The best restaurants serving British food in Stevenage East of England

We had our son’s 18th birthday party booked here and the manager and staff could not have been more helpful! We dropped off the decorations beforehand and they very kindly decorated the reserved section for us. We ordered buffet food, which was lovely and there was loads of it! My son had the best time and we would recommend the Marquis of Granby for any function or party! Special thanks to the manager, Hailey.

Such a shame Harvester is closing, but I’m very glad the team will be back when the place reopens as Miller & Carter. And what a brilliant team it is! Everyone welcomes us warmly and goes to great lengths to ensure we have an excellent visit. The food is always great and the service is spot on - not in your face but there’s always someone there when you need them. Really looking forward to being able to go back in May.

The place is quite beautiful: a very elegant and charming place. Service is quite good (well-manered albeit too slow) even on a very busy evening. Wine list is interesting and nice, with special offers on well chosen items (a very decent Bandol that evening), But, food… not quite what it should be. It is poor and not matching expectations. Too few ingredients. Frugal and stingy wishes in every ways. Flavours too vague. No shape, no sharpness. In other words: lots of room for improvement. Yet not an awful evening at all but not sure I’ll go there to eat again—having drinks is nice and good enough.
