Alison, thank you so much for hosting my dad's wake. The food went down a treat and you really listened to our requirements/preferences. I highly recommend this lovely pub and lovely publicans.

Booked this for my wife’s birthday as we were recommended to have the carvery. The food was excellent, no complaints whatsoever. However cannot say the same for the service which was woeful. I ended up having to fetch the drinks for our table throughout our meal as staff could not cope. Also overheard constant complaints from the staff about their job which, to be honest, the public should not be able to hear. Would I come again? Not sure. for the food alone yes but servicewise they have a lot of work to do to make it acceptable. A tip for anyone, make sure you check your bill, especially drinks, as there was mistakes on ours.

Been here many times. Food quality was ok to begin with. The last time we visited the owner came across very stressed and panicky about everything. He’s tone and attitude towards the staff was demeaning and awful - I’m shocked they still work for him. He openly puts them down in front of customers. Lack of customer service and unprofessional. Food: Ordered a luxury hot chocolate. He had no cream so instead of asking if we still want it, he poured ‘extra marshmallows’ into the hot chocolate making it undrinkable and nasty. We were charged for a luxury hot chocolate. Didn’t raise a point about this as like I said anything we mentioned stressed the guy out. Turkish eggs - from my knowledge this is a dish with eggs on a bed of yoghurt. Previously ordered this dish and had ‘some’ yoghurt. Nowhere near as much as the dish should have. This time around - I ordered the Turkish eggs but wanted well done eggs. They came as not well done so I asked for them to be done again. The waitress offered to take it back and redo. I said to the owner not to add any extra chilli for decoration after the eggs are done as it gets too spicy. The request was an issue. When the plate arrived, I noticed there was no yoghurt on the plate or whatever they’d added had been removed due to eggs getting done again. When I showed this to the owner, without even looking at the plate, he said I should’ve asked for extra yoghurt. He didn’t even let me explain that there is NO yoghurt on the plate. As my baby was crying, I gave in and said it’s fine. He didn’t acknowledge that he was being difficult whilst we were trying to just eat and get out as quick as possible. He bought extra yoghurt and argued that they purposely put less yoghurt because that’s how the customers like it. Drinks- we ordered a mango and guava special but were given a rubicon mango drink. Family friendly? Absolutely not. Once he had an issue with us wanting to take a pushchair and this time he had an issue with where the highchair was placed even though it wasn’t blocking any space or unsafe. The quality of food and ingredients has dropped massively. The portion sizes compared to most breakfast places are tiny. You can order a full breakfast for £10 and will still leave starving. 1 toast, 1 egg, etc. Unless you pay extra for a bigger portion- scam! After my experience this time round and speaking to people I know. My experience wasn’t an isolated event. People have had rude comments and he has been inwelcoming towards kids or pushchairs. As we left the owner tried to make excuses for the crap service saying he is training the new staff but unfortunately it’s not the staff it’s the owner who needs to fix up and manage more patiently and better for the business to keep going. Sadly, I felt the need to leave this honest review as every business should work towards getting better and take criticism on board. Our morning as a family of three was ruined due to this experience.
