The best restaurants serving British food in Avon and Swift Rugby West Midlands

Today my mum and I booked onto the 'Find Your Chocolate Love Match Workshop' at Hotel Chocolat. I highly recommend this chocolate tasting experience. We had a fabulous afternoon. A huge thank you to Mark at the Bracknell store for making the experience so enjoyable, his knowledge of Hotel Chocolat as a company and the processes behind the chocolate making was superb. We learnt so much about the various chocolates and what would best suit our taste palettes.

We used to travel to Shap or Longtown for the best chip suppers, then we discovered the Morton Fryer. We used to think it was good, particularly because they sell Steve Wilson's steak pies. If you haven't tasted them, you haven't lived. Unfortunately, they lost our confidence and custom completely, the time when we phoned in advance to order four lots of steak pie and chips, and they completely destroyed them in the microwave. When I complained, they didn't even have the grace to respond. Back to Shap & Longtown.

I came before for a coffee and avocado on toast here and it was pretty decent but I came for a birthday treat for Sunday lunch today and it was a whole different story. I'm vegetarian so I ordered the meatless Sunday lunch (wrongly) expecting some protein replacement, leaving me hungry again shortly afterwards fulfilling the old school vegetarian stereotype. When the food came it looked like it had been kept on hold for way too long before being re-heated. The parsnips were fibrous and inedible, the potatoes lacked any freshness and the veggie gravy was gelatinous (not literally) and weak sauce. The greens were OK but definitely not seasoned. As someone who has worked in hospitality I understand how the occasional off day happens but 16 quid is a bit rich for some luke-warm stale vegetables in my book. Ill stick to coffee and cake in future. The place needs soundproofing also as it felt like eating in a school cafeteria as I couldn't decern the music or hear my companions speak very well at all, even at 60% capacity.

We had a really nice stay at the hotel, location is great as it’s quiet. Friendly staff, tasty breakfast, good drinks as well. Definitely gonna be back next time we’re in the area

Good quality food, ordered a fish barm,chips & gravy. Very competitive prices,hot,freshly cooked food. Clean premises and pleasant staff

Visited for quick lunch as in the area, food was cheap & cheerful. Nothing special. Pub looking tatty in places, windows tatty & old, with paint peeling. Definitely in need of the awaiting refurb for Hickory’s to arrive sept 2025 I was told. What you pay for cheap lunch though, it is better than having a Maccies/KFC. Was busy with kids as half term. Good luck with the refurb. See you when Hickory’s.

El peor café que he tenido el placer de haber servido Se cambió cuando se solicitó, pero solo media taza como inyección de café no es suficiente. Calidad sobre cantidad. Me apegaré a Greggs o MacDonalds por lo menos se puede probar lo que está comprando. Agua no coloreada

Haven't been in to this store for some months.. I forgot how lovely it is. The staff and manager were so helpful and chatty , it's so nice to actually have a conversation with people and not feel rushed or in the way. It's spotlessly clean and the chocolates are so special. This little shop is a gem and I can't wait to go back for my next treat.

Mal servicio, falta de comunicación o saludo. Me equivoqué con una bebida y dos chocolates calientes ni siquiera estaban calientes y mucho menos calientes.

I ordered breakfast via JustEat before 7am and was aware that delivery doesn't begin until 7.10am, however my order didn't reach my house which is only a mile away until 8.05am. For a fast food restaurant it's not very good at preparing orders very efficiently, if you go to the drive through, the majority of times you are asked if you would mind parking up and they still continue to take orders to the point of cars having nowhere to go as everyone is waiting for their orders. This has been an issue for quite a while now, considering that it's a brand new building, recently overhauled at vast expense I would have thought that the process would be a lot smoother but unfortunately nothing seems to have changed. With so much competition around everyone needs to be on their A game and I understand that a Burger King is opening soon in Treforest, that could be a game changer going forward. Please try and organise this still very popular restaurant as I enjoy the food and the staff are all very friendly and helpful it's just the length of time people have to wait for their orders is a problem.
