Have breakfast here most days, Wendy,Steve, and the rest of the staff are friendly and helpful and promote the cafe well. Clean and tidy with a good selection of food and drink, good place to have a break.

It was our first visit to the Willow Tree in a few years. We have always enjoyed the food in the past. We booked a dome for a special family celebration, an early evening dinner booking. We were "greeted" by a wholly disinterested lady (the manager?) and a few young staff who were friendly enough, if a bit chaotic. We were showed to our dome, which was charming and beautiful. One of the servers helped to set up the Bluetooth speaker and then also helped some people who just arrived at another table who kept connecting to ours! It was a shame that the menu on Saturday evening was different from the Autumn menu advertised on the website, with fewer appealing options - no pork belly, no venison, no tarte tatin. The food service was extremely slow, especially considering we were the first diners arriving in the early evening. Nibbles were brought late, after the starters rather than with the drinks. Our starters, when they eventually arrived, were delicious. The scallop dish contained only 2 scallops. The scotch egg was lovely and more generous. The mains were extremely disappointing. The steak (sirloin) was apparently very well cooked, served with fries and an absolutely tiny amount of sauce, no accompanying veg or salad. For £35 this was underwhelming. The herb crusted pork was actually horrible. Two of our party ordered this, and had to scrape off the herb crust - whole cumin seeds and other seared spices inelegantly applied in a thick pungent layer. It was a very, very unpleasant flavour. We wondered whether the chef had actually tasted this creation. The pork loin itself was nothing special, tough and worse than we would cook at home. Three people had burgers, they all said they were just fine. The portions of fries, though tasty, were terribly inconsistent in serving size some people having twice as many as others. Everyone agreed the fries were the best part of the mains! We did raise the concerns about the disappointing mains to the server, who was very apologetic and nice about it and said they would tell chef. Finally, we chose some puddings, and two of the orders came out wrong, the crumbles served with ice cream instead of custard. The crumble looked like it was served in a dog bowl. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious, but very small indeed for £10 per portion. Overall, slow and inconsistent service, very poor & disappointing food, and an expensive evening. Our bill came to over £320 for 6 diners, only two people had alcoholic drinks. We were not offered any deductions for the poor food or slow service. The best part about the evening was the ambience of the twinkling domes and the dramatic willow tree in the garden.

Arrived at 6.30pm but still waiting an hour and a half later at 8pm and told that there was a large table which took precedence and now 10 min wait on top of the 1 1/2 hour wait, so 8.30pm, 2 hour wait. Might I add I am sitting in the pub right now and no function room and not hugely busy for food
