We are often looking for somewhere to stop while travelling north to Scotland, somewhere welcoming and not too far from the M6. Cafe Edelweiss absolutely fits the bill. Leaving very early for a long journey, we appreciated that this cafe was open at 8.30am. Some of the locals also clearly appreciate this, as it was very soon full with regulars. It’s a pleasant environment - calm, relaxed and quiet even when there were quite a few tables full. And even on a grey day, there was lots of natural light coming in through the large windows, The service is great, and the meals come out in good time, with fresh ingredients. Some nice touches, like marmalade to go with your toast even though you have ordered a cooked breakfast. The coffee was a decent strength too. Clean toilet, and car parking close by (entered via the supermarket car park). Just what we were looking for.

Lovely homely cafe, we just needed coffee & snack, excellent waitress, who accepted my play on words, with good humour, when ordering toasted teacakes. They came quickly, nicely toasted, not overdone, served with a delicious jam, at no extra charge, although I guess it is built into the price. Superb coffee, & service with a smile, we were treated no differently to other customers, who were ordering mains. Would happily recommend the cafe to anyone. A first class experience.

What a lovely little cafe this is. We'd popped in for a coffee & scone the previous afternoon and decided we were coming back for breakfast. The vegetarian breakfast was fantastic and a little bit different from the normal fare. Peppers, onions and spuds added to mushrooms, beans, tomatoes, fried bread and toast & marmalade. We also bought some of the scones we'd tried the day before, the best scones I have ever had. Can't wait for my afternoon cuppa. Thanks

Had never been in before. Popped in first thing for a breakfast barm. My wife had a teacake with butter and jam. Simple food to start the day. I did mention to the member if staff it was my birthday. They treated us like old friends and nothing was too much trouble. The food and drink was beautiful, the staff awesome, the service second to none. All wished me a happy birthday and it really made my day. I highly recommend this cafe. Look for it in alleyway cut through by Boots store . You will love it.

I arrived into Carnforth an hour early so I wondered through the town and came across this cafe. There was a very warm welcome from the staff, it was warm and cosy out of the cold morning weather. A few years since we were last here but its as good as ever. The menu is full of really good choices and so reasonable but what makes it very different is the menu of special dishes - all Austrian dishes as the owner of the cafe is herself Austrian born. We had a lovely dish of sauté potatoes with ham, bacon and herbs with a fried egg on top and served with a fried egg on top and with a side dish of buttered pickled cabbage (sauerkraut perhaps)? Finished our meal with an authentic malakof cake. All for about ten pounds. Do try this place!

If it's a genuine, local tea rooms/cafe in this area that you are looking for, head to Edelweiss. It's a small place, and popular with the locals, so the only downside is that you may not always be able to get a table. One of the first things that will catch your eye is the range of delicious homemade cakes, scones and other sweet things along the side. As a scone lover, I was delighted to find a choice of two sweet scones. Even better, they were such excellent value. For £1.80, I enjoyed a cherry scone with jam and cream - admittedly not clotted cream, but large enough to serve as a meal in itself (see my photo) if I hadn't preceded it with one of their lovely freshly made sandwiches. This came with a small salad, coleslaw and crisps. But I didn't have to rush my lunch - I love a cafe that offers newspapers or good magazines to read while you take a break, and Edelweiss has both. The coffee was much better than I have come to expect from cafes in this country, and with friendly locals and toilet facilities as well, this made for the ideal place to break our journey.

Myself, husband and three friends discovered The Eidelwise Cafe on Tuesday and we were so pleased with both the food/prices and the staff that we went back every day! Great food, great prices and the staff couldn't have been nicer. They even reserved a table each day for the 5 of us. We are bikers and would recommend this cafe to everyone xxxx

As hungry motorcyclists visiting from Essex we were made to feel very welcome, with good food, efficient staff and a family like atmosphere we ate there all week. I would highly recommend this place.!
