Initially loved the look of this place. Room was fine apart from the toilet. If you flushed it once it would not flush again for at least an hour. Booked dinner with our dog. Seating very tired and stained and so dusty. I ordered sirloin my hubby ordered fish n chips. I did not receive sirloin. I received three ‘slices’ of fatty, tough cheap carvery beef. My veg couldn’t be cut it was so hard. My hubby’s batter had obviously been forgotten it was so overcooked. We hadn’t eaten in over eight hours so he ate his. Mine was inedible. I complained and I was offered a replacement meal. I was too tired as our journey had taken all day. Breakfast was a contrast and lovely. Hubby had full English, I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Lovely. We came to pay. They were aware of the toilet. I was told there was a plumbing problem they were trying to rectify and they said the bill for food was void. Which was fair. Would I return. No.

It had been while since we last visited the Bell. Simon looked after us primarily, along with some of the other team members. I know it was busy, but apart from Simon, the others just seemed to be distant, sadly not very friendly or welcoming. The table, I think it was number 11, was very uncomfortable. It is one of the tables on the side of the restaurant, where one of you has to sit on a window seat, therefore you are higher than the table. Plus, the table had a wooden bar so you could not face the table to eat. Not recommended. The cheese soufflé to start was very tasty. The Luxury Fish Pie was a bit of a disappointment, lots of potato, not a lot of fish. The Pie was very good, Chicken and not venison as told. The wine choice on the menu, as well as on the Wine Wall has always been exceptional. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of Brunello di Montalcino, very reasonably priced. Sadly the evening was somewhat spoilt by a very loud table of 6 in the corner, who felt the need to speak at the top of their voices. We clearly understood they were celebrating a 39th birthday, as the squeaky women at the head of the table kept repeating...

The farm shop is lovely although prices are eye watering so do didn’t buy anything. We did eat in the restaurant section. Unfortunately I felt it was very overpriced, but also our beetroot burger was very salty, I don’t know if it was the burger itself or the slaw on the bottom, I like salt but this was extremely salty. Portions are small and overpriced. I don’t mind it being serviced in a paper bag like a take away but don’t price as if it was a restaurant. The place itself is lovely and the staff but sadly we will not be returning due to the prices.
