The only downside for me was that nearly all the dishes on the menu contained alcohol which is not ideal for someone with an allergy to alcohol.

I have stayed here many times and it’s just become run down. The room I was given was pretty disgusting and looked out on to a staircase. Given the hotel was pretty quiet I am not sure why I had to endure this room. Poor wifi too, not even good for work. It’s a budget hotel and other than the lobby it’s a very budget experience

Really enjoyed my stay here while visiting the University of Lancaster. It is perfect for access to the university. A little far from town if you want to see the castle or other city sights. The restaurant is good and the rooms are comfortable. The main lobby is very old school, smells like a fireplace 24/7.

This hotel has potential. The spa area is nice, it is clean and the pool is a good temperature. Never used the gym, but it overlooks the pool and seems to be a good facility. The sauna and steam were also good. The interior and exterior of the hotel is aesthetically good. Although the main bar area feels a bit more like a pub in comparison to the rest of the hotel. Food was expensive with a limited selection. Drinks were expensive and the lemonade I drank tasted a bit strange. The restaurant was very nice. The waitress who greeted us was very polite and friendly. The food selection was decent but not as broad as it could've been. The breakfast menu was also a bit limited, missing some of the more simple options. The rooms were functional, could be improved but not bad. Unfortunately we found a half eaten Babybel cheese lump under one of the beds. The carpet could've done with a clean. The service when booking the hotel was abysmal. Perhaps this is more of an issue with English Lakes than Lancaster House itself. This hotel was a Christmas gift and we chose to book for 15th February. Booking the hotel via the received voucher took a long time. Long story short, initially English Lakes booked us in for the Wild Boar in Windermere instead of Lancaster House. They also spelled my name incorrectly. They also booked for the wrong month. I notified them of the issue and it wasn't until I called Lancaster House directly that the problem was resolved. A few days prior to the stay, The Wild Boar called me regarding the stay and I had to explain that this was an error by English Lakes. Clearly there is a lack of communication between the hotels that English Lakes operate. Since the trip was on 15th February, we celebrated Valentine's. I emailed prior to my visit asking whether they provide any Valentine's additions such as flowers, chocolates etc. Lancaster House replied with a list of things they could provide, but upon asking for pricing, they never responded. This was quite disappointing. Overall, a decent hotel, a good countryside area, and a nice spa. Has so much potential but was let down by its management.

Nice pub this next to the canal, lots of room and a good atmosphere. A good selection of beers too, with Christmas tipples like mulled wine and ciders too. We had a couple of bar snacks and had the best onion rings In a very very long time, looking forward to coming back and trying other menu items!

Arrived 1405 pm to be told kitchen closes at 1400pm although the business closes at 1500pm..Also made the effort to ring up and was not advised of closure time of kitchen. When trying to explain they assured me I would have been told, basically calling me a liar as no such information was given. When leaving the establishment the manager of the day Jane shouted sarcastically Happy New Year and a girl who was mopping floors found this highly amusing. I went back to ask what part of a customer being turned away and being mocked did the manager Jane who is no Manager and Heather the person who was mopping the floors found amusing. Excuses where given, non of them worth anything, just excuses .No oplogies for the humiliation that four customers had just been subjected too.I did ring to complain and spoke to a gentleman called Peter who sympathise with my story. The owners need to know that putting kids in positions they are not qualified to do will have a detrimental affect on a business
