The best restaurants serving British food in Dawlish South West Teignbridge South West

Possibly one of the worst places I have been into in recent times. We actually visited with a view to booking a large function but were very quickly put off. The biggest problem here is the staff. Sat outside smoking in the door way whilst nobody serving inside. Staff member storms in behind the bar and rudely asks what we want and then slams everything on the bar spilling the beer whilst aggressively stabbing the Epos screen with his dirty finger. We asked where we should sit as all the tables were laid up for diners apart from a couple which were scattered with paraphernalia. He just looked and said "not round there, over there, first come first served". We had to go and sit under a speaker turned up too loud when there was nobody else in the place. The Assistant Manager arrived which we thought would bring some order but it turned out she was just as bad and put us off ordering any food with her filthy appearance. The staff from outside (who were off duty apparently and had left their station before new staff had arrived) had begun quite loudly shouting back and forth across the bar with the Assistant Manager. It all became too much and was quite unpleasant so we left. Most unfortunate as it looks a lovely a pub in a lovely location not far from us. Needs some order to it. For a certain type of guest I think. One who likes farm yards.

Warm and welcoming. Excellent choice of drinks and fairly priced, pleasant wines. The sandwiches come highly recommended for a light lunch, with the best local quality and generously served ingredients. No reason not to call in, if you’re in the area. I wish I had taken a photo. Fabulous night here on holiday. Good football plenty of screens but also disco and karaoke night. Good prices.
