Visited at 4.30pm yesterday to have the two-course Christmas menu. Sadly the service was so slow that after an hour and a half, having had the first course and drinks, we had to leave as we were travelling into town. The server was apologetic and only charged us for one course, but it was disappointing not to have the full meal. That being said, the main course was plentiful and delicious.

The meat was lovely but I received the dregs of the beef rather than the chef getting a fresh piece. The vegetables were poor in choice and consisted of an unappealing vegetable gratin, a tasteless cauliflower cheese and macaroni cheese, 2 types of potato, peas and carrots. Not exactly my idea of what a carvery should be! On leaving we weren’t asked how our food was- is that because the response isn’t usually positive?!
