Me and my Wife out for afternoon in hot sunshine looking for something sweet, when we spotted this place. The cakes, biscuits and patisseries caught our eyes like jewels. We were not far wrong, as the Biscoff cheese cake and apple frangipagne (sorry about spelling) were better than anything we had in London this week! We brought them home and had them with coffee. Shame we live in Prestwich!!

Had a cracking Sunday dinner at the Holcombe Tap in Ramsbottom yesterday. Went for the roast beef with sides of cauliflower and the orange and honey carrots – absolutely spot on, full of flavour and cooked just right. I’ve always loved this place. They do small plates with a British twist, and there’s usually a bit of Mediterranean flair thrown in too. Makes it feel a bit special without being fancy. They also have live music every Sunday – we caught Suzanne’s Little Big Band this time, a chilled jazz trio with double bass and trombone. It really added to the vibe. Great food, great atmosphere – can’t go wrong here.

Prices are on the higher side for a cafe. Food is okay but they can't poach eggs, far too hard boiled. Cutlery is useful but the knife couldn't cut through butter. Worse though it's being served food on chipped plates and cracked cups. Just doesn't meet the ratings for me at all. In response to the reply, thank you for the offer, but we don't live anywhere near. As for clearing the plate, we were going on a walk and had little choice but to eat what we were served. It wasn't very nice, which is why we both ordered sauce half way thru eating it, to add some flavour.

Finally got to visit here which has been an ambition. Wasn't disappointed. The Iron Plate stout was especially good, but we enjoyed lighter ales, Breadcrumbs & Costa del Salford too. Chilled & friendly atmosphere with no background music (bliss). I hope to return....

It looks like Northern Whisper Ramsbottom has now closed. This place could have been a great success. The bar manager was a great fellow but just pulled the beers and then played on his phone, ignoring what could be a solitary customer on their own who would have liked to have been acknowledged. The previous bar staff Lucy and Chloe in particular were very customer friendly and chatted with customers unfortunately in my eyes the bar went downhill when they left. The bar manager sadly didn't display that skill this in my opinion, leading to many customers not coming back or only having one drink and then leaving. Every Wednesday the handpull beers were £2 a pint this was hardly advertised anywhere in Ramsbottom it should have been plastered all over the windows to this day many Ramsbottom people were unaware of this promotion the bar if advertised correctly would have been packed. A major failing too in this modern age is that there was NO disabled male toilet access. Apart from these very big failings, the beer was always on top form and excellent.

The food here is beautiful and it’s a great addition to Ramsbottom. The menu doesn’t include many options and it is a really small restaurant, but even though we are fussy we both found at least a couple of things we wanted to order for each course. The food and cocktails that we ordered were delicious. The service was great!
