Skylark in Taunton Deane

We hadn't been for quite a while, so decided to try it again. Service...this varied, the waitress at the table we had was still learning as she was new, but she was happy, helpful and willing to learn, good qualities in a member of staff. However, the lady who we met at the door and led us to our table, certainly lacked these helpful cheerful qualities. Food.....the food was ok, not amazing, but definitely lacked quantity. The chicken breast we had was tiny and you could nearly count the quantity of chips on one hand. I'm not surprised the menu offers the option to double the quantity of chips at a cost, if you feel you need more to eat!!It's not a value for money place and as the previous reviewer said it's more like an expensive Weatherspoons.

The staff were friendly and attentive without being disruptive. Lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious and served in a timely manner. Excellent service all around.

Having read some good reviews we thought we would try out the Skylark in Wellington. Service it must be said was excellent throughout the evening however the lasagnas came with the tiniest of salad. Both the steaks were fine but £5.85 for a pint of inches cider is excessive and this together with beer prices is not recorded on the website and overall drink prices were high. Coupled with the fact that we felt like we were in a Wetherspoons the nearly £90 bill was disappointing.

Excellent pub very busy and lively, all the staff were very friendly would definitely recommend to anyone going out for dinner or any occasions the lovely member of stars serving us Jasmine was very helpful when it came to our allergy we had and helped us through the menu would 100 perfect be returning

Came to the skylark on a busy Wednesday service connor the chef came out to get a drink and after hearing i was waiting for a drink for a long time he helped by making them for me top guy

Went for Sunday lunch. Website advertises choice of three meats. We were advised only had beef. Ordered at 1pm and told it had run out! Second choice of mixed grill also run out. How can you run out of Sunday lunch at 1pm on a Sunday?

We came in as a last minute treat, so we hadnt booked on this occasion but was no problem was we were found a table. We made use of the good steak offer, and they did not disappoint! All steaks were cooked to perfection and came out in no time at all (even though they was very busy). We have booked again for my sons birthday next month as he always loves coming here. Thanks to all the staff aswell, they was all fab!

My son had the large mixed grill, didnt eat half the meat, fatty steak, dry hard chicken, clearly a frozen piece, gammon tasteless. No one came to ask how we were although staff sat behind us. All I can say is my dogs had a good tea. Will not be going back!

Awful. The starters were wrong and awful. Halloumi fries need to be removed from the menu. Took nearly 2 hours for mains and the waitress seemed miserable. All in all a terrible experience and not cheap. We were charged over £10 for a glass of wine in a place that resembles weatherspoons. Avoid!

We were a group of four, and only one meal was satisfactory in all honesty. We all regularly eat at the Skylark, and all the service and food is usually up to a great standard. However, yesterday wasn't! A bun that my granddaughter had with her burger was virtually cremated. More black than a light tan colour and also tasted burnt..... inedible! My wife's kebab meal was so swamped in a very watery garlic mayo, that the it was almost papier mache. Again, inedible! A side of fries that my daughter had were so obviously the dregs of the last batch of fries. Just tiny peices of dried up, fat ridden potato that you couldn't get a fork in if you taken a run up!! Yet again, inedible!! All in all an extremely disappointing visit that will make me question any further visits for some time to come. I didn't complain at the time, as my wife is very reticent to do that sort of thing, and so I refrained. But as I've received an email this morning asking the question "how did we do?", I've decided to vent my displeasure.

Children’s meals were incorrect and told twice it was my mistake until they finally realised it was theirs and then replaced the meals by which point everyone else had finished their own meals, chips were cold

First off staff here are very rude especially the female manager. Food and plates were cold. Will not be going here with my family again. There language was extremely colourful. Not a family environment.

Not usually a fan of this type of chain pub but glad we took the chance. The service was excellent throughout from booking to bill. The food was well above normal standard with everything cooked really well and served hot. I chanced the mixed grill, only because I had seen one being served. Now in a lot of these places some bits would be over and some under but not here everything cooked just right.

Excellent service from Jasmine and Keely tonight. We are regular visitors here and they remember my dietary needs and make sure I get the gluten free I need. Lovely choice of gluten-free meals, but my favourite at the moment is the Cowboy Burger with sweet potato fries. When you approach the Skylark the aroma of the grill is very enticing and the food doesn’t disappoint. Good value too.

Miserable supervisor/waitress that greeted us at the door. We sat down, nice dining area. We were looked after a pleasant waitress, different to one on arrival, a pregnant lady, at least she had a smile on her face. We got a chicken starter, when we ordered style. We eat meat so just let it go, but didn't realise initially. The Steaks were awful and we waited ages for our main. We decided not to stay for dessert. Went to the bar to pay, same initial lady took payment, no questions such as did you enjoy your meal, was everything OK for you, enjoy the rest of your evening, nothing. It said on the card machine "pay tip?" She pressed no before I could decide, not that I would of given a tip. Just a smile and some platitudes would be nice especially for a customer service role, it would even soften the blow for a terrible meal and perhaps have warranted a second chance but we won't return.

We had the Lamb shank , very well cooked the meat just melted in the mouth , maybe a little pricie but well worth every penny , will be sure to go again . A very enjoyable evening .

Was greeted after a short wait. Was taken to a table. We were shown where the food and drink menus were on our table and was told to order at the bar or via the app. No mention about any deals, there was nothing on the table indicating that they had any offers on. As a family of 4 and a birthday treat for myself we ordered over £60 and over £15 worth of drinks. The food came out in drips and drabs. We had to mention what sides we ordered and ask where they were. On one order was ment to double fries. Explained to the waitress that they were definitely not double as they were the same sized portions as the other 2 similar meals, she appoligised and took the plate. She came back promptly and said that they were cooking some more fries (why my plate had to be taken is beyond me, she could have had the rest put on a side plate) when it came back the fries that had been cooked were placed ontop of the fries and the ones that were forst cooked became a soggy texture and the rest of my food was now cold. The burger was ment to be a spicy sauce one, unfortunately there was hardly any sauce. Garlic bread was ordered as a side but tasted just like bread. It looked like there was Garlic on there but definitely couldn't taste it. When leaving on some not all tables we noticed that they had something different that our table didn't have. It was a cube shape woth the different days on and what deals they had one. I was gutted to learn that after i could have had a curry and a pint for a set price. Which is what 3 out of the 4 of us would have ordered. Unfortunately the food was not worth what we paid, we were very disappointed that we were not told any offers and that our order wasn't out in one. We could understand if they were busy but it was very quite. Won't be returning again.

Regularly pop in for a weekday lunch , never had a bad meal , booked for festive menu today , the service was great , food was hot and really tasty . Friendly , relaxed atmosphere. Well done to all the staff front of house and behind the scenes, it’s was very busy and you were working as a team and remained professional and efficient. Hope you all get some down time after Christmas, well deserved .

Popped out to the Skylark for dinner to save cooking. We were greeted at the door and shown to a table. It was nice and warm in the restaurant with music playing and a good atmosphere. I had the fish and chips, which was very tasty. A large piece of fish, fresh chunky chips and peas. My husband had the burger, which he also enjoyed. The staff are friendly and helpful. A good family pub/restaurant and reasonably priced.

Standard pub with standard menu .staff friendly meals reasonably priced. If you are in the area or staying at the Travelodge next door then its fine as a fuel stop otherwise there are better places to eat in the area

Good friendly welcome, wide choice of our classics etc. Had a steak and the pie, steak was excellent properly cooked, pie was a ok but a bit dis[pointed. Deserts were great! Service excellent. Would use again.

Been coming here every weekend for past few weeks as been staying in travel lodge all staff are very friendly and accommodating and nothing is too much trouble all meals are very tasty and nicely cooked never had a bad meal yet Kay is also lovely takes the time to have a chat with you and that would highly recommend a visit xxx

Celebration meal for 18 family members. Tables were ready. Made welcome by staff, quickly took drink orders as other family joined us. Once everyone had arrived meal orders were taken. All meals served at the same time. The food was well presented, hot and exactly what everyone had ordered. Staff always attentive, the service was brilliant, everyone enjoyed their meals. Could not have asked for more. Thank you.

What an amazing place this is food is amazing and the staff are so friendly. We are here every weekend atm kaye the manageress is so lovely and goes out of her way to make us feel at home. We will definitely miss it 😢

Im a regular here it's a great spot for food, came in with my son for food was great little miss hap with the cheese burger having no cheese but host and manager sorted out straight away was great service overall.
