The best restaurants serving Default food in Monument Taunton Deane South West

We have used the pub for many years but having moved away we made a special trip back and weren't disappointed. The owners have now added the 'Snuggery' which is a beautiful self contained holiday let which is in the old part of the pub. We were greeted by the warmest of welcomes from Vic and Paulette [the owners] and shown to our room which consisted of a lounge, kitchen and beautiful bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Once settled in we were made to feel welcome in the bar where we had drinks and caught up before sitting down to a wonderful meal. My partner and I both had the steak and ale pie with fresh, perfectly cooked veg and crispy chips [some of which kept finding their way onto my partners plate!!] - followed by sticky toffee pud for him and cheese cake for me! The service is warm, friendly and nothing is too much trouble for the team. After a few more drinks we went up to our room and had a fab nights sleep before heading down in the morning to a roaring log fire and freshly cooked breakfast. Needless to say we didn't want to leave!

The roast was outstanding! I got the three meat option (pork, turkey and beef). Everything was cooked really well, the roast potatoes and all the veggies had the perfect texture, and the gravy had a lot of flavor and thickness. This was one of the best roast dinners I’ve ever had 😮‍💨

Great Service, great food, nice ambience. Reasonable value. Despite booking in advance the staff tried to palm us off with a solitary table in the games room. Some lads were playing pool right by the table. Little bit naughty but they eventually found us a nice table. Bear that in mind when you book.

What a great little cafe. so busy too . staff very helpful see you to your seats. upstairs and downstairs seating . Food arrived in super quick time and was lovely. i had spanish omelette and my partner had a fry up . Thank you for pleasant visit we will return .

Rude, grumpy staff completely ignored us at till for ages until a rude response that menu was not ready for lunch, however, we were just there for cake and coffee. Decided wasn’t worth it as selection was dire and just went to Blackdown instead for homemade cake and lovely staff - only 100 yards down the road. Don’t waste your time.

Disappointing roast, after what looked like a great Sunday lunch on the menu it turned out to be quite disappointing, roast potatoes were hard the roast beef wasn't great and there wasn't much choice of veg. Stuffing (1 piece) was the size of a ping pong ball, we also had to ask for extra gravy which when it arrived was barely enough to drown a fly in. They seemed to be very tight with portions Some nice extra fresh veg would of been enough to make it worthwhile it seems this place struggles on knocking up a decent roast.
