Came away from this a bit disappointed, as I’m sure it can be better. Food and drinks for 2, starters, mains & desserts. The bread and butter was top, really done well. Starter of beetroot & ewes curd was enjoyable. The main was the issue for me. 8oz Dexter beef from the grill. locally raised, served medium rare but looked like it hadn’t seen any direct heat - maybe oven cooked? No caramelisation, no seasoning, didn’t taste like it was cooked in any fat. Positively it was perfectly pink. The first bite just tasted like the ingredients. Asked for salt. Real shame. At £42 the cooking of that should be better but maybe more fool me for bad ordering? Really needed the additional green peppercorn sauce as without it would have been unmanageable. 3 stars for service as nobody asked how it was until our bill came. Although staff were v nice. Desserts were of a high level so think pastry is sorted there, but grill at that price needs attention to detail and would be loads better. Salt & fat & a scalding hot grill please!

A cold December days outside but inside the White Horse pub welcomes you with a lovely warm fire and a smiling, chatty barman . In for lunch, drinks sorted and menus provided, special board on the wall above the fire . Lovely lunch menu, great choice of hot or cold food , my daughter chose the soup and fresh salmon sandwich and I went for the Steak and Ale pie with fresh vegetables and lovely homemade chips . Plenty of parking at the rear. Lovely staff, great food, we will definitely return , All our food and drinks for £33-00 , very reasonable .

Stayed overnight with a couple of friends and had a great time. The rooms we had were smallish but absolutely fine. The shower was cubicle was small and there was a bit of temperature fluctuation, but plenty of hot water. Lots of nice little touches, chocolates, dressing gowns, sleep masks etc. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. We ate in the orangery, a lovely oak framed room, nicely decorated. The food was excellent, good sized and delicious starters, (The filo wrapped braised cheek and the leek and brie tart). For the mains, three of us had the steak pie which was superb, lovely shortcrust pastry filled with lots of tender steak. Our other friend had the beef cheek, which was melt in the mouth tender and also delicious. There was unfortunately no chance of managing a desert although they looked lovely. All in all a very nice break. The only minus point was that our friends were in room five and had a disturbed night sleep because the cellar cooler was under their bedroom window and was running all night.

Excellent meal - staying locally for husband’s 60th birthday so booked for lunch on our arrival. 5 adults and one baby, enjoyed by everyone lovely staff and excellent food excellent value for money. A big thank you from me for the vegetarian option best meal I’ve had in a long time proper vegetarian food no fake meat. Too many places now just offer a vegan option to cover both vegetarian and vegan usually meaning highly processed fake meat.
