The best restaurants serving British food in Penn and Coleshill Chiltern South East

Visited the Royal Standard of England recently. Such a nice pub with really decent food - the fish and chips were delicious. We received great service from the bar man Phil, who was not only very knowledgeable about the beers on offer, but also knew a lot about the history of the pub. It’s the oldest free house in England! Highly recommend a visit. Cosy atmosphere inside, and the garden looks like it’ll be amazing in the summer!

Excellent experience. Lovely staff and service, good food and menu including children's menu. Good vegetarian options and a menu that would make me visit again. Very comfortable ambience for family dining. Good play area, children welcome. Dogs welcome (a common and woods over the road also) Good on street parking.

The Red Lion was already our go-to when in the area visiting family and on a super-busy Sunday at Christmas they did not let us down. Family festive booking for 21. Age range 10-83. Every member of staff smiling, welcoming & patient. Food excellent as always (no mean feat when dealing with these numbers) and service efficient & accurate from start to finish. Thank you so much to all at The Red Lion for giving us such a super afternoon.
