Best vegan roast we have had in years. Really accommodating staff with lots of little thoughtful extras. Can't rate it highly enough. Great value for money too. The desserts were delicious too. It's so nice to have proper inclusive menus that cater for everyone, well done blue ball! We will be back very soon.

I came for lunch with my twin 6 year old boys. I didn't book but the staff were so accommodating and were able to fit us in. The food was excellent and the staff were so friendly.

Lovely little pub we picked by pure chance for a roast dinner on our way home to Devon, the staff were great very friendly and helpful and the roast dinner was excellent with a couple of little twists that enhanced the whole meal, if we're ever in the area will definitely use again.

First time here for Sunday lunch but it certainly won't be the last!!! Probably the best roast I've had. Everything cooked to perfection and vegetables served separately. All staff super friendly. Really good vibe and nearly all tables full. Excellent experience and highly recommended. I would advise booking as it seems a very popular place. We will certainly be returning 😁😁

I honestly cannot give this place enough stars !!! The best vegan roast we have EVER had, like ever !!! It was so gratifying to be able to take our daughter out for dinner and see her smile without the same familiar frustrations with a limited tasteless menu. The Blue Ball, have proven that it is possible, infact not difficult at all to cater to all dietary needs, without loosing flavour or content. Delicious vegan cauliflower cheese, vegan Yorkshire puddings, the most delicious nut roast on the entire planet. Generous portions too !! A beautiful platter of vegetables, with knowledgeable staff, able to tell you which were dairy free and which were not. Absolutely packed full of flavour, I didn’t reach for the salt once. If this wasn’t enough, they had not one, but FOUR dairy free desert options !!! A simple “this can be made dairy free with dairy free cream” I felt like singing from the rooftops. The Blue Ball I feel should stand as a shining example to all other “local, rural pubs” I mean who wants a tasteless bland lentil burger when you can have this !!! And no, they didn’t cost the earth either, well under £90 for 3 meals, 3 deserts and drinks !! Our sincerest gratitudes to the chef, you made our day, thank you so much !!

Visited for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago - party of 10. Customer service was excellent from the time I booked to the time the proprietor/chef came out to the car park to say goodbye as we were leaving. Very refreshing not to have a service charge added to the bill or even as an option on the card machine (obviously we left some cash as a tip!). The food was great too - huge Sunday roast and the vegetables were particularly great (can I have the recipe for the red cabbage, please?). If I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely go back.

Had the most delicious vegan roast here today- 5 different veg ( including cauliflower “cheese”!) as well as the most amazing roast potatoes AND ( fanfare , drumroll!) Yorkshire pudding!!! The staff were so lovely- Fiona and her team did us proud!

Such a cosy pub, great service and the food is absolutely delicious! Great veggie and vegan options too. They had an enoki mushroom special which was SO good! Definitely recommend!

Incredible food, best vegan roast in the area!

So after reading some good reviews about your food we decide to give it a go & we both ordered the vegetarian roast & the delicious Otter Amber. Well I can only say how disappointed we both were with the meat alternative on our plates - a bland small portion of what could only compare to stuffing, with the same look & texture but completely flavourless, no sign of any nuts, lentils or anything else!! My partner is 6ft with a big build & has been vegetarian for over 40 years now & he is also always disappointed with the huge portions served on the meat roasts &, frankly, charging us the same price as the other roasts was just insult to injury - I understand that you have had to put up your prices due to the cost of living crisis but £15 for the meat 'alternative' is just a rip off..... It's a shame as we really liked the pub decor & the ale, although the constant noise from the M5 put us off the beer garden - as I said we do like to support local places as we want them to stay open & we thought we'd found a good new one to go to........I wrote directly to the pub prior to writing this review suggesting perhaps they could offer us a voucher so we can try your other veggie options & remedy the unsatisfactory roast experience but never anything back from them - very poor!

Amazing pub run by friendly, polite and helpful staff. Food is amazing, not the cheapest but you pay for what you get. Have been a few times and wouldn't hesitate to go there again

3 of us ate there in the evening. We sat outside, the sun shining with a lovely view. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. Between us we had 3 different meals and empty plates returned by all 3 of us!! A lovely meal. We will definitely be booking again.

Party of 4 visited. Steak excellent, two duck specials so-so and a burger which was not enjoyed. Service friendly. Venue lacked atmosphere somewhat.

Popped in for an improv roast, fantastic roast with tasty trimmings. Good sized portions and friendly staff. Couldn't fault and will be back.

We have visited a few times but on Saturday it was not so good. Seemed very busy and the food was nowhere near as good as normal. Will visit again after Christmas.

Excellent meal and service. Had Hunters chicken, best I've ever tasted, with triple cooked chips, yummy. The desserts were gorgeous as well, could have tried all of them. If you want to eat quality food, then I highly recommend you give them a try. Will definitely be going back soon.

A fabulous trio of meats roast dinner, followed by a home-made dessert. Fiona is such a fabulous chef & hostess. Hubby says he had the best bread & butter pudding he has ever eaten - & Fiona will not share her recipe! Going onto take-away service during lockdown 😁

Really tasty nicely cooked food with a good selection, and wholesome appealing children's menu. Good staff and friendly clientele. Parking across the road and beer garden with amazing views. Close to Blackdown Hills; Area of Outstanding Beauty, ..and it is. My son is a toddler and the local patrons kindly reminded me as soon as he stood up about the country lane between the front door of the pub and the beer garden, which was absolutely brilliant, we all know how children can turn ninja when they see a door! Pub is clean and pretty and the toilets are hygenic. Overall lovely food, lovely people, lovely place.

Four of us popped in here for a Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. Extremely good quality food and very friendly local service. We have visited before,but this time we all opted for the roast, it really was of the best quality. For a desert I had the four tasters which were beautiful! Good value all round, we will be going back with friends in two weeks... this is an edit, after returning for a second visit, we had to return a plate of risotto to the kitchen as it was a disaster, and a steak was totally overcooked... shame, unreliable quality.
