First things first. I’ve never had a bad meal from Mr Pink’s, and this was no exception. The haddock & chips, as always, was absolutely delicious. But the warning signs that all is not well are creeping in. The young staff work hard and are friendly enough, but the adults who run the place are perennially grumpy. Expect a moan about the rising price of raw ingredients - if you’re lucky. And the opening hours are a joke. See attached photo. You’re less likely to find Mr Pink’s open for business than you are to bump into the Abominable Snowman on Lymington High Street. My advice would be as follows. If times are hard and profit is elusive, open the doors, roll your sleeves up, and sell more fish & chips. Mr Pink’s product is good enough, it just needs to be matched by hard work and determination. Otherwise we all know how this story will end, don’t we? And none of us wants that.

Best fish and chips in a long time… the small size of the kiosk had me convinced it would just be drinks etc, but oh, how wrong I was! Such a variety, quick and friendly service

Went here last night as a group of 12 people, it’s a lovely old building plenty of charm and warmth . We had an evening meal with starters mains and some lids . I had cheesey garlic mushrooms which were delicious my husband had nachos others had soup , prawn cocktail, pate . Everyone was complimentary . I had steak and kidney pudding that was delicious and light my husband had pesto crust cod on new potatoes the rest of our party had roasts ,gammon, pies ,burgers . Some of the group had puds and enjoyed them I was too full . Staff were very good service was excellent and we enjoyed chatting with them . All in all it was a lovely evening and we all would return again

Recently visited The Royal Oak for an evening meal. Upon arrival we were told there’d be a delay on the food as they only had one chef. These things happen so no big deal. The starters arrival and sadly the Mac and Cheese was missing the cheese so tasted very bland. The main arrived (mushroom and halloumi burger) and it looked very underwhelming, also the chips looked anemic and the coleslaw was very watery. Also some of the sachets of condiments were 6 months out of date (BBE: April 2024). This place used to be good but it appears to have gone downhill.

Got a pepperoni pizza. The man even cut it down in half for me. Only £2.30 absolute steal. Very tasty. Perfect snack.

Building and Rooms lovely. Room was excellent in terms of size, appointment, cleanliness and comfort of bed (unfortunately it was a bit stuffy; noisy when kitchen fans were on; and, strangely, no-where to hang towels). Unfortunately, the Downstairs (bar and Restaurant) is tired and has a 'grubby pub' feel; e.g. crockery not clean, 'restaurant' waiting staff were super friendly but not knowledgeable nor efficient. Barman actually quite brusque and pulled cork from £30 bottle of wine out of sight of table and plonked on the table like a bottle of ketchup.
