Called in this week just as it opened. Doesn't look much from outside but it is the oldest inn in Carnforth. Lovely bar fittings. Nice selection of beers. Friendly. Clean loos. Maybe lighting just a little too bright

Local community pub always worthy of support. Had a lick of paint since some previous pictures, but not an obvious identity and can easily pass by not noticing it’s a pub.

Friday 18th August 2023 This great friendly locals pub has at least 3 rooms This pub is a proper local pub, and the quality of the ample amounts of real ales is very good Well done, all involved The pub is an essential visit for real ale drinkers who enjoy grand hand pumped ales and be in good company of both staff and locals Keep up the good work Saturday 24th February 2024 This great real pub was visited was visited again by us All as begore was the same, and the 4 hand pumped locally brewed ales were lovely. This pub is an essential visit when in the carnforth town drinking end of Tuesday 9th April 2024 Today, we again visited what is an essential visit for real ale drinkers when in this town, as in our last few visits, nothing in this pub has altered, and there are 4 really well-kept, scrumptious hand pumped ales on Keep up the good work all involved

Walked down from Truckhaven and received a warm welcome in this atmospheric pub. The Pod Popping Porter from Westgate Brewery is very drinkable. Will definitely return in the future when in the area.

Lovely couple of hours in the shovel. Last time I was up this way the pub was closed and under renovation. The new landlady is a fantastic host and very friendly as were the locals that were already in when I arrived. I was made to feel like a local. Defo be back. Thank you.😍

Good local pub. Good beer. Good prices. Has Sky Sports. Friendly staff. Been recently renovated and it is a huge improvement on what it was before the lock down closure in 2020. Give it a try if you haven't been for a while.

I've given it 3 stars for the historic side of the pub and the stories that go with it. Be warned if you have a sensitive nose then pass it by theres a really strong funky smell. The landlord tried to shortchange us too. Money left on counter he took a fiver back but we spotted it! We got it back. It's very old very tired very run down but still has a character about it. Stories of a donkey standing at the bar. Maybe that's why theres still a funky smell

Sorry but the atmosphere is dry and the beer choice is sub standard! I won't go back as I prefer a good chat to anyone in the pub and the bar girl set the tone as she poured my pint and rolled her eyes!!!! As I said. Awful atmosphere and far better pubs with in minutes

Been here before for drinks and snacks so first time having a proper meal.. Food was stunning, really pleasant atmosphere and can’t recommend it enough, A main course is all you need. Highly recommend the Chicken and Pancetta pie, it was loaded and cheese sauce was full of flavour, I’m so excited to return for my next meal

I would like to have given 5 stars.but was a little annoyed on Wednesday when we walked there. the weather was lovely 90/ of people that go there are dog owners.there was a number of people when I was there with dogs.. they always have water out for the dogs.. when I asked were the water bowls were the lady serving said it's not up to them to be putting water out as they have never put water out for the dogs it's the lady who lives opposite...as they don't have bowls or containers and don't put water out thought this was a bit rude when most people buying from them and relaxing there like myself and family.i may think twice before I go or recommend it for a nice walk

Really delicious freshly cooked Chips (with gravy, also really nice). Couldn't resist a potato scallop to keep us going while walking back to the prom to eat the chips. Proprietors really very nice people. All in all a great portion of seaside chips!
