The best restaurants serving Default food in Southcote Reading South East

Lovely food, we really like the Chinese and the fish and chips. We get a takeaway from here most weeks. The owners are lovely, so friendly and even remember us by name. I definitely recommend it!

A small independent cafe cooking food as and when ordered. Menu is a little exciting, providing English and some Nepalese food. Good prices, catering largely to shoppers visiting the small precinct. Friendly and competent owner and family.

Been here several times and always great food. This time served by Hannah who was excellent and deserves a promotion.

We stopped at Moto Reading for a quick bite and I wanted something else than a burger from the usual sources. This was the first time for me to try out Chow and their katsu chicken was a pleasant surprise. They are not going to put high end restaurants out of business, but you get a healthier alternative to the burger places on their left and right. I would have preferred it with a large amount of veggies, but all in all it was a decent portion of a good curry with friendly service. They also sell sushi; that's for next time.

Unfortunately it appeared so understaff that the staff working were incredibly busy and overwhelmed. It took 20 minutes to clear our plates and a further 20 minutes to get us the bill. We wanted desserts but didn’t bother waiting in the end. When we asked for the dessert menu, the server brushed us off and said how busy she was. She was very rude but I expect she was just feeling a lot of pressure. We felt the waiting around and lack of server attention spoilt the meal for us. Our table was also dirty, sticky and the wasn’t very pleasant. Unfortunately we wouldn’t return.
