A lovely Sussex pub. Stopped for a drink after work on a Friday. Plenty of parking, welcoming bar with a wide selection of drinks, including soft and zero’s. Bar area is compact but restaurant is spacious.

Such a brilliant experience! We had a booking for 30 people on Saturday and everyone said how wonderful both the food and the service were. We started our day with bacon baps in front of the fire which was just gorgeous and then we set off for a walk up to Halnaker Mill. We were all looking forward to a hearty lunch on our return and weren’t disappointed. RJ , Katie and the entire team were excellent. The food was utterly delicious! Nothing was too much trouble for RJ, his positive can do attitude is to be commended. The Anglesey Arms served up a good old fashioned hospitality at its best. Thank you

Stopped in for a roast on the off chance this afternoon, to make the most of a sunny Sunday. Restaurant, bar area and garden were rammed - a sign of doing something right. We were able to find a table outside after a short wait and ordered our food at the bar. Bar staff were pleasant when ordering and overall the roasts were good. Generous portions, nicely cooked meat, tasty cauliflower cheese - but a table of 4 of us had all 3 meat offerings between us, and not one of them came with any of the advertised sauces (bread sauce for chicken, horseradish for beef, apple sauce for pork.) After having food dropped off at our table, the runners / servers were nowhere to be found, and we had to find our own cutlery/ napkins / condiments as no-one came back to check on us. Good food, but definitely recommend booking and eating in the restaurant, hopefully the service experience is slightly better in there, than being left to fend for yourself elsewhere on the premises.

Disappointed. After reading glorious reviews I have been expecting a nice meal at least. But failed to live up to expectations. My supposed to poached egg was hard boiled, although the waitress offered to exchange it. But it was too late as we had already started our meals. Toast was burnt and melted cheese was rubbery. Expensive for a poor meal.

First time going to this restaurant after it was highly recommended by a friend. We chose a this restaurant as it was the most appealing out of the 5 recommendations we were given. Today was my husband’s 38th Birthday, so we decided to drive 45mins from Gosport to celebrate. Firstly, I ordered a Raspberry & Apricot Fizz cocktail but, was given the wrong mixer. Luckily my husband noticed this as I’m not allowed grapefruit. This was quickly rectified. When we ordered our roast, we ordered a bottle of red wine but, weren’t given any wine glasses. We were then approached by the waitress about 30mins into waiting for our food and told that there has been an issue with the orders and our food shouldn’t be much longer, we were offered a free drink or dessert but, we were a little bit disappointed at the end of the meal to find we had been charged £11 something service charge. when we felt we didn’t receive the best service on this occasion. The food was beautiful but, a little disappointed by the experience. We weren’t the only table to experience this today, we witnessed food being returned to the kitchen, food served to the wrong table and long food waiting times.

Someone came out to tell us last orders were called, so my friend got another drink in, I was happy to finish what I had. No one asked us to come in or told us the pub was now closing, but we got the hint when they turned off the lights. Fortunately we had torches on our phones to find our way out. A bit rude, we thought. Still, it could have been an oversight...

I've had some good meals in this pub in the past. We had lunch here recently and whilst my food was fine, my wife's fish finger sandwich was nothing more than a couple of fish fingers and some lettuce between two pieces of sliced white bread on an otherwise empty plate. For a £10 sandwich served in a restaurant we had expected something a little more inspiring than what you would slap together for a kids packed lunch, maybe a few salad leaves on the side, fresh granary bread, perhaps even a couple of crisps wouldn't go amiss. The waitress was very pleasant and understood my complaint, but the young girl who brought our drinks over could have put a smile on her face, my wife said thank you and got no response or eye contact, she was just looking at the floor, plonked the drinks at the end of the table and walked off. I've just checked my receipt and despite complaining about the food, a 10% service charge had been added to the bill too which I wasn't even aware of as I just paid on our way out and took the receipt with me, I didn't have a chance to review the bill first.

Met some friends for dinner. The pub was really busy so it was a lovely atmosphere. The food was ok. I found the portion of fries a bit stingy as they were served in a basket, which seems to be the trend and the basket was small. The chicken was a little bland as there wasn't enough garlic in the butter but it was nice and crispy. I would return and give it another go but I did find it expensive for what I had.

We visited the Anglesey arms on a Sunday afternoon. This was our first visit. We like to try out different pubs for Sunday lunch. The menu looked really nice and was initially thinking that we had found a nice country pub. The kids food came out first and it looked really good, nice portion size and good quality. When the adult roasts arrived they looked good. But once you moved the meat to one side, it revealed only a small number of new potato sized roast potatoes. The green veg was also very disappointing in size. We had 4 slices of carrots to share between us and a few spoonfuls of cabbage. We had to ask for another portion of veg, which we were charged £4.00 for. The chicken and beef we had was ok, but nothing special. So as a summary, I was pretty impressed with the kids menu and deserts for quality and portion size and also value for money. But When it comes to the adult roasts, when you are paying £20+ for a roast you expect it to be a reasonable size. There just wasn't enough and to be charged additional for a small bowl of extra green veg is a bit naughty really. We wont be returning anytime soon.

Had lunch today with my Son, and it was a tale of two courses. The starters were amazing, my son chicken goujons where the best he has ever had any ham hock was great. That’s where the great food ended. After a particularly long wait, even though the place was empty. The mains arrived. My son’s burger he said was nothing to write home about, my Fish n chips was poor and that’s a generous comment. The fish was thin and meagre, it’s looked substantial but after the batter collapsed it’s was just poor quality fish! The mushy pease were dry and the chips where dry lukewarm at best. I tried it, then left the lot! A waste of £17! So after the long wait for both courses I could not be bothered with complaining as nothing is ever done! So I paid, we left and will vote with our feet!

A good pub, we visited for a pre- arranged gathering. The food was fair, though portions were small for the number in the party. The pork and chicken were nice, the salad too plain, but the olives were nice. The rolls were basic, but overall.it was nice. The coffee was good value and the staff worked hard to.look after us all. It was busy, with regular customers, and a party of 30 made them work hard for today's takings. My brother was in a wheelchair and that was hard work, the layout did not suit the chair at all, the toilets were even harder, which is a shame. Overall a nice venue, not suited particularly for limited mobility, the food was fair, otherwise the venue was good.

A disappointment, food for dinner was pretty good but too expensive with tiny portions. Drinks were terrible and poorly mixed, not even the coffee was drinkable. I really wanted to like this place being local but it just isn’t good enough for the prices charged and others locally do it far better. The dining room is not a proper restaurant and noisy, being located too close to the bar. Starters are around £10, mains £20-£30 and puddings £10. Service was good.

We were a party of eight and we were all disappointed with our meals. I had pork belly bites as a starter which had little flavour and a dry tough texture - presumably frozen and from a packet. My main course, Vietnamese curry, was the worst curry I have ever eaten - and curry is my favourite food. I ate the meal, against my better judgement, as I didn’t want to upset the mood. I complained to the waitress but heard no more about it. I paid for it with two days of a badly upset digestive system. I would drink in the pub but strongly avoid consuming any food.

Beautiful interior in a great location. The senior staff were a little stressed and abrasive on the Sunday afternoon we visited, but they found us a table and the waiting staff we lovely. The food was very tasty. We tried most of the bar snacks/small plates as sharing starter, the kids fish and chips was excellent and my older son had a burger from the main menu that was also very good. My wife and I both had roast pork which was very tasty though like the belly pork starter the fat couldnhave been better rendered and skin crisped up. Generally a great experience with a wonderful ambiance both in the bar and separate dining area. We will return, and book - I think we were lucky to get a table walking in between lunch and dinner sittings on a Sunday afternoon.

Love this restaurant. Very pleasantly surprised at the attentive service, superb food & good wine. Lovely atmosphere, lots of locals, decor of a traditional Indian restaurant. Large menu. All the staff were welcoming & the food was fab. It’s a great asset to Midhurst.

Visited here for afternoon tea. Welcome was ok, but then we waited for a while to see if there was a free table. Bizarrely no one else was in the cafe and the upstairs service where we were seated was almost unfriendly and you felt you were in the way. When we asked for a spoon for our tea we were greeted with a huff and puff… Gets good reviews elsewhere, but sadly not from us..

Decor/decorum was nice. Staff were nice enough.. Came in early evening with a couple of tables already inside. Food was okay but no wow factor to it. Didn’t think prices of items reflected what we got. They forgot an item that we ordered but gave us another item that we didn’t instead, so perhaps a mix up there. No check back to see how our meal was/for us to get another drink. Chorizo, calamari, mushrooms, a side salad with a med wine and bottle of beer with service charge came just shy of £60.. which I’m in two minds about, If it was worth it based on the overall visit. Overall experience was okay but wouldn’t go back in a hurry based on experience but perhaps a one off.
