Went for breakfast and it was generally OK. The full breakfast was quite nice, good quality bacon & sausage. My wife is coeliac and there was plenty of choice. She had poached egg on toast with avocado. Egg not quite cooked. Big let down though was the coffee. Very expensive cappuccino and the large was a medium/regular anywhere else. More expensive than Costa!

We were attending a wedding at the nearby Davenport House and booked for 2 nights at The Old Vicarage. It was an excellent choice as the wedding venue was only a 10 minute walk. Check in was efficient and we were handed our key to the Claverley Room. We had a huge 4 poster bed and antique furniture, including a wardrobe you could have gone to Narnia in! The room overlooked the rear gardens and the Shropshire countryside beyond and the bed was incredibly comfortable so we enjoyed 2 very comfortable night’s sleep. The bathroom was modern with a large walk in shower and toiletries were provided. Breakfast is served in the conservatory and guests are asked to complete a menu choice sheet the night before. The full English breakfast was superb and there’s also a choice of cereals, pastries and fresh orange juice. The staff are welcoming and friendly and happy to help with directions or alternative places to eat. We weren’t able to eat here due to a large wedding party but we were recommended The Dog Inn & Davenport which is only a 10 minute walk into the village (see separate review) and can thoroughly recommend for both food and hospitality. We would definitely stay here again.

It has the feel of a proper country pub but on the fringe of Telford. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, there is an excellent selection of ales with the usual lagers, ciders, plus the wine's and spirits. I can't really comment on the food other than the fact that not only did it smell amazing if it tasted as good as it looked, then there'd be no complaint, and on this point a table was booked in advanced for a future event. Being dog friendly for well-behaved dogs along with a beer garden with a view of the neighbouring countryside plus sky sports if this is of interest rounds off an excellent visit. I would definitely recommend it in a heartbeat if you live within a resonable distance or if you fancy something different from a typical everyday run of the mill town pub.
