This Sunday lunch came highly recommended by two dear friends of mine. It certainly came up trumps when a party of five of us dined there today. At only an hours notice did Nathan kindly accommodate us a table at the front of the restaurant. The decor is contemporary modern and the ambiance was perfect for a family occasion. The servers were excellent and far exceeded expectations and coped well under pressure. They were professional, courteous, attentive and engaging. They certainty do The Vale Of Glamorgan very proud. My two cousins and their partners were impressed and they donā€™t impress easily. Complimentary sour dough bread, butter and iced lemon water was brought to the table. Adequate time was given before our orders were taken. Only one starter was ordered whilst four of us opted for desert. The starter was ham hock terrine and salad which was divine. An assortment of soft drinks, lagers and cider was enjoyed whilst waiting for the main meals. My cousin and I chose the pork belly with crackling. Other family members enjoyed a slow braised brisket of beef, a roasted Glamorganshire sirloin roast dinner and finally a cod fillets with Mediterranean vegetables and new potatoes dish. All meals were flawless. Excellent Yorkshire puddings, seasoned meals and delicious gravy. All portions were heartily and plates were cleared! Deserts were sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, a bakewell tart and two lemon cheesecakes. All were exceptional and staff checked in on us regularly. Nathan and the team really looked after us and we cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. We tipped generously to show our gratitude. A well deserved five stars. šŸŒŸ

The 3 women behind the bar were brusque and dour-faced. When I asked for a Campari and soda, the barmaid served it in a half pint glass topped up to the brim with soda. I said, Iā€™m sorry but thatā€™s not quite right, could you please put a measure of Campari in a glass with a splash of soda? The second attempt was again served in a half pint glass, this time a measure of Campari with a thimbleful of soda. Why the girl didnā€™t put the Campari in a glass and just ask me how much soda I wanted is beyond me. So I asked nicely if she could add a splash more soda. She did so whilst completely blanking me and asking another customer what she could get him. The whole ordeal was painful and as she was unfriendly and humourless, rather embarrassing. For this appalling lack of customer service and a pint of lime and soda, I was charged a scandalous Ā£6.80. Train your staff to interact with their customers and tell them that a smile goes a long way!

Try saying the heading fast and itā€™ll make you smile, almost as much as we smiled when the 3 meat roast that we ordered came to the table, big slice of Turkey, beef and perfectly cooked pork with a twirl of crunchy crackling all on top of a bed of perfectly cooked seasonal vegetable topped with a big helping of gravy on the side, 3 of us ordered it and we all enjoyed it, unfortunately, the afternoon was slightly ruined as my husband was crying and mourning over his steak and ale pie, the beef was tough and chewey the gravy inside the pie was watery, so with a solemn face had to watch the 3 of us scoff down our wonderful roast dinner, weā€™ll go back again for sure but we wonā€™t be ordering the Steak and Ale pie.
