25/02/2020: We took our parents and children to Breda Murphy on a wet and windy Sunday to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary. The food, wine and service were exceptional. Thank you to Breda and her team for making our celebration very special.

Brizola Bar and Grill

Littlemoor, Ribble Valley
21/03/2020: Returned to Brizola to see Rachel and the team to celebrate my birthday with friends. Yet again Brizola didn’t disappoint ! We all loved everything, from the delicious starters which we shared as “Greek Tapas” to the mains which we devoured and washed down with great beers and wines. I know the uncertain times ahead are going to be very challenging for Brizola but I understand they may be doing take away food and we’ll be supporting this and would encourage anyone else reading this to try to do the same if your able to. I wish Rachel and the team all the best at this time.
20/03/2020: Due to current "circumstances", they're operatng as a take away only. The food is just as great and I can't praise it enough. If you've ever enjoyed the food, get yourself down there to support the team.

The Spread Eagle Mellor

Mellor, Ribble Valley
09/05/2020: Just had a takeaway from The Spread Eagle. Restaurant quality as you would expect in the comfort of your home. Fish and chips, Steak and kidney pudding mains with all the starters and sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake for dessert. Definitely the most expensive takeaway we've ever had but by far the best and worth every penny. Stuart, Leslie and Josh thanks
14/04/2020: Be visited this restaurant on our wedding anniversary. Visited midweek - didn’t have to book a table prior to arriving. Large car park for vehicles. Food - served fresh off the menu. Butchers cuts of meat served. Will visit again.

The Higher Buck

Waddington and West Bradford, Ribble Valley
07/03/2020: Stopped for lunch on Saturday. Glad we had booked a table as it got full very quickly. Decent car park at the rear. Warm welcome. Lovely decor inside and log burner well lit. Great gluten free menu for my hubby. I had the duck wrap and husband the duck salad - shared a portion of triple cooked chips. Everything lovely and service spot on.
03/03/2020: Family Saturday lunch for 8 for our daughters birthday. Everyone chose different main courses, all of which were excellent. Very busy but the service was still very efficient and friendly. Definitely gastro pub prices but worth the extra for the quality of the well presented food. Highly recommend for any special occasion.

Waddington Arms

Waddington and West Bradford, Ribble Valley
08/03/2020: Received a voucher for the James group for our silver wedding last year. Saved it to go to Holmes Mill in Clitheroe, far to busy so phoned the Waddington Arms and reserved a table at the last minute and so glad we did. The food was excellent and the staff were great.. couldn’t fault the place at all. Would well recommend it to you. You won’t be disappointed..
06/03/2020: Went for dinner with friends. Good choice on the menu and specials board. I had a vegetarian dish, one friend chose from specials. The food is always excellent, the service is always excellent and very attentive. Its a first choice dining location for us. We also regularly go to the 'Beat the Clock' excellent value and choice of meals.

Primrose, Ribble Valley, 30-45£
22/03/2020: It was lovely food with great staff. My husband and mother enjoyed cheese and onion pie, daughter had lasagne. I would have liked a few more lower calorie options I had egg, beans and toast which was lovely. I was a bit disappointed as I had gone specifically for the chicken broth and they had sold out.
11/02/2020: I come most weeks to meet up with friends, everything we have tried on the menu is delicious, the home made chips 🤤. All cakes sampled have been much enjoyed too. Staff are all friendly and nothing is any trouble.

The White Bull Hotel Restaurant

Gisburn, Rimington, Ribble Valley
11/03/2020: We were given a voucher for two three course meals plus a glass of prosecco each - £7.25 for starter, main to value of £15,95 and dessert for £6.95 from the a la carte menu. On arrival we were given both the a la carte and the Chefs Special menus to choose from. As neither of us like prosecco we enquired if we could have something different - we were offered soft drinks - which only myself took advantage of and had a diet coke. My husband got a pint of lager which we understood we would have to pay for.
09/03/2020: Great venue, staff very attentive always willing to help, both in the function room and general bar area. Buffet food was great as well. Don't know where they got DJ from but he was brilliant, kept kids and adults involved all night and very inventive!

The Garden Kitchen

Bowland, Newton and Slaidburn, Ribble Valley
05/03/2020: Modern cafe with garden themed decoration. Indoor and outdoor seating, and currently being expanded too. We only had coffee / tea / cakes, but all very nice. Coffee hot and beautifully strong. (Tables by the windows are lovely, but no blinds so direct sun can be blinding / hot).
03/03/2020: Lovely lunch with a friend today - everything was perfect - the food, the service and the ambience : we stayed quite a while but were never rushed - we couldn’t have chosen a better place to catch up and the glass house with gift ideas was superb! Everyone was so friendly - all seemed happy and proud to work there too! Thank you and see you again soon.

The Potting Shed

Alston and Hothersall, Ribble Valley
22/03/2020: We had our first taste of The Potting Shed today, Mother’s Day. Due to the Coronavirus we were not able to eat in the establishment itself, but had a takeaway version of their Mother’s Day afternoon tea.
17/03/2020: Once again, amazing Afternoon Tea and also a mini version for a 7 year old which he enjoyed. Great location, super friendly staff, can’t wait to come back.

Angels Restaurant

Ribchester, Ribble Valley, 45-60£
05/03/2020: Perfect service The best food for that special occasion always Will go back time and time again We always go on special dates and we always come out with amazing thoughts Great cocktails and fab wine selection
28/02/2020: Have been meaning to try this restaurant for a while but it is only open in the evenings apart from Sundays, so the occasion of a 60th birthday gave us an ideal opportunity. Well, we wished we had given it a try years ago because it exceeded all expectations. As a former Catering Lecturer, my husband dreads taking me out for meals, but this was a joyous experience. The taster menu we were encouraged to try gave us a delicious marriage of flavours and textures for every course and although we thought we may be individually disappointed by some dishes, in fact we loved all of them in equal measure. Thank you Angels for a lovely evening.

Downham Ice Cream Shop

Chatburn, Ribble Valley
21/12/2019: really spoilt for choice on ice cream and such a lovely place to sit out to enjoy some of the best ice cream around . my husband also enjoyed apple pie to die for
17/09/2019: Yesterday we were out on an afternoon drive when we came across this lovely ice cream shop, although as we soon found it it sold much more than just ice cream. In reality we were lucky since we later found that the internet said the shop closes on a Monday. There was a huge choice of flavours at very reasonable prices, depending on your choice of cornet. We sat in the sun on the lovely seating provided outside the shop complete with flowers and a copy of the Ribble Valley magazine. Excellent!

Inn at Whitewell

Littlemoor, Ribble Valley, 45-60£
14/03/2020: Fell in love with this hotel when I came for my 30th birthday celebrations. The location is breath taking looking over the river and surrounding fields. The log fires create a cozy atmosphere which was perfect after a day of long walking. The staff were great, couldn't do enough for you, and the food was amazing. We fired out a function room and it was prefect. The bedrooms are very good sizes and extremely well decorated. The little shop was a lovely touch too with local gifts (got some lovely honey) and souvenirs of the hotel we loved it that much! Big thank you to everyone for making my birthday one not to forget :)
09/03/2020: Arrived at noon for Sunday lunch with friends. Despite the fact that it was just opening it was packed. We did manage to find ourselves a table in a smallish room with a log fire. Very dog friendly, almost as many dogs as people, im not a big fan of dogs in restaurants but realise many people like to bring dogs after a walk. Spare a thought for people that may be allergic to dogs though.

Northcote Restaurant

Langho, Ribble Valley, 60-100£
18/04/2020: We have wanted to try Lisa’s cuisine for a long time, influenced by her frequent TV appearances and apparent focus on good local produce. As ever, we should not have believed the hype and saved our money and petrol.
20/03/2020: We celebrated my wife’s BIG birthday in February along with 44 friends and family. This was th first visit to Northcote for several guests and they were all most complimentary. We have been visiting for over 20 years and we decided there was nowhere better to celebrate the occasion. As usual the staff were charming and helpful particularly Robyn who helped hugely in the organisation of the party. The food and wine were up to the usual high standard both on Saturday and Sunday evenings. We always have a wonderful time at Northcote and look forward to the next visit

Brown Cow

Chatburn, Ribble Valley, >100£
12/03/2020: This is the first time we have bee to The Brown Cow and we were not disappointed. It was a warm welcome as we arrived all the staff were smartly dressed too. The food was excellent freshly cooked and very tasty. Our plates were hot and full to bursting. One of us had scampi the other had lasagna and the third had Gammon. Lovely chunky chips and nice veg not just peas came with our meals. This is definitely a very good restaurant and I can’t wait to come back and try some other dishes. There is also a brilliant Vegan/ gluten free menu.
23/02/2020: This must one of the best restaurant in the Ribble Valley, always a warm welcome awaits you has you enter this village pub. You can feel the friendly atmosphere from all the staff, the lads behind the bar are always smartly dressed, shirt and tie, and the waitresses are all in black and looking really smart. The service is the best you could get, within minutes you are shown to your table and then they bring your drinks over, we were lucky last night because we didn’t book because it was a last minute decision to go out and by 17:00 it was getting ready busy. The food was fantastic and very tasty,

Millie's, Hurst Green

Aighton, Bailey and Chaigley, Ribble Valley
29/02/2020: Staying at a Travelodge meant I was on the hunt for breakfast - usual haunt Wetherspoons for Eggs Benedict but some of the exhibitors suggested Millies - great choice. Lovely breakfast and a super barm for lunch - will certainly visit again in August
19/01/2020: What a gem of a find. Out walking along the Ribble. Fantastic service, great value and so attentive. brilliant
