a little bit dry and over done, something not experienced before at this pub.
17/08/2018: There is a car park, as well as ample roadside parking. There is a large outdoor garden area, for summer weather and for the nicotine addicted.

The Dean Ale & Cider House

Boxgrove, Chichester, 20-30£
06/08/2018: We’re leaving too, there are some good pubs in this area, don’t bother with this one. All the lunchtime glasses are still out, no effort made at all.
28/07/2018: On the way home to Portsmouth we popped in for a meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the place has a very relaxing feel to it .We ordered a meal and were served in the lovely conservatory. The service was prompt, the food was so delicious, we met the chef who has only been there a few weeks...but long may he stay.!!! A very pleasant experience I highly recommend a visit. Thank you The Dean Inn.

The Star & Garter

Boxgrove, Chichester
25/06/2018: We'd got lost and were very peased to come across this pub - for a much needed drink and to get our bearings again! :-))
02/06/2018: We did a round trip walk around the area, beautiful countryside, started off and finished at the Star and Garter (having booked a table before). Managed to park right outside as well.

The White Horse Restaurant

Boxgrove, Chichester, <20£
12/08/2018: What should have been a memorable evening out with my family turned out to be nothing short of a total shambles due to the appalling meal . My brother who lives in Miami had taken a lot of trouble in planning this family get together and was in the UK with his wife on a whistle stop visit. Having sat outside for pre meal drinks admiring the stunning surroundings we were then rushed inside a few minutes later informing us that we should be seated at our reserved table and they were ready to take our meal orders. The starters were just about ok but from there on having waited for 90 mins for the main course , the 'happy family atmosphere' turned blue when finally the main course had appeared only to be faced with utter dismay. We were served with meagre portions of tough steak and appalling presentation . When my brother complained the response was far from apologetic Surface to say I would never return to dine here again. A ruined evening best forgotten.......
12/08/2018: Amazing food for lunch very very good fish dish , decor a little dark and dated I felt but persoal choice. Staff friendly a lovely spot for lunch early in the week was quiet but think weekends busy plenty of parking will go again

Cuillin View Gallery & Coffee Shop

Boxgrove, Chichester
16/09/2017: Happened upon this gem while exploring the coastal towns on no agenda. Owners very friendly and allowed me to break the no-takeaway rule as I brought my own travel mug. Nice to see a stance on reduced trash! Proper espresso based coffee. Stop here and visit a while.
10/09/2017: This is a lovely place in a stunning location. The views across the bay are spectacular. The tearoom itself has a lovely tranquil, calming atmosphere. They offer a simple menu of hot drinks and scones but don’t let this put you off as their home baking is clearly practised to perfection. We had hot chocolate and coffee with scones. Mine was a plain scone and it was the nicest one I’d ever had. The owner was friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this place.

The Fish House

Boxgrove, Chichester
27/08/2015: It's not the Fish House now. it's back to being the White Horse and it's brilliant even though it does cost a bit!
22/07/2015: Bad service unhelpful staff. Long waiting times for food. The rooms are grubby and have really thin walls.
