On-campus restaurant/takeaway. Great choice of dishes - good value deals or full menu choice. The dishes we had were really tasty and portions were good. Many dishes not normally seen at an 'english' Chinese place. The place is no-frills with shared tables. You order at the counter and collect your food when called. It's not fancy, but a good place to eat if you're on campus.

This little family owned coffee shop has a lovely cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. There are a great range of drinks on offer at reasonable prices. They also do a great breakfast menu and some lovely "light bite" type lunches- soups, sandwiches, baked potatoes etc. Always finish off with one of their delicious home baked cakes or a Wallings ice cream!!

Best place to get fish and chips, friendly staff service was great phoned nip down and collect order what could be easier.

The legendary clock may have disappeared (forever?) but at least the heritage centre may have now have been saved. The lovely cafe is part of that important heritage. The orange, lemon and lime cake I had with a latte may have been so moist as to be literally glistening, and less sharp than I expected (hopefully the recipe will be adjusted accordingly) but it won't stop many return visits. Pleasant staff, by the way - very pleasant. Recommended.

Try not be fooled by the look of this place. Just know this is what most Chinese takeaways look like behind those closed doors. Yes, it looked a little unappealing & not always the best to see all the food being prepared. However, we loved it all! Literally the best salt & chili chips we have ever had! So tasty we have spoken about them a lot since, wishing we had a place like this local to us. The mains also a very good standard & nothing to grumble at especially with prices we paid. Two staff working when we collected on a Friday evening & both very friendly & working extremely hard between them with the orders they had coming in. Great food, great service, just be prepared to see a working kitchen that may make you think twice. Just please do not leave, try the CHIPS!

We are often looking for somewhere to stop while travelling north to Scotland, somewhere welcoming and not too far from the M6. Cafe Edelweiss absolutely fits the bill. Leaving very early for a long journey, we appreciated that this cafe was open at 8.30am. Some of the locals also clearly appreciate this, as it was very soon full with regulars. It’s a pleasant environment - calm, relaxed and quiet even when there were quite a few tables full. And even on a grey day, there was lots of natural light coming in through the large windows, The service is great, and the meals come out in good time, with fresh ingredients. Some nice touches, like marmalade to go with your toast even though you have ordered a cooked breakfast. The coffee was a decent strength too. Clean toilet, and car parking close by (entered via the supermarket car park). Just what we were looking for.

I saw the words Chicken Parmo advertised and couldn't resist, being from North east Northumberland this was a rare treat. I wasn't disappointed. Edge's were a little overdone but not inedible I scoffed the lot it was delicious

Stayed for one night - room and bed was okay, could do with a proper airing out and air fresheners added as it smelled a bit musty (in more than one room). WiFi didn’t work that night either. Although there are notices up, people are not quiet when entering the building, so with the thin walls and doors it can get a bit noisy throughout the night. A bit of a strange set up with arrival and check in - having to phone to be let into the main building to check in, which obviously used to be a restaurant/pub. When asking about breakfast (only continental available), it wasn’t going to start until 9.30am which was too late for us. Seems to have ongoing staffing issues and lack of investment which maybe why so much is unavailable or just generally run down - a shame as it’s a good location and main building looks inviting.

Do Not waste your money The place is a shambles, arrived Sunday afternoon no staff anywhere, eventually a lady came no hello or how are you just a you checking in! Asked if there was a menu for 3 people to dine, Nope not serving food she said, I can most probably do something but if rather not. Bedrooms and corridors smell old and musty , breakfast is something to be seen for yourselves. Someone sits by the bar whilst you help yourself to a cold unwelcoming breakfast set up. The croissants were the same for both days, everything is individually wrapped so obviously all bought in, bread is not fresh, meats and continental cheese slices are what you buy from a supermarket. Awful
