Cracking micro pub, very welcoming, great decor, good selection of ale, good price, went in yesterday with my 'driver' (daughter) tried a plum porter ale called Titanic went down very well!. I think I'm right in saying they are just going to celebrate 8 years of being open, congratulations to staff, owners..... and punters of course

Sunday lunch. A table for four adults. Main courses : Our friends ordered the beef which arrived four slices, acceptably sized. My partner and I both ordered the pork belly. When the plates were placed before us, we were taken-aback as to how little pork there was in this dish, and that had been decided as being a reasonable amount. Two ‘fingers’ of meat each, we approximate as being about 3cm x 10cm x 1cm. Beef being a more expensive meat than pork, we couldn’t understand why we were given so little, and certainly not an amount which lived up to expectation, nor considered your money’s worth, no matter how nice a plate may look. On top of that, we were genuinely astounded at the bowl of vegetables (swede and kale) which was placed on the table for us to somehow share. There was so little of it, you would have thought it were intended for two. I checked with the waitress to see if there was another one coming, but she said ‘no. That is the amount for four people. We said to the waitress who went off, but no one returned to address this. (We think that speaking to the chef was mentioned, particularly with the lack of meat). We waited, said to another member of staff, and after nothing had happened, I stopped the man who looked as if he were the manager. We explained our dissatisfaction and he arranged for more vegetables to turn up, which was good, only that he didn’t address the lack of pork. For what we had, the food was enjoyable and skilfully cooked, but having to raise these issues with more than one member of staff, with one issue being overlooked or ignored, although we paid the added 12 1/2% tip, we still don’t feel that we are totally satisfied with the service or value for money.

Went here for brunch. 2 young girls serving. Table cleaned with what looked like a dirty tea towel. Ordered our breakfasts. Daughter ordered an oat milk latte and it wasn’t a latte when it came out. Breakfasts had a funny taste. Lots of burnt bits, bacon so crisp and burnt not pleasant to eat. It seemed like they’d been cooked in a dirty pan. Egg overcooked, no runny yolk. It’s a shame as it was always good. Would have said something but the guy was taken outside by another customer who I think was also complaining.

First time diner last night for their Thali Tuesday, which we all enjoyed. I haven't had a Thali in ages and this menu was varied. The food was tasty and the service attentive. The samosa desserts are a real treat too. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

I have lived in the area for 38 years and i have past the Wheatsheaf countless times.. But this time we decided to stop and give it a try for Sunday dinner. I now have One regret , that i had not visited this little Gem much, much sooner.. We were greeted by Mikey, He exuded a genuine welcome and warmth to us the moment we walked in.. The Sunday Roast was excellent . My Son and Granddaughter tucked into a home made Chocolate Brownie .. there only complaint was that couldn't have a second helping !! I am sure that it won't be long before we visit again

It’s called the Hungry Guest for a reason……You’ll be hungry after visiting as a guest. Dimly lit, curt staff and tiny portions. Huge plates though but poorly filled. I wish I’d check the reviews before I ordered. My pic is of the “English Breakfast” but unlike everywhere else tea and toast is extra. Looks like child’s portion doesn’t it ? You’d never believe that miniature portion cost a tenner 🤣🤣🤣. The Mrs asked for the fried eggs on the smashed avocado on sour dough to be changed to scrambled. The answer was a flat “No”. Never again, don’t waste your money
