We booked a table for a birthday meal several weeks in advance. It comes to the day of the meal, a few hours before our booked time and we receive a message saying our booking was cancelled with no given reason. Upon phoning the restaurant, we were greeted by a dismissive and rude manager who denied any knowledge of our booking full stop. They refused to reinstate the booking. We went elsewhere for the birthday meal. After this, we raised a complaint, trying to get a proper explanation as to why this had happened. We felt there must have been a reason for the cancellation and we wanted to know why it was so last minute when we had booked the table weeks in advance. In response to the complaint, we got further dismissal of the situation with the customer service advisor stating that the reason is because of issues from the past, but they are not going to tell us. They said we would have to go to the restaurant for the manager to explain - but then, how can we do that if they cancel our booking on the day? In the past, we have received very poor service and had to make a complaint about this. However, we have revisited the restaurant several times since then and had a great time. Sadly, this shocking experience has meant that we will not even bother attempting to visit The Bridge again. We are thankful that the events on this day made us find somewhere much better to visit and receive our custom.
