The Fur and Feathers

Upton Grey and The Candovers, Basingstoke and Deane, 30-45£
29/10/2018: This was our first visit and we were very happy with our experiance. We received a nice welcome by staff on arrival and with the fire going it was a lovely warm environment. It was pork or beef for Sunday roast which most of us had and enjoyed. The roasties and Yorkshire puds in particular. The selection of can was good too, particularly the red cabbage. My daughter had a burger which she really enjoyed. Warm chocolate brownies with ice cream finished off our meal. We will definitely return and would recommend but make sure you book.
28/10/2018: We was recommended this pub via a friend from work so we decided to venture out and give it a try... we wasn’t disappointed

Hoddington Arms

Upton Grey and The Candovers, Basingstoke and Deane, >100£
29/10/2018: We had a family lunch here and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. Although it was a Monday, it was still quite busy which was a good sign. Upton Grey is a little off the beaten track, but was convenient for one couple who lived quite nearby. However if you are in the area this is worth a look.
25/10/2018: This was our second visit and we were not disappointed. The food is exceptional and the service was friendly and welcoming. I am so glad that we stumbled upon this fantastic oasis and look forward to visiting again.

Purefoy Arms

Upton Grey and The Candovers, Basingstoke and Deane, 20-30£
11/11/2018: My partner and I were recommended this place after dining a couple of months ago at 'Pulpo Negro' (another amazing restaurant) and when we were paying the bill, our waiter (who was obviously another foodie) said we should visit the Purefoy arms. I waited until my in-laws visited and booked a table for 4 for a Saturday night.
10/11/2018: This is our 4th visit to The Purefoy Arms. We have experienced both an evening meal and lunches. The service is as good regardless of the time you visit. The menu offers a good variety of choice and the food is absolutely delightful. Our favourite eating venue that offers good service and an excellent atmosphere. Apologies for the pic of my main I was in too much of a hurry to start eating so ruined the presentation slightly. Came with baby sauté potatoes in a side dish. Amazing!

The Wellington Arms

Baughurst and Tadley North, Basingstoke and Deane, 30-45£
10/11/2018: This was a long overdue revisit to the Wellie, the perfect place to celebrate a cosy Autumn birthday. The menu is full of favourites, like the fresh Zucchini Flowers stuffed with a lemony ricotta, or the pan-fried Gnocchi with Roasted Squash. The fresh fish from Brixham is always good, so we both ended up with the beautiful Halibut. Puddings are substantial and indulgent, so we shared one, a trio chocolate mousses and ice cream.
09/11/2018: We eventually found this lovely pub/restaurant - the effort was well worth it.

Watership Down Inn

Overton, Laverstoke and Steventon, Basingstoke and Deane, 20-30£
28/10/2018: We stayed at the Watership Down Inn overnight as part of a birthday gift. We loved it! The room was superb and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We dined in the restaurant - fish and chips - the fish was absolutely delicious and next morning we had the cooked breakfast. This was plentiful, tasty and freshly prepared. We would recommend the Inn to anyone and it is perfectly placed for a visit to the Bombay Sapphire Distillery. A great stay and well worth the money, give it a try!
27/10/2018: Stayed overnight to visit the Bombay Sapphire Distillery. Lovely double room, great food and service and the best breakfast ever!

Eastrop, Basingstoke and Deane
09/11/2018: Today after school I needed to pop into town and thought as I had to drag my 2 sons along I thought I'd treat them to a wimpy.
04/11/2018: I was pleasantly surprised by the quality & value of the food & service. Dining out can be quite stressful for a family of 5 with 6mo but we were seated & served quickly with the server reassuringly accommodating us incl. with my vegan wife with adapted Spicy Quorn Burger. All the family enjoyed their meal & the experience incl. the boys playing a board game provided by the restaurant. My Quarterpounder Club was delicious and my eldest rated his International Grill all day breakfast too. I would highly recommend this restaurant to all and we now expect to become regulars so we’ll be returning soon, perhaps with milkshakes & desserts next time! This team were a credit to the company, especially the manager & the server. Why not give it a try?!

Festival Street Kitchen

Eastrop, Basingstoke and Deane
11/11/2018: Visited festival street kitchen for the first time and I'm a bit of a fussy eater. Very friendly they let me try what was on offer before I decided what I wanted, and I must say the food there is amazing and fantastic value for money, I will be making a beeline for this place next time I'm in town and hungry. A+
07/11/2018: Went to basing stoke shopping feeling that I needed some fuel to keep me going and was not looking forward to the normal food on offer so we stumbled across this outside kitchen cooking a Cajun chickin dish wow great sat outside watched the world go by I am glad we stopped,

The Fox

Oakley and North Waltham, Basingstoke and Deane
11/11/2018: I've eaten at a few pubs, but the one is by far my favourite. In the heart of Hampshire countryside, gorgeous views all around with a homely welcome to this gastro pub. The food is amazing! The service is lovely, warm and friendly. What a gem. We will definitely be back. One of my highlights was the pavlova. It put me into a holy hush as I consumed it.
07/11/2018: We have been visiting this pub for may years, on an infrequent basis as we live in London, but it never has disappointed us. Super food in good quantitiess, well cooked and innovative and the pub is hosted by a cgarming couple. The dining area is fairly small and gets busy especially on a Sunday so book well ahead!

The Old House At Home

Basing, Basingstoke and Deane
29/10/2018: We were staying at a nearby hotel and popped in for a lunchtime drink, greeted by the bar man who was attentive. Sat down with our drinks and looked at the menu, we were advised to book, if we wanted to come back in the evening, which is a good sign for a Tuesday.
23/10/2018: We were warmly received and shown to our table. Fire lit, specials on the board. We had booked and the place was full at 7:30. So booking advisable for weekend. Black pudding starter was very good as was the pate. My veggie risotto was full of flavour. Mains of lamb shank, home made fish cakes went down well. Staff were friendly, party of five and we asked for 20 minutes between starters and mains. Too full for desert, good portions and decent prices for quality food. Well worth a visit. Hi I

The Gamekeepers

Basing, Basingstoke and Deane, 45-60£
04/11/2018: I had the locally shot pigeon which just melted in your mouth and cooked to perfection and loved the barley peral, shallot and beetroot jus it was just fantastic with so much flavour and the combinations worked superbly together. The pigeon does come pink but this is in my opinion the only way to serve.
30/10/2018: A local favorite, the food is consistently good. Good selection of dishes and some great specials. If you want a really good meal 'reasonably' priced, I'd highly recommend you give it a try.

Glasshouse Restaurant

Oakley and North Waltham, Basingstoke and Deane, 30-45£
02/11/2018: Old world type mansion/ estate, very pretty surroundings as well as building and decoration. Service very good, friendly and professional. High tea was delicious, excellent quality and nice variety of items. Very good vegetarian options. Would highly recommend for a fine dining experience or high tea on a special occasion. Good prices given the quality and atmosphere.
03/10/2018: The food was completely tasteless and terrible, I had the tomato as a starter which was just 2 tomatoes cut in halves, that’s it! then the gnocchi as a main course and that could be compared to shewing gum! , don’t go!

The Lime Leaf

Eastrop, Basingstoke and Deane
28/10/2018: Enjoyed some nice food here on Saturday evening. Never been before, having failed to find anywhere half decent to eat in Basingstoke and didn't want to visit one of the usual "chains" in Festival Place.
28/10/2018: I can't believe I've waited so long to experience The Lime Leaf! Honestly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. We had the beef Mussamun Curry and it was amazing! We also really loved the spare ribs to start. This is a great independently owned and run Basingstoke restaurant. Make the trip!!

Cafe Dome

Brighton Hill North, Basingstoke and Deane
07/11/2018: Visited recently and had a big breakfast and a tea. Staff are very welcoming, friendly, and professional.
05/11/2018: First class attention. Wonderful service with a smile. Food excellent. Clean, comfortable, and welcoming. A credit to all associated with this community cafe.

The Iron Duke

Pamber and Silchester, Basingstoke and Deane, 30-45£
05/11/2018: Fantastic to see that a year after my initial visit, The Iron Duke still has high standards. The staff were just as welcoming as before, and the food was fantastic! (Your chips were incredible.) The service was great, with very little waiting, and a friendly team always willing to assist.
31/10/2018: We held a family lunch at the Iron Duke on Sunday to celebrate my daughter's birthday and her recent engagement. The staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful, the food was excellent, both in quality of the ingredients and in the cooking and the menu choices were spot on too. With family coming from all over (locally plus Devon and Kent), it is a good place for us all to meet up and we will be back! Thank you to everyone who made a special day just that bit more special.

The Queen Inn

Oakley and North Waltham, Basingstoke and Deane
04/11/2018: Found this lovely pub on a bike ride and decided to have lunch in the pub garden. Ordered two adult meals and one child’s, the food was absolutely excpetional! Probably one of the best pub lunches I’ve ever had. The wait for the food was quite long but I’m guessing that is because the food is so nice that it’s a popular pub. The staff are very friendly and happily filled up our water bottles for us! The pub setting and garden is gorgeous too! Will defiantly visit again soon.
25/10/2018: Met up with family for lunch and had a nice comfortable table in the window for seven of us. We all enjoyed our meals and especially the home cooked steak pie and chips which was really good and worth the 30 minute wait as mentioned on the menu. Special offer of free childrens meals for half term was a nice bonus. Quite busy for mid week so obviously has a good reputation locally. Will definitely visit again if we are in the area.
