We have visited the Abbey House a few years ago and drive especially with a detour to revisit. Since my wife uses a wheelchair I asked to be seated on the lawns just a few steps from the terrace to make an accessible place available (we had been seated there during our prvfious visit). The waiter answered: we only put tables there duiding a wedding. So no other option for us then just leave the place since which is NOT accesible for a wheelchair. We were very disappionted and felt unwelcomed.

Brilliant pub. Great bar staff and the owner keeps a good beer and a welcoming place for a pint and a bite.

Lovely setting, lovely staff. Homemade tomato soup was very peppery - so much so that I couldn’t taste the tomatoes. Bread roll was ok. Hubby had vegan pasty which he really enjoyed. Shared a fruit scone which was not nice. There was a hint of vanilla (unnecessary) and an underlying taste which was horrible. I couldn’t finish mine.

Great spot. Stopped off while walking some of the south west coast path. Had a lovely pizza and managed to watch it being made by Connor with some tips on how to make it ourselves!

My disappointment of The Elm Tree closing has been relieved a small amount in finding out both the Head Chef Emma and Paul Clark have moved down the road to Salt in Portland so I do not have to go far for an amazing meal now

Was told on arrival it was a scaled down Sunday lunch menu as they only had one chef, one waitress and one bar person. This was ample as the place was almost empty and got even quieter. Dinner arrived looking very unappetising. Frozen Yorkshire, hard cauliflower, grey fatty beef, I like mine quite rare, very hard roast potatoes, like they had been cooked but kept warm for a long time. Gravy and carrots were OK but the cabbage, I think it was, was a pale mush . Only 3 choices of pudding which the waitress had to get the blackboard. Surely you can remember 3 items! Halway through my dinner a started to choke on a piece of hard potatoe. Not one member if staff helped me, I ran to the loo and tried to dislodge it but to no avail luckily, a lady came into the loo, saw my distress and got her medic husband. Thank goodness for him. He sent out for water. Eventually it moved and I went back to my table, not wanting the rest of my dinner obviously. Not one member of sraff asked me if I was OK. Needless to say we will not be going again. £17 ! Shocking price for awful food!

Had a lovely mug of tea and a delicious homemade Belgian white chocolate and marshmallow tiffin. The setting is very colonial ( is that word allowed). The staff seem tired.

Went there with my family for a drink and ordered fish and chips to be shared as we already had our lunch but still spent around 50 pound .we ask a rude lady for extra cutlery she very aggressive said that you are paying for 2 but feeding 4 mouth and I will have extra washing to do ...never heard anything like that. She even took our plates away while we were still eating avoid avoid avoid.
