The Knot It was absolutely lovely if you go book in the Snug log burner and food to die for had a pork crackling roast and the potatoes and veg come separately, I had smash burger with salt/pepper fries and slaw followed by Apple Tart Tatum and a lemon/pistachio Tuscan trifle couldn’t rate it highly xxxx

Unfortunately we had quite a disappointing experience at The Saracens Head - specifically the service let it down. We dined with our family to celebrate my Mum’s birthday. My parents were the first to arrive and were told by a male front of house staff member (who was yawning whilst speaking to them) that the table was only booked for 2 people. Once the rest of the party arrived, my brother approached the front of house team to show them the booking confirmation that our booking was for 6 people and they stated that this was an error with a third party booking system. However we were very grateful that they were able to accommodate us. The first waitress to serve us had quite a poor attitude and was a little too confident and over friendly and actually really quite sarcastic, which at times was a little overpowering and inappropriate. Our food arrived which admittedly was good! The young male front of house member who served our main meals asked if we wanted any sauces etc and we then asked if we could order more drinks - we then noticed he walked off and rolled his eyes. Again - poor attitude! We ordered desserts - £8.50 for the tiniest, flattest sticky toffee pudding ever (see photos). Once our plates had been cleared, we sat at our table for a good 45 minutes whilst the front of house staff closed down the restaurant around us and totally ignored us. We asked for the bill and the female front of house member (I assume to be a manager) asked us how our evening was, to which we were a bit hesitant and made it clear that we weren’t too pleased. She never asked any further questions or acknowledge this and allow us the opportunity to explain how we felt about our experience. We gave her another chance to rectify this by asking to take the service charge off - something we have never done before and actually felt really quite harsh in doing so, but we didn’t feel a service charge was warranted and this was the final chance. This was quite awkward when paying the bill, especially when we were not asked why this was. We left the venue and felt that this member of staff was a little disdainful when we said goodbye etc. This is a real shame and I am not one to complain, nor leave a poor review. However, I wanted to take the opportunity to raise my complaints as I was not given the opportunity to do so during our visit. It seems like this place is being ran by inexperienced, young members of staff with a slight lack of respect for their paying customers.

Stopped off here to catch up with friends and had a great lunch, a very village style pub, loads of space inside, and plenty more outside if the weather permits. Lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
