Nice pub, ale is well kept and the staff are welcoming. I'm glad I found it as it's off the Main Street but well worth a visit. Prices are good as well.

Went for Sunday lunch and was told we don't do food or hot drinks on Sunday. Need to sort website out as it says they do. No wonder there was only one person in there. Very poor show

Went here for a skittles night with work colleagues. We ordered a buffet, which was delicious! The sandwiches were proper thick bread and a good variety of meat and veggie. The staff were welcoming and the pub had a friendly and happy atmosphere. We had a great night and will definitely return.

Visiting Taunton, we visited a number of great pubs. This is not one. Over sensitive about music equipment which was not sectioned off. Would not go back..

A really nice time for a leaving do in the skittle alley with food. A couple of vegetarians that struggled a bit in the buffet but not sure if they declared vegetarian when booking.

Very nice local pub just off the main street. Couple of hand pumps on, Tribute and landlord are kept. Nice area to sit in the sunshine outside the pub, can be fun to watch the traffic going past. Dog friendly as well.

Skittles on Tuesday good atmosphere

We went to listen to a band and had a wonderful time. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere was very good with everyone enjoying themselves. The landlord can sing too👏👏👏

My granddaughters wedding reception, it was really great , the buffet was ,good, a great selection and plenty of it . Great disco and the staff were really friendly. Garden was good with plenty of seats.

Lovely place lovely new landlords, good drinks value for money, always clean, and a range of entertainment, can't wait until the kitchen is running again as I know this couple will do well with support from the locals and other people and me and my partner will be 2 of those people, come on in and see for yourself.

Recently had new staff, which are polite, friendly and inviting. Good clean venue offering live music. Pub sports, pool, darts and skittles. Good selection of drinks and not overpriced. Nice beer garden out the back too.

We have just been for Sunday lunch, 3rd July 2022. We thought we'd booked by email but - BE AWARE - the email address on Tripadvisor is no longer valid. Plus: the barmaid found us a table in the corner of the pool room (they were very busy). The food, when it came, was well-cooked and very tasty. There was a choice of beef, pork or turkey. The vegetables - cabbage, carrots, peas and cauliflower cheese - were well cooked and hot. Apple, and cranberry, sauces were brought automatically, to suit our choices of meat. When I paid, I was told that, if we go again, we could ask for a child's meal (as we don't eat a lot now we're older). Minus: we were told we would have to wait for 20 minutes before we were served, and it was over half an hour. The floor in the bar was sticky. The meal arrived already plated. (It may be a personal choice, but we would rather have the meat and potatoes on the plate, with vegetables and gravy served separately.) There was only a choice of roasts - no alternative menu. We had read, somewhere, that the pub had had a £95,000 refurbishment. If so, the pool room had not even been redecorated! The barmaid had no assistance, though she coped very well with serving drinks and meals. At the moment, they do not serve meals during the week, though they may try during the summer.

Great garden at the back that you wouldn't know about as not advertised. Ashtrays need emptying a d dog shirt picking up. Range of beers 🍻 excellent.

Have just returned from a night out playing a great game of darts. Food was provided after the match. Initially it looked lovely it was fish bites, chips and peas. Couldn’t ask for a nicer after match noshup admit we’ve had worse! But the chips were already salted. Two of my team were unable to eat as they have a dietary restriction of salt. I just don’t like added salt for personal taste. I asked politely if there were chips unsalted he replied no sorry. Having returned to my team to explain this we got into a discussion about how most eating establishments wouldn’t do this and allow the customer to make that option if they wanted to. Returning to explain about his cooking and that’s what he does I asked him if he was aware that some people are not allowed to have extra salt added to their meal (respect that some amount of salt is used in the cooking process) as it could effect their health his reply was no I didn’t know but it’s what I do. So I then asked does he display any information to the customer that they needed to be aware of anything extra that is added to the meal. He said no does that then mean I should tell you that there is butter on the peas!! I found him very rude and very defensive about his cooking. Basically we got it for nothing so what’s the issue was his attitude. I’m not normally one for making an issue about things but I feel that others should know ( because we didn’t!) to ask before they order not to add any extra salt if they don’t want it!

Went to the PR with a couple of friends to watch the Wales England game in the 6 Nations. Full lively pub and would happily come back to watch another game.

Comfy, nice, stew was amazing. We are going to go there more regularly. Not been in the evening yet as they have advertised a band. We do not go out very often. But this place will most likely make us. Haha

Haven’t been in since before COVID. The revamp has made a noticeable improvement. Great cocktails, gins and beer. The landlords are friendly, helpful and interested. Worth checking out, jukebox and pool table. Dogs welcome

I visited on the Saturday 4th December on a pub crawl , very friendly bar staff and a good pint but no atmosphere because there was only 4 more customers in the bar at around 9pm

Had our works hristmas do here. Very friendly staff and they put on a lovely buffet.

Been here a few times recently and have to say its loads better than my visit was a few years back! Staff are really nice and laid back, the interior is much better and the beer garden is great. Love the fact they have a pool table and that they welcome dogs

Booked a table to watch a sport game. Came in, took our seat and the member of bar staff was very pleasant and helpful. Then the chef/possible owner tells us very rudely he’s watching another game. Our booking to watch that game was irrelevant. He put the game on in the skittles room so it was no issue but he was so rude about it. When I went back to the bar he wasn’t even watching the game. Neither was the one table in who I asked if they minded if we put the other game on. Strange! He clearly has no interest in customers.

We were looking forward to coming here after we had a gorgeous roast a few years ago. However, sadly we were presented with something very different. There was only one choice of meat, which was served with frozen mixed vegetables, a tiny Yorkshire pudding and gravy that was so salty it tainted the whole meal. Sadly this took a while to arrive at the table, during which other customers were commenting about the poor quality of food. We understand that the premises has only recently been taken over, I'm sure things will improve once they find their feet. On the positive side the young lady that served us was very pleasant and welcoming and the refurbishment looks good. We wish you well for the future.

I’ve been for breakfast twice since lockdown and the service has been impressive, great value for money, great food and the owners/staff can’t do enough for you. We observed Covid cleaning and social distancing from the owners and other customers, it felt clean & safe :)

Staff very friendly and quickly fixed issues we had. Unfortunately no hot vegetarian meal on the reduced menu though :(

Very reasonably priced and deceptively spacious inside. Carvery was good, roast potatoes were great and the home made chocolate brownie was 🔥 amazing 🔥

Not bad pub for my first visit in awhile. Entertainment not bad. But ran out of two largers tho. Also disabled toilet in the men's loos! With a step to get down. But on the whole not bad refit. Not a bad night.

Had my first ever game of skittles at this lil pub with such warm and welcoming staff. The selection of cocktails and beers were reasonably priced.

They serve great roast dinners here and service always excelkent but sadly they are closing down

If you're going to watch cricket, stop here for a burger first. A lot cheaper than the cricket ground.

We have been coming on a Sunday for the last fifteen years. We find it's like home cooking .

I booked the Princess Royal for a skittles night and a buffet. I have to say, we had so much fun and the buffet was excellent, everyone said it was nice and plenty to eat too. The staff is so friendly and nothing was too much trouble either and that in my book is a huge tick and always makes a difference for the whole experience. I will definitely be making arrangements for the next reunion. They had a band playing in the bar area... No idea who he was, but we could hear him in the skittle alley and he was very good too! I booked Skittle Alley and a buffet for a work reunion. We has so much fun and the food was lovely, everyone said they had plenty to eat and it was nice and at a very reasonable price too. I also have to say a huge thank you to the staff at the Princess Royal for their hard work and nothing was too much trouble and made a huge refreshing change to have such friendly and happy ... I genuinely can't thank them enough. I will be making arrangements for next years reunion that's for sure!

I've not been here before. Not sure what to expect . The food was excellent. No frills just a good wholesome meal.Hot and good size portions. Everyone enjoyed their meal. All at a reasonable price too. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Clean and bright loos too. Just looked a bit tired and dark in the main area . Would go there again. 😁

We popped in here after the cricket. The staff and locals were welcoming and chatty. Good range of beers available. We did not try any food. It appeared to be very good value in comparison to other town centre pubs.
